Application Form Details for CAT 2018:

The registration process for CAT contains the following steps-

  • Make your profile on the official CAT 2018 website.
  • Log in with your CAT User ID and Password.
  • Enter your details into the CAT application form.
  • Pay online to conclude the registration process.

Step-wise Registration Details for CAT 2018:

Step 1. 

Register to obtain CAT User ID and Password:

  • Login the website, iimcat.ac.in

To start, click on “Register Now” and create your profile. The CAT 2018 registration form will be as follows.

Here, the candidates should fill in their details with care as they will not be allowed to make any changes in the CAT form after they have submitted it. Applicants will need to fill to fill in the following details –

  • Name of the Candidate
  • Date of Birth.
  • Email Address.
  • Mobile Number.
  • Enter the Captcha as displayed in the Captcha box.
  • Read the Declaration section and select “I Agree” to proceed to submit the CAT form.

After submitting the Registration Form, the candidates will receive their CAT 2018 Login Details on their email address that they provided. The CAT Login Details will contain the User ID and Password. With the login credentials, the candidates can log into the CAT website.

Step 2.

Login Using CAT 2018 Credentials:

The candidates are required to log in through their CAT 2018 Login Credentials and fill in the CAT Application Form. Click on " Existing User" button, On successful login, the candidates will be able to access the CAT Application Form.

Note: If the candidates forget the password, then click on “Forgot Password" to receive a new password through their CAT registered an email address.

Step 3. 

Fill in the CAT 2018 Application Form:

Applicants must fill in the following five sections in the form:

  • Personal Information
  • Academics
  • Work Experience
  • Programmes
  • Fee Payment

Reading the provided instructions before filling in the form is extremely important. Candidates are allowed to save their incomplete form and continue to fill the CAT 2018 Application Form according to their convenience. In the case of failure to fill in the compulsory fields, they will not be allowed to continue. The candidates must fill in the correct details in the CAT Application Form to avoid problems later.

The last section is where the candidates are required to pay the application fee.

After paying the CAT 2018 fee, the candidates will receive a confirmation e-mail. Here, they can take a printout of the CAT 2018 form or save the file.

Candidates are not allowed to make any changes in the CAT 2018 application form after this stage.

Step 3.1 – Personal Information to fill in the CAT 2018 Application Form

The name of the candidate will be filled automatically according to the information provided during the CAT Registration. Here the candidates are required to fill in their –

  • Father’s/Husband’s/Guardian’s Name and Gender.
  • Category (under which they will be applying)
  • Select the Person with disability/Differently Abled (If they fall in this category)
  • Enter communication address.
  • Upload documents (scanned images of passport size photograph, signature, category certificate and PWD/PA certificate).

Those who belong NC-OBC, SC/ST, They have to download the NC-OBC, SC/ST Certificates from the CAT website, enter the required information and attest signatures from the appropriate authorities, self-attest, and scan as PDF documents to upload the certificates on the CAT website.

  • Select Yes if you are a Person with disability (PWD). Additionally, select details under PWD Category of disability, Disability Percentage, Wheelchair Support and Scribe requirement. Note: In order to apply under the PWD category, the Disability Percentage should be equal to or greater than 40%. Download the Person with Disability (PWD) Certificate from the CAT website, enter the required information and attest signatures from the appropriate authorities, self-attest, and scan as PDF document to upload the certificates on the CAT website.

    Upload Documents In this section, you must upload all the mandatory documents as per your selections in the earlier sections.

  • Passport Size Photograph and Signature: Upload the scanned image of your passport photo within the dimensions of 30mm X 45mm. Also, upload the scanned image of your signature within the dimensions of 80mm X 35mm. The documents file format should be a .jpg or .jpeg and the file size should not be more than 80KB each. The image should be clear with a minimum resolution of 150px/inch. The photo should not be more than 6 months old and should have a white background. You will require the same photograph uploaded here, to be affixed on the admit card on the day of the test.
  • NC-OBC/SC/ST Certificate: Download the Certificate from the CAT Website, enter the required information and attest signatures from the appropriate authorities, self-attest, and scan as PDF document to upload here.
  • PWD Certificate: Download the Certificate from the CAT Website, enter the required information and attest signatures from the appropriate authorities, self-attest and scan as PDF document to upload here.

Note: The candidates applying under the Person with disability/Differently Abled Category must download the certificate from the official CAT 2018 website. Then they are required to enter the required information and self-attest before uploading the same onto the CAT 2018 Application Form.

On completion, the candidates can click on the Save & Continue button to proceed to the next section of the CAT 2018 Application form.

 

OBC Certificate:

What is an OBC Other Backward Caste Certificate?

An OBC Certificate is an evidence for one who belongs to a particular caste, especially in case one who belongs to any of the 'Other Backward Castes', as specified in the Indian Constitution.

Documents required for obtaining OBC Certificate:

1.Application Form

2.A copy of Ration Card / Copy of Voter Card / Copy of Aadhaar card.

 3.Report regarding caste Kulal /Dharji/ Damal/ MC / Sarpanch

     a. Annual Income report.

     b.No family member must be a govt employee.

     c. Caste / religion report

     d. In case of Women caste certificate before marriage

 4.Self-declaration Certificate.

