About IISER 2017:

Indian Institute of Science Education and Research conducts Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) or IISER Aptitude Test every year for admissions into 6 IISER institutes in India. The examination allows applicants to pursue a course in Integrated BS-MS dual degree program. Applications for the examination will be available from the 2nd week of May, 2017. Channels for Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER) 2017:

Only through three key channels students can apply for the examination. These three channels are discussed below:

  • Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) Channel

Candidates with a valid fellowship of the current academic session can apply for the examination. Cut-off criteria applicable.

  • Joint Entrance Examination of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT—JEE) Channel

Candidates with 60 percent marks in their 12th examination who secure a ranking on the list of JEE are eligible. Cut-off criteria applicable.

  • State and Central Boards (SCB) Channel

Candidates who score marks equal or more than the cut-off list mentioned below are eligible to apply for the Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER) 2017 test. There is a relaxation of 5 percent for students from OBC-NC and PWD category.

Students from SC, ST, and Kashmiri migrants the cut-off is 55 percent for all boards in 12th.

IISER 2017 Important Dates

  • The important dates for the KVPY and JEE Channels Advanced Streams are as follows:
  • IISER opening of application portal: The application portal will be open from the first week of June, 2017 to the last week of June, 2017.
  • IISER first round of allotment of seats: The first round of allotment of seats under the KVPY and JEE Channel will be in the last week of June, 2017.
  • IISER payment of fees for first round of allotment: The fees should be paid by the second week of July, 2017.
  • IISER Float option: The candidate can exercise the float option in the second week of July, 2017.
  • IISER second round of allotment of seats: The second round of allotment of seats under the KVPY and JEE Channel will be in the second week of July, 2017.
  • IISER payment of fees for second round of allotment: The fees can be paid from the second week of July, 2017 to the third week os July, 2017.
  • IISER third round of allotment of seats: The third round of allotment of seats under the JEE stream will be in the first week of August, 2017.
  • The important dates for the SCB stream are as follows:
  • IISER opening of application portal: The application portal will be open from the first week of June, 2017 to the first week of July, 2017.
  • IISER SCB Aptitude test: The IISER SCB Aptitude test will be held in the second week of July, 2017.
  • IISER first round of allotment of seats: The first round of allotment of seats under the SCB category will be in the third week of July, 2017.
  • IISER deadline for payment of fees for first round of allotment: The fees can be paid in the third week of July, 2017.
  • IISER Float option: The candidates can exercise the Float option in the last week of July, 2017.

  • IISER Payment of fees for second round of allotment: The fees should be paid in the last week of July, 2017.
  • IISER third round of allotment of seats: The third round of allotment of seats under the SCB stream will be in the first week of August, 2017.

 

IISER 2017 Eligibility

  • Eligibility criteria regarding qualification: The candidates must have passed their 12th standard examination and Bachelor's degree to be eligible. Candidates who are going to appear for their 12th standard examination in the current year are also eligible.
  • Eligibility  criteria regarding Nationality: The candidate should be an Indian National. Candidates who are belong to the PIO or OCI category are also eligible.
  • Eligibility criteria regarding qualifying marks: The General/OBC-NCL category candidates should have atleast 55% aggregate marks in the qualifying exam. The SC/ST and PwD category candidates should have atleast 50% aggregate marks in the qualifying exam. The marks should not be rounded off.

 

IISER 2017 Application Process

  • Official website: The candidates have to go to the official website to download the application form.
  • Registration process: The candidates have to go to the official website and click on the 'IISER application form' link. The candidate has to enter all the required details and submit the form. The candidate has to enter his/her personal, contact, and other details. Once the form has been submitted an SBI payment slip will be generated.
  • Payment: The candidate has to pay the fees and note down the journal number.
  • Verification and uploading documents: The candidate has to verify all the information and upload a scanned image of a passport size photograph. The photo should be in JPG format and the size should be less than 100 kb.
  • Submission: The candidate has to submit the form and then take a print out of the application form.

 

 

IISER 2017 Application Form Details

  • The IISER application form will be available online.
  • Examination fee: The examination fee for the General category candidates is Rs. 1500/- and the examination fee for the Reserved category candidates and the Kashmiri migrants is Rs. 750/-

 

 

IISER 2017 Admit Card

  • Admit card release date: The admit card will be released in the last week of June 2017.
  • Mandatory document: The IISER admit card is a mandatory document.
  • The admit card can be downloaded from the official website.
  • Details: The admit card contains details such as name, roll number, time of the exam, IISER examination center, etc.
  • Identity proof: The candidates have to bring their admit card and an identity proof to the exam.
  • OMR sheet: The candidates must enter their Name, Date of birth, etc. in the IISER OMR sheet. The candidate must also sign the answer sheet.
  • Unfair means: The candidate must not adopt any unfair means.
  • Candidates must report to the examination hall by 9:30 am. Candidates will not be allowed inside the hall if late by more than 30 minutes.
  • Candidates are not allowed to leave the examination hall during the Aptitude test.

 

IISER 2017 Exam Pattern

  • Subjects: The subjects are Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics.
  • Type of questions: There will be multiple choice questions.
  • Marking scheme: For every correct answer three marks will be awarded and for every wrong answer one mark will be deducted.
  • Duration: The exam will be for a duration of 3 hours.
  • Subject wise mark allocation: There will be 15 questions from each subject.
  • Number of questions: There will be a total of 60 questions.

IISER 2017 Syllabus

  • The syllabus covers the 10th and 12th standard topics.
  • The syllabus for the IISER exam is as follows:
  • Mathematics: The topics are Sets, Relations and functions, Trigonometric Functions, Inverse Trigonometric Functions, etc.
  • Physics: The topics are Physical World and Measurement, Kinematics, Laws of Motion, Work, Energy and Power, etc.
  • Chemistry: The topics are Basic Concepts of Chemistry, Structure of Atom, Classification of Elements and Periodicity in Properties, Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure, etc.
  • Biology: The topics are Diversity in the living world, Structural organization in animals and plants, Cell structure and function, Plant physiology, etc.

 

 

 

 

 

IISER 2017 Results

  • Result date: The IISER result will be declared in the month of July.
  • Procedure: The candidate has to go to the official website and enter his/her registration number, date of birth and password. The candidate should type the code and click on the submit option. The IISER result will be displayed.
  • Cut-off: The cut-off varies from 67.8% to 95.4%.

 

IISER 2017 Counselling

  • The candidates who have cleared the exam and have come under the merit list will be called for the IISER counselling process.
  • JEE Main and KVYP qualifier counselling process: The IISER counselling for JEE Main and KVPY qualifier will be held in the month of June 2017.
  • SCB qualifier counselling process: The IISER counselling for SCB qualifier will be held in the month of July 2017.
  • Counselling results: Once the counseling results are declared the seats will be finalised and the candidates shall be granted admission to the institute.
