About CEED 2017:

The Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED 2017) aims to assess the candidate’s aptitude for design. There are various aspects under CEED 2017 that include drawing skills, logical reasoning, creativity, communication, problem-solving skills etc. CEED is annually conducted by IIT Bombay as a qualifying examination for eligible students to obtain admission to Master of Design (MDes) programs and PhD programs at the following colleges:

  • IISC Bangalore
  • IIT Bombay
  • IIT Delhi (Does not include PhD)
  • IIT Guwahati (Does not include PhD)
  • IIT Hyderabad
  • IIT Kanpur

After qualifying in CEED, other tests/interviews may be further conducted for the final selection and admission. These institutes will also verify all the certificates and documents submitted by the candidate in the CEED 2017 application form. An eligible applicant can give any number of attempts for CEED exam. Note that the validity of the CEED score is for one year from the date of result declaration.

CEED 2017 Important Dates

  • Application Registration Date: The applications for CEED 2017 can be submitted from the 17th of October until the 11th of November 2016.
  • Application Registration with Late Fee: Submission of late applications between 12-18th of November 2016.
  • Admit Card Availability: The admit card can be downloaded from the CEED 2017 website on the 22nd of January 2017.
  • Last Date to Rectify Discrepancies: By the 9th of January 2017.
  • Examination of CEED 2017: The Examination for CEED 2017 will commence on the 22nd of January 2017.
  • Availability of Results: The Results for CEED 2017 will be available on the 15th of March 2017.

CEED 2017 Eligibility

  • Age Limit: The applicant must be at least 21 years of age to be eligible for CEED 2017. However, there is no maximum age limit to be eligible for CEED. Eligible applicants are allowed to take up CEED exam any number of times. The CEED score is valid for one year.
  • Education Qualification: Applicant must have completed Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Architecture or Design or Interior Design or equivalent (4 years program after 10+2) to have eligibility for CEED 2017. Applicants who have passed Professional Diploma in Design (NID or CEPT or any equivalent program of 4 years after completing 10+2) are eligible to apply for CEED 2017. Applicants who have cleared B.F.A. (4 years professional program after 10+2) are eligible for CEED 2017. Applicants who have passed G.D. Art (5 years program after 10th) have eligibility to apply for CEED 2017. Applicants who have cleared Master’s degree in Arts or Science or Computer Applications (2-year program after 10+2+3) with one year of professional experience after post-graduation are also eligible to apply for CEED 2017.Candidates who are finishing such a course by July 2017 are eligible for CEED 2017.

CEED 2017 Application Process

  • Obtaining the CEED 2017 application: The CEED 2017 applications can be obtained only online. Candidates will have to visit the official website for CEED 2017 and fill the required details.
  • Application Form to CEED: Candidates will have to fill in the important details required in the application form, Upload the required documents (photo, signature, certificates for a degree, diploma, experience, category etc) for CEED 2017 application.
  • Payment Mode: The payment for the Application Form of CEED 2017 can be done online using Credit/Debit Card or Net Banking.
  • Application Fee: 
    • Women Candidates: INR 1100.
    • SC/ST/PwD: INR 1100
    • Other Candidates: INR 2200

CEED 2017 Application Form Details

  • Documents Required for CEED 2017 Application: 
    1. Recent colour photograph in JPG file format
    2. Scanned copy of signature in JPG file format
    3. Candidates applying for CEED 2017 in SC/ST/OBC NCL category must produce valid certificates issued by the concerned authorities in PDF file.
    4. PwD medical certificate.
    5. Experience certificate.
    6. Scanned copy of degree/diploma certificates in PDF file. If the course is not completed, the candidate must produce a proof certificate from Head of Department or Principal of the college.
  • Important points to note for CEED 2017: 
    1. Poor quality uploads of above-mentioned files may lead to rejection of CEED 2017 application forms.
    2. The merit list (ranks) for CEED will be put up according to category mentioned by the applicant. It must be ensured that category certificate is uploaded along with the CEED 2017 application form.
    3. The CEED 2017 application may be rejected if the information given by the candidate is invalid or incomplete.
    4. Candidate must verify all personal and contact details, and qualifying exam before final submission of CEED 2017 application form as they will be printed on the admit card.

CEED 2017 Admit Card

  • Availing the Admit Card: The candidates who have applied for CEED 2017 can avail the admit card from the CEED 2017 website from the 26th of December 2016 until the 21st of January 2017. Candidates should note that the CEED 2017 admit card will not be sent via post.  
  • Details on the Admit Card: The CEED 2017 Admit Card contains all personal details including the photo of the candidate.
  • Admit Card to CEED 2017: Without the CEED 2017 admit card, an applicant is not allowed to enter the CEED 2017 examination hall. An applicant can download the admit card from the official website of CEED. It is advised that the applicant must take a printout of the CEED 2017 admit card and must preserve it carefully and later present it at the time of the exam. Also, note that the CEED 2017 admit card must be printed in colour with details clearly visible. Note that the applicant must bring a valid photo ID proof along with the admit card to the CEED 2017 exam centre, without which they will not be permitted.

CEED 2017 Exam Pattern

  • Mode of CEED Exam: The CEED 2017 consists of two parts, Part A and Part B. Where the former is a CBT and the later is pen-paper based exam.
  • Duration of Exam: 01 hours allotted.
  • Marking Scheme for CEED Exam: Each correct answer is marked positively, however, there are no negative marking for CEED 2017.
  • CEED Exam Paper: The examination paper consists of 4 sections, First section Numerical Answer Type (NAT) consisting of 10 questions. The Second section Multiple Select Questions (MSQ) containing 10 questions and the Third section Multiple Choice Questions(MCQ) consisting. The total marks allotted for the CEED 2017 examination are 100.

  • CEED 2017 Examination Type: CEED is conducted in two sections, where Part A is computer based and Part B is pen and paper based.

CEED 2017 Results

  • Availability of CEED 2017 Results: The results of the CEED 2017 exam will be published on the CEED website on 10th Match 2017.  Note that the authority will not send a hard copy of the CEED 2017 score card. Information provided by the candidates in the CEED 2017 application form will be shared with concerned institutes and used for reference.
  • Obtaining CEED 2017 Result: The applicants can view their result on the official website of CEED. They are advised to take a colour print out of the CEED 2017 scorecard for future reference. The CEED 2017 results are declared after assessing the scores of both Part A and Part B of CEED 2017.The scorecard for CEED 2017 becomes available for download in PDF format.

CEED 2017 Counselling

  • Counselling Date: Shortlisted candidates will be able to check their counselling dates on the official website of CEED 2017 on the 15th of March 2017. Candidates having cleared CEED 2017 will have to appear for Design Aptitude Test Screening. Further shortlisted candidates will have to attend a personal interview and can then select their desired course and institutes.
  • Eligibility: Only applicants who clear the Part-A of CEED 2017 are entitled to be evaluated for Part-B. Results and merit list for CEED 2017 will be announced only on the basis of evaluation of Part-B. CEED counselling will be conducted only after CEED 2017 results are announced. The counselling is done for applicants who have cleared the CEED 2017 exam and are called for counselling on the basis of the performance in Part-B. Courses available according to performance will be published.
  • Documents to carry for Counselling Process: Candidates are required to bring their original documents, CEED admit card and certificates during counselling. If the applicants fail to bring the required documents and certificates for counselling, they will not be eligible for admission.

There is no age limit and a candidate can appear in CEED any number of times.
