  • The Common Proficiency Test is the entry level examination for Chartered Accountancy Certification in India.
  • The students who want to pursue the CA course, have to appear for CPT 2017 examination and must have cleared or passed 10+2 examination. 
  • In accordance with the Chartered Accountants Regulations 1988, the Various examination is conducted by ICIA.
  • CPT exams are held on June and December.
  • The CPT 2017 is conducted by ICIA exam.
  • The CPT is a challenging examination for which thousands of students appear annually.
  • The pass percentage for CPT is very small (39%), making it very difficult and a matter of prestige for those who successfully clear CPT.
  • The Common Proficiency Test is conducted twice annually, usually in the months of June and December.
  • The results for CPT are published within one month from the date of the CPT examination. Candidates can apply for CPT after clearing the tenth-grade examination and write the CPT examination after completing the 10+2 level.
  • The results for CPT will tentatively be published within 3-4 weeks after the exam.

Globally 93,262 students appeared for CPT examination which was held on June 2017.  

CPT exam pattern Overview:

CPT 2017 examination is conducted Offline mode only( Pen and Paper Based Examination).

CPT Examination is Conducted in two different mediums either English or Hindi, as preferred by the student.

This is an Objective type of examination, which is divided into two different sections. The objective types questions consist of 200 questions.

There will be One paper 2 sessions.

  • Accounting+Mercentile
  • Economics+ Quantitative Aptitude

CA CPT2017 Cutoff :

The candidates appearing or CPT 2017 must have passed the 10+2 examination. Candidates have to score minimum marks to get shortlisted to Common Proficiency Course CPC. The candidates must have scored a minimum average of 50% overall in both the sections, that is minimum 30% marks in each section.

 Reservation for CPT Exam:

There is no Reservation scheme for students who belong to General/OBC/SC/ST. The seats are reserved equally for all the students.

From 3rd Aug 2012, for the Graduates, Post Graduates and the students having equivalent degrees, CPT is exempted
Commerce graduates who have a minimum of 55% and other graduates with a minimum of 60% can take direct admission for IPCC.

Eligibility Criteria and Admission Process:

The eligibility criteria were to meeting the cutoff percentage. The admission process was the same as other colleges. I took CPT examination and scored with 127 marks for it. The cutoff ranged from 95-96 percentile. 75 percentage for my course in JMC.

Eligibility Criteria and Admission Process:
  • Eligibility criteria for studying (hons) is 10+2 commerce. Rather students who don't want to study science anymore for there bachelors degree can change to commerce.
  • Admission procedure is of two types - offline and online. Most of the students choose the online mode for easy process.
  • I decided to appear for the CPT exam.
  • The typical cutoffs are 50% for general students and 45% for ST/SC/OBC students.

Eligibility Criteria and Admission Process:
  • The entrance exam for CA is CPT which I have cleared it in Dec 2013 with 162 /200 and later IPCC which is 9 moths after CPT which was cleared by me in Nov 2014 and now preparing for CA final.
  • The typical cutoff marks are subjects wise cutoff i.e. 40% and Groupwise cutoff i.e. overall 50%.
