About the AIIMS MBBS Exam:

The All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) are a group of autonomous public medical colleges of higher education. These Institutes have been declared by Act of Parliament as institutions of national importance. AIIMS New Delhi, the fore-runner parent excellence institution, was established in 1956.

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS MBBS Entrance Exam) is a national level medical entrance examination for undergraduates. It is one of the most reputed entrance tests conducted every year by All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) all over India.The test is the gateway to a flourishing career in medical sciences and successful admission in MBBS courses.

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences is a family of seven academic institutions offering various medical courses (MBBS/MD/MS/Nursing/Paramedical/Health Science). There are very limited seats, only 672 in number, so the candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their performance in the entrance test.

Out of total 672 seats, 72 seats are covered by AIIMS-DELHI and the rest 600 seats are divided across 6 AIIMS Institutes across the country. The AIIMS conducts exams in more than 154 cities across the nation every year in the month of June.It is assumed that more than 3.5 lakh candidates will be enrolled in upcoming AIIMS-2017.

Duration of course for AIIMS MBBS 2018:

The Course of studies leading to the award of the degree of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S.) of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences shall last for a minimum of five and a half academic years including one year's compulsory internship.

AIIMS MBBS 2018 Important Dates

  • Online registration for AIIMS MBBS will start from 22nd January 2018.
  • The last date for online Registration is on 23rd February 2018 (5:00 PM).
  • Status of registration, including rejection/deficiencies in the AIIMS MBBS Application Form, will be on March 7th, 2018.
  • The last date for complying with deficiencies in the AIIMS MBBS Application Form is March 22nd,  2018.
  • The AIIMS MBBS Admit Cards will be available on 1st May 2018.
  • The AIIMS MBBS exam will be on 28th May 2018.
  • The AIIMS MBBS Results will be published on 14th June 2018. 
  • Round I Counselling for AIIMS MBBS will be on 3rd July 2018 to 6th July 2018. 
  • Medical Examination of selected candidates for AIIMS, Delhi will be on July 7th 2018 and 8th, 2018.
  • Round II Counselling for AIIMS MBBS is on August  3rd, 2018.
  • Round III Counselling for AIIMS MBBS is on September 4th, 2018.
  • Open Counselling for AIIMS MBBS is on September 27th, 2018.

AIIMS MBBS 2018 Eligibility

  • Age Limit: Candidates must complete 17 years of age before 31st December 2018 to be eligible for AIIMS MBBS.
  • Candidates must have completed their 10+2 examination or an equivalent exam from a recognised board to be eligible for AIIMS MBBS.
  • Candidates should have had English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology as mandatory subjects to be eligible for AIIMS MBBS.
  • Candidates appearing for the Class 10+2 examination in 2018 are also eligible for AIIMS MBBS.
  • The qualifying marks for the General and OBC candidates is 60% and the qualifying marks for the SC/ST candidates is 50% to be eligible for AIIMS MBBS.
  • Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) who are registered under Section 7A of Citizenship Act 1955 are eligible to apply for AIIMS MBBS. To be eligible OCIs need to produce OCI registration proof under Section 7A of Citizenship Act 1955.
  • Foreign Nationals nominated by the Government of India need to pass intermediate science examination or equivalent with a minimum aggregate score of 50% in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English. Foreign Nationals need not appear for the exam (applicable only to AIIMS New Delhi).
  • The eligibility criteria differ between the students from India and other countries for AIIMS MBBS.

