About CLAT 2017:

One of the most important entrance examinations to pursue a career in law is the Common Law Admission Test. It is also known as CLAT nationwide by law aspirants. The examination is conducted every year by 17 law Universities in India in which a candidate’s skills are tested based on multiple choice questions asked from different subjects such as General knowledge, Mathematics, English, Legal, and logical reasoning.

Those candidates who have cleared their 12th are allowed to appear for the examination.

CLAT is conducted by National Law Universities (NLUs) in India. There is a total of 18 NLUs in the country as of now. The responsibility of carrying out CLAT examination is given to a particular NLU every year. There are around 1100 seats in NLUs all over the country.

CLAT 2017 Important Dates

  • Application Start Date: First week of January 2017 to last week of March 2017.
  • Last Day For Application Submission: Last Week Of March 2017.
  • Admission Start Date: Fourth week of May 2017 to First Week of July 2017.
  • Admit Card Date: Mid-April 2017.
  • CLAT 2017 Examination: 1st to 2nd week of May 2017.
  • Results: 3rd to 4th week of May 2017.
  • Admission Closing: First week of July 2017.

CLAT 2017 Eligibility

  • Minimum Education Qualification: 10th+12th from a recognised board or university, Students from General Category must have completed their 12th level with minimum 45% marks to satisfy the eligibility criteria for CLAT also who are awaiting their 10th and 12th results are eligible. The CLAT aspirant for post graduate courses must have done LLB degree from a recognised institute with minimum 55%. However, the requirement of percentage is 50% for ST and SC candidates and specially-abled students.
  • Age Limit: General Category-22years, SC/ST- not less than 22years.
  • Nationality: Indian candidates and NRI's.

CLAT 2017 Application Process

  • How to apply?: Visit the official website for CLAT 2017 examination, fill out the Application form with the required details.
  • Documents Required During Application Process: SC/ST Certificates (if applicable), Domicile Certificates (if required), Birth Certificate, Passport size photographs, Uploaded signature. 
  • Payment Method: Online, via Credit/Debit or Net Banking.

CLAT 2017 Application Form Details

  • Application Process: Registration is done online only starting from 1st week of January 2017
  • Documents Required: Passport size photograph, Valid Signatures, SC/ST certificate (if applicable), Domicile Certificate (if applicable).
  • Last Date for Submission: Last week of March 2017.
  • Fee Details: General Category- INR 4000/- and for SC/ST Category-INR 3500/-
  • Payment Mode: Debit/Credit Card or Net Banking.

CLAT 2017 Admit Card

  • Where to obtain: Candidates should log into the official website, enter their application number and DOB to download the Admit Card.
  • Details on Admit Card: Date, time, location, roll number, the name of the candidate, name of the said candidate's parents, application number et cetera. It is essential for candidates to verify these details on the admit card before appearing for the exam.

CLAT 2017 Exam Pattern

  • Duration of Exam: 2 hours.
  • Marking Scheme: Each right answer carries 1 mark whereas every wrong answer carries a negative marking of 0.25 (both PG&UG).
  • The number of questions for PG courses and Marks allotted: 150 questions, 150 Marks.
  • The number of questions for UG courses and Marks allotted: 200question, 200 Marks.

CLAT 2017 Syllabus

  • Subjects: English, General Knowledge and Current Affairs, Elementary Math, Legal Aptitude, Legal Reasoning.
  • Total Marks Alotted: 200 marks

CLAT 2017 Results

  • Date of Announcement: Month of May 2017.
  • How to obtain?: By visiting the official website for CLAT 2017, entering the Registration ID and Password of the candidate.

In order to get admission in Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University, one has to take CLAT which is conducted once in a year. Usually, one with a rank ranging from 1500 to 2500 can easily get admission.

The Mock Test will be available on the Official Website (www.clat.ac.in) shortly.

The candidate can use the same and practise as many times as he/she wants. This will give look and feel of the format of online examination (Computer Based Test) in a simulation environment.

It can also be downloaded and can be installed on a stand-alone computer with NO COST.

To be eligible to appear for the CLAT examination 2017, candidates from general category must not be older than 20 years as on July 1st, 2017. Candidates from SC and ST category should not be less than 22 years as, on July 1st, 2017 or they aren't eligible. There is no upper age limit specified and candidates above the specified age limit are eligible to apply for the CLAT exam.

Note: 

Only Indian candidates are eligible to apply for the examination. Students with a compartment in 12th also are eligible to apply for CLAT 2017.

Even NRI's are eligible to appear for the exams.

Only candidates who have appeared and passed the in the qualifying exam are eligible to write the CLAT. The candidates who have written the supplementary are also eligible to appear for CLAT provided they produce proof of having cleared the supplementary.
