 What is CAT?

The Common Admission Test (CAT) is an online test held in India. The test scores an applicant on the basis of Quantitative Ability (QA), Verbal Ability (VA) and Reading Comprehension (RC), Data Interpretation (DI) and Logical Reasoning (LR). The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) began this exam and utilize the test for choosing understudies for their business organization programs. The test is led each year by one of the IIMs in view of an arrangement of turn. In August 2011, it was declared that Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and Indian Institute of Science (IISc) would likewise utilize the CAT scores, rather than the Joint Management Entrance Test (JMET), to choose understudies for their administration programs beginning with the 2012-14 batch. Common Admission Test (CAT) 2015 was directed by the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM Ahmedabad) on November 29, 2015. IIM Indore held Common Admission Test for the years 2013-14.

Preparation Tips for CAT 2017 Examination:

Before you start the preparation for the CAT exam go through Exam pattern thoroughly so that you can analyse the time to be given to different sections of the exam,
like which subjects and topics needed to concentrate more.

After analysing the Exam Pattern, Make a personalized syllabus for yourself and use it to study. Personalized syllabus - it means you need to categorize each and every syllabus
according to the difficulty level.
Eg. Categorize the syllabus according to the topics that you find ‘easy’, ‘Moderate’, ‘Difficult’ and ‘Very Difficult’ also understand the topics that you’re good at
and topics which you aren't good enough. Try to study the topics thoroughly in which you are good at.

Give Equal Attention to all 3 Sections:

While preparing for CAT 2017, you should not leave any topic of three sections, hence you need to pay equal attention to all 3 sections.

Make a Time Table:

Prepare a Time table which is sensible and flexible. For just because you have to study for 15 hours a day, but you can't, if you do the time table which is not sensible, you might skip the timetable written schedule, and the time table will be of no use.So prepare the time table which is manageable. Make time for other activities as well, like extra circular activities.

Time Management:

Keep it in mind, when you are at end of the preparation for CAT 2017 examination do not start learning new topics, rather focus more on the concepts that you’ve already learnt and solve. Mock test papers at least once a day keeping time limit to solve mock test paper question in your mind.

QTo get admitted into IIMs'

What should be my average score for CAT in order for me to get admitted to one of the prestigious IIMs'?

Asked By: Manish Chopra,
A Answer By: GetmyuniEnterprise

Candidates having 98, 98+, 99+ percentile in CAT, but lack past academic record, meaning, having 92, 96, 97, 99+ percentage in class 10 & 12 and 78, 80, 85, 88+ percentage in Bachelor’s again loses the chance of being shortlisted into IIMs'.

Another point which must be taken note of is that having an overall percentile of 99+ won’t make you eligible to get that call.

Along with it, you need to have a balanced and high percentile in all the three sections of CAT. Having 98 in QA, 99 in VARC but 75 in DILR would again mean losing that call.

So, If you're a candidate hoping to get admitted to any of the prestigious IIMs', I advise you to keep all your educational records top notch.
