About CUSAT CAT 2018:

The Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) is a government owned self-governing university located in the Kochi district of Kerala. It offers 9 different faculties at present, which include engineering, environmental studies, humanities, law, marine sciences, medical sciences and technology, science, social sciences and technology and has 27 departments for UG, PG, and research programs. Cochin University has invited online CUSAT application form for providing admission into various courses offered by this university. The applicant will get admission on the basis of their performance in CUSAT entrance exam.  The candidates may get registered via online through the official site. Interested candidates may check details of CUSAT CAT 2018 regarding eligibility criteria, age limit, selection process, how to apply exam pattern etc

Every year it conducts Common Admission Test (CAT), Lateral Entry Test (LET) and Departmental Admission Test (DAT).

On the basis of these tests, candidates are shortlisted for admission in the UG, PG and PhD programmers of the university. CAT 2018 will be conducted for the B. tech Programme and all other PG programmers.

CUSATCAT 2018 Important Dates

  • The notification of (CUSAT/CAT/LET/DAT) will be released in the third week of January 2018.
  • Online registration for CUSAT CAT, LET and PG programmes which include M.Tech and MBA programmes will start from 8th February 2018 
  • The last Date for Online CUSAT Registration is 28th March 2018 
  • The last date for the online registration for Indian & NRI Candidates are in the last week of April 2018
  • The last date for the online registration For the International Candidates/PIO/ Children of Indian Gulf Workers is in the last week of April 2018.
  • The last date for the CUSAT Payment of Fees (For Indian & NRI Candidates) is in the last week of February 2018.
  • The CUSAT Admit card Download Date (only for CAT/LET) will be in the third week of April 2018.
  • The CUSAT examination is scheduled to be in the last of April 2018 to the first week of May 2018.
  • The CUSAT results will be announced(CAT) in the last week of May 2018.

CUSATCAT 2018 Eligibility

CUSAT CAT eligibility criteria:

There is a separate eligibility criterion for every programme.Candidates satisfying the eligibility criteria can fill the Application Form.

The eligibility criteria for CUSAT CAT 2018 is as follows:

  • All Indian/Foreign/PIO candidates are eligible to sit for the CUSAT test.
  • The candidates belonging to the Kerala Scheduled Tribe (KST) and Kerala Scheduled Cast (KSC) communities are eligible only if they have minimum passing marks in the qualifying examination except for Marine Engineering to satisfy the eligibility criteria for CUSAT CAT.
  • For all UG courses (except Marine Engineering), the eligibility criteria for SEBC candidates with Non-Creamy Layer Status of Kerala State into B.Tech programme is minimum 45% in Mathematics and 45% in PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) put together in the qualifying examination for candidates to satisfy the eligibility criteria.
  • For PG Courses, SEBC-NCL candidates of Kerala state are given a relaxation of 5% in the minimum marks for or unless otherwise specified.
  • The candidates applying for M.Tech Programmes  with a valid GATE score card are eligible for 5% relaxation in the qualifying examination marks.
  • The candidates who want to pursue a B.Tech programme, should  have qualified class 12th from the state of Kerala or any other equivalent board with PCM.
  • The candidates applying for MBA programmes should clear MAT 2018/ C-MAT 2018/ CAT 2018 examination to satisfy the eligibility criteria for CUSAT CAT 2018.
  • Those candidates who want to get admission into the M.Tech programme (except Marine engineering), have to clear GATE 2018 or DAT 2018 (conducted by the university) to satisfy the eligibility criteria.

CUSATCAT 2018 Application Process

The application process for CUSAT CAT 2018:

  • Eligible candidates can fill the application form on the official websites.

The CUSAT CAT application process is as follows:

  • The candidates have to register online for being able to fill up the CUSAT CAT application form.
  • The candidates have to enter their basic details such as name, date of birth, valid email ID, phone number, etc. to create their CUSAT CAT account.
  • A user-id and password will be created which will be sent to the candidate via mail or SMS.
  • The candidates will need to log in with the given user CUSAT CAT ID and password.
  • The candidates will have to enter all the details as asked in the CUSAT CAT application form.
  • After entering all the relevant details, candidates will require to upload the scanned images of their recent passport size coloured photograph and signature.
  • The candidates will require paying the CUSAT CAT application fee online through Debit card/ Credit card/ Net banking or through Challan (SBI or SBT bank only).
  • The candidates must ensure to take a print out of the “Confirmation Page” and retain it for future reference.

