Eligibility Criteria for CTET 2018:

The candidates fulfilling the below mentioned criteria are eligible to appear in CTET examination

Minimum Qualifications required to become a Teacher in the Primary Classes (I-V):

Candidates need to fulfil any one of the below mentioned criteria:

  • Candidate must have Passed Senior Secondary examination or its equivalent examination with at least 50% marks and should be passed/ appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)
  • Candidate must have Passed Senior Secondary examination or its equivalent examination with at least 45% marks and should be passed/ appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations, 2002
  • Candidate must have Passed Senior Secondary examination or its equivalent examination with at least 50% marks and should be passed/ appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.)
  • Candidate must have Passed Senior Secondary examination or its equivalent examination with at least 50% marks and should be passed/ appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)
  • Candidate must have completed Graduation with at least 50% marks and should be passed/ appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)

Minimum Qualifications required to become a Teacher in the Secondary Classes (VI-VIII):

Candidates need to fulfil any one of the below mentioned criteria:

  • Candidate must have completed Graduation with at least 50% marks and should be passed/ appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)
  • Candidate must have completed Graduation with at least 50% marks and should be passed/ appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.)
  • Candidate must have completed Graduation with at least 50% marks and should be passed/ appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.),  in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard 
  • Candidate must have Passed Senior Secondary examination or its equivalent examination with at least 50% marks and should be passed/ appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.)
  • Candidate must have Passed Senior Secondary examination or its equivalent examination with at least 50% marks and should be passed/ appearing in final year of 4-year B.A./ B.Sc.Ed or B.A. Ed/ B.Sc.Ed
  • Candidate must have completed Graduation with at least 50% marks and should be passed/ appearing in 1-year B.Ed.(Special Education)

NOTE: 

  • Candidates belonging to the SC/ ST/ OBC/ Differently Abled categories will be given the 5% relaxation in marks in the minimum Educational Qualification.
  • Any Diploma or Degree Course in teacher education recognized by National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) will only be considered. If it is Diploma in Education (Special Education) and B.Ed. (Special Education) then it must be recognized by Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI)
  • If person has completed his/ her Diploma in Education (Special Education) then also he/ she needs to undergo an NCTE recognized 6-month Special Programme in Elementary Education 
  • The qualifications which are mentioned above are applicable to teachers of Mathematics, Science, Social Studies/ Social Science Languages etc.
  • For the teachers of Physical Education, they should refer to NCTE Regulation, dated 3rd November 2001 ( as amended from time to time) 
  • Similarly, teachers of Art Education, Craft Education, Home Science, Work Education etc  should refer to School Management or respective State Government till the time NCTE pens down any rule