AIIMS MBBS 2018 Application Process

  • The candidate should complete two processes before the application process to AIIMS MBBS.
  • Process 1: The candidate should take a colour photo as black and white photos and Polaroid photos are not accepted. The photograph should have a white background with no borders. The size of the photograph should be between 50-100kb and the dimension of the photograph should be 4.5 cm (height) and 3.5 cm (width). The photo should be clear as the candidate has to scan his passport size photograph.
  • Process 2: The candidates should scan his signature and thumbprint with a white background. The size of the image of the photograph should be between 10-50 kb and the dimension of the image of the photograph should be 3 cm (height) and 6 cm (width). The acceptable form of the image of the signature and the thumbprint are jpg., jpeg., png.,  gif. The image should be clear as it has to be scanned.
  • Once the candidate has completed the above two processes the candidate can follow the six-step application process to register for the AIIMS MBBS exam. The steps for the application process are explained in the following points.
  • Registration: The candidate has to go to the official website and click on the "click here" option on the new registration page. Fill the particulars on the registration page and click on the "Save and Proceed" button. There will be a pop-up message with the candidate's ID and other information. A mail and an SMS will be sent as well. Click on the "OK" button. A page will appear where you can change your password. The candidate has to log in and update the password. Next, a candidate information page will appear which can be edited. After editing click on the "Proceed" button. The red coloured registration icon will change to yellow colour, which symbolises that the registration is successfully completed.
  • Make Payment: Once the registration is complete the payment page appears. The candidate has to pay the AIIMS MBBS Application Form fee through online mode. The fees can be paid by using debit/credit card or net banking. After filling the correct details click on the "Pay" button. Candidates should take a printout of the payment slip and click on the "Proceed" button.
  • Choosing the city: Once the payment process to AIIMS MBBS is completed the candidate can choose the city. Once the city is chosen it cannot be changed. Click on the "Save and Proceed".
  • Qualification and Address Details: The candidate has to fill in the qualification and address and click on the Save and Proceed button.
  • Uploading Image: The candidate has to upload his/her photo, the image of the thumbprint and an image of the signature. Images once uploaded cannot be changed. After the images are uploaded click on the Save and Proceed button.
  • Print the registration form: Once the form to AIIMS MBBS has been submitted the candidate can see the application form complete with all the details. If there are any changes to be made then click on the "Edit" button and save. Click on the print button and save the registration form and then click on the final submit button. The candidates will receive an acknowledgement form via e-mail.
  • The candidates can log out after the registration process to AIIMS MBBS is completed. The review process will start, which will take up to 7-10 days.

AIIMS MBBS 2018 Application Form Details

  • The AIIMS MBBS Application form will be available on the official website from 22nd January 2018 to 23rd February 2018.
  • AIIMS MBBS Application Form Fees: 
    General Category: The AIIMS MBBS Application Form fees is Rs. 1,000 + transaction charges.
    Other Backward Class (OBC): The AIIMS MBBS Application Form fees is Rs. 1000 + transaction charges.
    Scheduled Class (SC): The AIIMS MBBS Application Form fees is Rs. 800 + transaction charges.
    Scheduled Tribe (ST): The AIIMS MBBS Application Form fees is Rs. 800 + transaction charges.
    OPH: There are no application and transaction charges.
    The AIIMS MBBS Application Form fees can be paid using either debit/credit card or net banking.
  • Application Procedure: 
    Candidates have to go the official website and download the AIIMS MBBS Application Form and fill in the required details.
    Upload a passport size photograph and a valid signature.
    Upload the filled AIIMS MBBS Application form and click on the Submit button.
    Candidates can download a copy of the AIIMS MBBS Application Form for future reference.

AIIMS MBBS 2018 Admit Card

  • The AIIMS MBBS Admit cards will be available on 1st May 2018.
  • The AIIMS MBBS Admit Card is a mandatory document and contains information like the candidate's name, address, photo, signature, thumbprint and other details.
  • The AIIMS MBBS Admit Card can be downloaded from the official website.
  • Candidates can download the AIIMS MBBS Admit Card from the link provided on the Official Website.
  • The link will take the candidates to the AIIMS MBBS login page.
  • The candidates should login by entering their Application number and password.
  • Download and print the AIIMS MBBS Admit Card.
  • Candidates should take an identity proof and a photograph as well.

AIIMS MBBS 2018 Exam Pattern

The AIIMS MBBS exam is on 28th May 2018 

  • Language: AIIMS MBBS will be held in English and Hindi.
  • The Number of Questions: The AIIMS MBBS question paper will comprise of a total of 200 objective type questions.
  • Marking Scheme: The applicant will be given 1 mark for every correct answer and 1/3 mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer.
  • Online exam: AIIMS MBBS will be a computer based exam.
  • Subjects: The AIIMS MBBS exam has four subjects which are Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany and Zoology) and General Knowledge/Aptitude.
  • Physics, Chemistry and Biology will have 60 questions each while General Knowledge/Aptitude will have 20 questions.

AIIMS MBBS 2018 Syllabus

The AIIMS Entrance Exam Syllabus is as given below:

  • Physics: Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Magnetic Effect of Current and Magnetism, Electromagnetic Induction and Alternating Current, Electromagnetic Waves, Optics, Dual Nature of Matter, etc.
  • Chemistry: Solid state, Solutions, Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics, Surface Chemistry, General Principles and Processes of Isolation of Element, P-block Elements, etc.
  • Biology: Reproduction, Genetics and Evolution, Biology and Human Welfare, Biotechnology and its Applications, Ecology and Environment, Diversity in Living World, Cell: The Unit of Life; Structure and Function, Genetics and Evolution, etc.
  • General Knowledge: Geography, History, India Independence, Science etc.