CUSATCAT 2018 Application Form Details

CUSAT CAT 2018 Application Form:

  • The CUSAT 2018 Application form is available online on the official portal of the university. It has been updated by the university that CUSAT CAT online registration will start from the third week of January 2018 (tentative). The last date for online registration will be the third week of February 2018. The last date for NRI candidates and for international Candidates/PIO/ Children of Indian Gulf Workers will lie in the last week of April 2018 After CUSAT CAT registration, a candidate can save the confirmation page for the future use. There is no need to send any documents by post.

 Application Fee for CUSAT CAT:  

  • The Candidates are required to pay the CUSAT CAT application fee through an online payment gateway or offline mode.
  • Applicants who are applying for the Post-Doctoral, Ph.D., M.Phil, Diploma & Certificate Programmers, are required to submit the CUSAT CAT application fee at the concerned departments in the form of DD from SBT or SBI drawn in favour of The Register, CUSAT, and Payable at Ernakulum.

 The categories and the Application fees:

  • The general candidate's Application form will cost Rs 1000/-
  • The SC/ST candidates Application form will cost Rs 500/-
  • The International candidates like /PIO/ Children of Indian Gulf Workers Application form will cost US$100.
  • The NRI candidate's Application form will cost Rs 6000/-
  • The additional Fee paid by the Candidates opting for Dubai as Test Centre Application form will cost Rs 10000/-
  • The PhD and M.Phil. Programmes Application form will cost Rs 1000(Rs 500 for the SC/ST candidates).
  • The PhD, Diploma, certificate Programmes Application form will cost Rs 100(Rs 50 for the SC/ST candidates).

CUSATCAT 2018 Admit Card

CUSAT CAT 2018 Admit Card:

  • All the candidates who have submitted the CUSAT CAT Application form successfully get entitled to receive their Admit Card, before appearing for the CUSAT CAT examination.  The CUSAT CAT admit card issued by the exam conducting body for CUSAT 2018 can be downloaded from the official site of the Cochin University.
  • Tentatively, the CUSAT CAT admit card will be available from the third week of April 2018. It is important for students to note that the CUSAT CAT admit card will not be sent to the candidate by post. The CUSAT CAT admit card should be kept safe by the candidate until the admission procedure gets over.

 How to download the CUSAT CAT admit card for 2018:

  • Go to the official CUSAT CAT website.
  • Click on the link for admit card.
  • Log in using the CUSAT CAT register number and password given at the time of CUSAT CAT application.
  • The CUSAT CAT admit card will be displayed on the screen.
  • Download the CUSAT CAT admit card and print it.

 Important details about the CUSAT CAT admit card:

  • The CUSAT CAT admit card contains important details regarding the candidate's registration number, examination centre etc.
  • It is important for all candidates to verify the details mentioned on the CUSAT CAT admit card and any wrong information should be reported to the concerned authorities and the inconsistency should be removed.
  • All candidates must carry the CUSAT CAT admit card to the exam hall without fail.
  • Without the CUSAT CAT admit card, they will not be allowed to write the CUSAT CAT exam.
  • Tampering with the admit card is not allowed. If a admit card is found to be tampered with, the candidate to whom the admit card belongs will be barred from writing the CUSAT CAT exam.
  • In case a candidate is not able to download the CUSAT CAT admit card, he/she can contact the office if CUSAT CAT examinations to the CUSAT CAT exam. The CUSAT CAT admit card is significant as it serves as a proof of identity.

 NOTE: The candidates can get their CUSAT CAT admit card by entering their respective CUSAT CAT enrollment number.