 

SC-ST Certificate:

The Scheduled Castes(SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs) are different formally assigned gatherings of truly distraught individuals in India. The terms are perceived in the Constitution of India and the different gatherings are assigned in one or other of the classes.

PWD Certificate:

 It means that if a Person with disabilities candidate and for those people 3% seats are reserved. And it helps in getting seats in Government reserved seats like in colleges or Govt jobs.

Documents Required to obtain the PWD Certificate:

To obtain PWD Certificate he/she shall submit an application in Form I, and the application shall be accompanied by -

  • proof of residence
  • Ration card
  • Aadhaar card
  • Voter ID
  • two recent passport size photographs.

Step 3.2 – Academic Details to be filled in the CAT 2018 Application Form:

In this part of the CAT Application form, the candidates are required to enter their education details. So fill in the sections applicable. The various sections are –

  • SSC/10th Std/Equivalent Details
  • 12th/Equivalent/Diploma Course Details
  • Graduation Details
  • Other Professional Degree Details
  • Postgraduate Details

SSC/10th Std/Equivalent Details:

 For computing percentages of marks obtained in SSC/10th/Equivalent examination, the aggregate marks of all subjects that appear in the mark sheet/grade sheet would be considered irrespective of the Boards regulation.

HSC/12th/Equivalent/Diploma Course Details:

Select Course Type as 12th Std/Equivalent it is equivalent to HSC or school structure of two-year education post 10th standard, else select Diploma. Enter all the relevant details. Bachelor’s Degree Details:

 Enter the details based on whether you are currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree or have completed your Bachelor’s degree. This section would also apply to those who have an Honours Bachelor’s degree too.

Master Degree Details:

 If you choose to enter your Master’s Degree details, then select if you are currently pursuing it or have completed it.

5 .Other Professional Degree Details:

 If you have a professional degree such as CA, ICWA, CS, then select all that apply. However, enter marks only for the degree you have scored the most. Note: If you have not undergone any Bachelor Degree, then completion of any one of the above professional degrees is mandatory.

Click on Save & Continue to proceed to the next section.

The candidates must be careful while filling this section in the CAT 2018 application form.

If shortlisted in the pre-admission CAT 2018 admission rounds, the candidates are required to produce their original & copies of their academic certificates. If the information on the certificates varies with the information entered in the CAT 2018 Application form, then the candidate's CAT 2018 Admission will be cancelled.

On completion, the candidates can click on the Save & Continue button to go to the next section of the CAT 2018 application form.

Step 3.3 – Work Experience:

If the candidates have any prior work experience, then they can fill in their experience details in the CAT 2018 Application. The calculation of the experience must be in completed months until July 31, 2018. The work experience refers to

Step 3.4 – Programmes offered through CAT 2018: 

In this section, the candidates are expected to fill the CAT program details such as select the number of CAT programs they wish to apply for.

Also, they must select the city for the Interview rounds from the respective drop-down list of CAT centres.

However, the candidates opting for the PGP/PGDM courses at the following IIMs are advised to select the same city for the Interview rounds for all the selections.

  • IIM Kashipur
  • IIM Raipur
  • IIM Ranchi
  • IIM Rohtak
  • IIM Tiruchirappalli
  • IIM Udaipur

Exam Centre City Preferences:

 You can select any four Test Cities as per your preference from the drop down menu. After the last date of registration, you will be allotted one among the 4 preferred cities and either of the two sessions. In the rare case that you cannot be allotted to any of the preferred cities, you will be allotted to a nearby city. This information will be communicated to you on your Admit Card.

While selecting the city for taking the CAT 2018 Exam, the candidates can select 4 CAT centre cities. The city allocated to the candidates will be based on the CAT test centre and its availability. The candidates admit card will furnish the name of the exam city along with other details. While selecting the city, the candidates can only select a city only once.

Test Fees:

The registration fee changes every year. Currently, the form is available for INR. 1700 for General Category and for INR. 850 for SC/ST/PWD categories. Extra charges are applicable on the final amount.

For General & NC-OBC category

Step 5.Payment :

                     A General / NC-OBC candidate will be charged Rs.1700 while an SC/ST /PWD candidate will be charged Rs.850 to take the CAT 2016 examination. The final amount will also include applicable additional charges as per the table below.

Step 6.Declaration:

In the final section, the Declaration window appears, tick " I agree" and click on "Submit and Pay" button.

And make the Payment using a Credit card, Debit card or Net Banking option. After the successful transaction of your payment, a Payment Successful message will be displayed on the screen along with the Payment Transaction Number. You will then be redirected to the CAT 2018 website.

You will also receive a confirmation email stating the successful submission of your CAT 2018. Application within a few minutes. The email will also contain communication on additional details such as Admit Card download window.

As per the rules followed by CAT 2018:

  • Students will have four options to select the test cities in order of their preference. Candidates do not have to be in a rush during the preliminary registration days to block slots.
  • Candidates will be given their preferred city. In case, they do not get the first preference, the same process will be repeated for the second, third and fourth chosen city. The centre will be assigned to students by CAT Centre on a random basis. Candidates do not have the alternative to choose. 

Mode of Payment:

The test fee can be paid via Debit/Credit cards or through internet banking. Offline payment option is not available.