AIIMS MBBS 2018 Results

  • The AIIMS MBBS Entrance Exam results will be announced on 14th June 2018.
  • The AIIMS MBBS Results will be published on the official website.
  • The candidates who obtained minimum qualifying marks can check their rank card and merit list.
  • The details required to access the AIIMS MBBS Results will be your name, roll number, category and father's name.
  • Candidates are required to take the printout of the AIIMS MBBS Result and keep it till the admission procedure starts.
  • General category cut off - 50%
  • OBC NCL category cut off - 45%
  • SC/ST cut off - 40%
  • OPH cut off - Cut Offs of the respective category

AIIMS MBBS 2018 Counselling

  • The AIIMS MBBS Counselling process will be conducted at Jawaharlal Auditorium, AIIMS, New Delhi.
  • The AIIMS MBBS 2018 counselling will be conducted for allotment of 672 MBBS seats in 7 AIIMS situated in different states of India. 
  • The AIIMS MBBS Counselling process consists of four rounds.
  • The first round of counselling will begin on 3rd July 2018 to 6th July 2018.
  • The second round of counselling will be on August 3rd, 2018.
  • The third round of counselling will be on September 4th, 2018.
  • The AIIMS MBBS open counselling will be on September 27th, 2018.
  • Reservation of seats for Indian Nationals (The AIIMS Institutions (only Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Jodhpur, Patna, Raipur, and Rishikesh) will follow the reservation policy.
  • OPH reservation - 3%
  • ST candidates reservation - 7.5%
  • SC candidates reservation - 15%
  • OBC candidates reservation - 27%
  • Reservation of seats for foreign students has not yet been announced.

I am not able to do the corrections in my AIIMS MBBS Application Form, though the time given to me was either until the 23rd February or between 1st to the 3rd of March. I had already corrected my AIIMS MBBS Application Form on the 22nd February but today when I checked it again, it says I need to upload images once again. I still have time till 3 March but it says admissions are closed. What shall I do?

The corrections on AIIMS MBBS Application Form can be done till the Last Date of Registration. ie: the 23rd of February.

But the following details can't be corrected once the application form to AIIMS MBBS has been successfully submitted:

  • Candidate’s Name
  • DOB (Date Of Birth)
  • Category
  • OPH Status
  • E-mail Id
  • Mobile Number

You will also be provided with a correction window from the 1st to the 3rd of March.

The final status of the Application Form will be uploaded on the 10th of March.

  • The candidates who appear before the counselling committee in the 1st round of counselling on being called on their turn for the allotment of seats will be eligible for the 2nd round of counselling. 
  • All the remaining candidates who could not be called by the counselling committee after the last rank on which the seat was allotted in the 1st round of counselling after the allotment of all available seats by the counselling committee is over, will be deemed present and will be eligible for further rounds of counselling for the AIIMS MBBS 2017.

How can I know about the confirmation of payment before opting for city choice for the AIIMS MBBS 2017?

If you have submitted the payment but did not succeed after about a minute, you will find a Pop-up Message.  Accordingly, click the OK Button and check the status of Transaction.  If Payment is “Successful” proceed to Step-3 (City Choice) and in the case of “Failed Transaction” you will have to make payment again and earlier payment made will directly be refunded in your account for the AIIMS MBBS 2017.

Please read Instructions given in the Prospectus regarding the above-mentioned certificates carefully. The requirements/formats are clearly mentioned therein. Certificates, as mentioned in the prospectus ONLY, will be considered/accepted. In case candidates fail to produce the certificates (as per instructions provided), at the time of Counselling, then they will not be permitted to participate in the Counselling.
PH Criteria – Candidates must possess a valid document certifying their physical disability conforming to judgment of Supreme Court of India i.e.

  • With the approval of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India vide letter no. 18018/2/2009-ME (P-1) dated 17.02.2009 it has been decided that while providing reservation for admission to medical course in the first instance candidates with disability of lower limbs between 50% to 70% shall be considered and in case candidates are not available to such candidates in that category then the candidates with disability of lower limbs between 40% to 50% will also be considered,
  • The disability certificate should be provided by a duly constituted and authorised Medical Board of the State or Central Govt. Hospitals/Institutions for the AIIMS MBBS 2017