CUSATCAT 2018 Exam Pattern

Examination Pattern for CUSAT CAT 2018:

  • The CUSAT CAT 2018 will be conducted through an online test and the questions are based on the syllabus. For every correct answer 3 marks will be awarded and for an incorrect answer, 1 mark will be deducted. Please find below the CUSAT CAT exam pattern for First Degree programmes and Lateral Entry to III Semester B.Tech Programme (LET):

 The CUSAT CAT consists two papers:

  • Paper 1: It was of Mathematics and there are a total of 125 questions
  • Paper 2: This paper was comprised of Physics and Chemistry. There were be a total of 125 questions in the ratio of 3:2 (Physics 75 questions; Chemistry: 50 questions)
  • First Degree programmes: The question paper will comprise of 250 objective multiple choice questions which will be categorised as-125 questions from Mathematics and 125 questions from Physics and Chemistry. The time duration of this test is three hours. The question paper will be of 750 marks.
  • Lateral Entry to III Semester B.Tech Programme (LET): The question paper will have 200 objective type questions, which will be divided into 20 questions from English, 50 from Mathematics, 40 from engineering Mechanics, 40 from Engineering Graphics and 50 from General Engineering. The test will be of 3 hours and will carry 600 marks in total.

CUSATCAT 2018 Results

  • The results for CUSAT 2018 to be held in May 2018 will be declared by the Cochin University. The results will be declared on the official site of the conducting body. Students can check for the results in the last week of May tentatively. The exact dates of the declaration of the results are not yet specified and candidates should check the official website for regular notifications about the results, once the exam has been conducted. The declaration of results is followed by the Counselling session.
  • Candidates can enter the roll number on their CUSAT CAT Admit card to view the results. A CUSAT CAT merit list will be prepared on the basis of the performance of the candidate.
  • The CUSAT CAT 2018 Result will be directly based on the strong analysis of the result deciding factors.
  • The CUSAT CAT result can be checked either by using the link given in the post or from the official website. Insert the CUSAT CAT roll number and date of birth and check the result. No information of its declaration will be sent to the aspirants.

How to check the CUSAT CAT result 2018:

  • Visit the official CUSAT CAT website.
  • Click on the link given to check the CUSAT CAT results.
  • A new page opens up. Enter the required details and click on submit.
  • The results will be displayed on the screen.
  • Print a few copies of the CUSAT CAT result for future reference.

The declared CUSAT CAT result will show the following:

  • Name of the candidate
  • Aggregate scores in the exam
  • Marks in individual section
  • Category wise cut off marks.

 NOTE: The CUSAT CAT merit list for admissions to undergraduate and postgraduate courses will be published on the official portal of the University.

CUSATCAT 2018 Counselling

  • The CUSAT 2018 Counselling will start after the few weeks of the results announcement for all the candidates that have qualified the exam.
  • The counselling schedule will be updated on the official CUSAT CAT website. Call letters or any other communications is never sent to the candidate by post, they are informed through SMS on the number registered. During the counselling session, candidates have to register themselves for the specific academic programmes of the University.
  • Also, at the time of counselling, candidates will be provided with a link that will help them in registering through the login portal. The registered candidates will be allotted seats as per their rank and availability of the seats.

 The counselling process involves the following:

1. Registration: 

The first and the prime stage of the counselling procedure is the registration stage.At this stage, the candidates are required to enter the genuine details. If the candidate fails to register them on time, then they will be unable to participate in the counselling procedure.The details entered in the registration form should be correct and genuine.
 
2. Options entry:
 
In order to participate in the counselling procedure, the students need to enter their options as per their choice.For the options entry, the students need to enter their login credentials such as username and password and log in the account.The options available to them shall be displayed on the screen and the candidates can select the same as per their choice.This is the one – time facility for the students in which they have the opportunity to select the options.It is recommended that the students should place the most prior options on the top and then the rest one.Once the choices will be locked by the candidates, it will never modify or alter the same.These options play the important role in the seat allotment round.
 
3. Seat Allotment round:
 
Finally, the official authority processed the options entered by the students so as to allow the seats to them.This is the last and the final round of the CUSAT CAT 2018 Counselling. Basically, the seats will be granted to the students as per the choice of the student, the rank of the candidate and availability of seats at that rank.
The student with the higher rank will be given priority at the time of seat allocation. Also, the students whose rank is lower than that student will never think of bypassing him.The rank of the student plays the crucial role in the seat allotment round

  • Those whose are allotted mus go to Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) for counseling and admission.
