Every year Indian Institute of Technology Joint Admission Test (IIT JAM) is conducted on 12th February 2018  to allow admissions to candidates into Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D., M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree, M.Sc.-M.Tech. at IITs and Integrated Ph.D. Degree Programmes at IISc Bangalore. The registration for Indian Institute of Technology Joint Admission Test for M.Sc (IIT JAM) starts in the month of September every year.

 It is a national level test that is conducted once in a year. Candidates who crack the examination are enrolled into M.SC courses in reputed universities and colleges of India. A lot of students appear for the exam and only those who fulfill the eligibility criteria, qualify the test and other procedures, are given admission into the reputed institution. IIT JAM 2018 Important Dates

  • IIT JAM application form availability: The ITT JAM online application forms will be available from 5th September 2017 to 13th October 2017 
  • ITT JAM application form fee payment: The IIT JAM application fees should be paid by October 13th, 2018.
  • IIT JAM Admit Card: The IIT JAM admit card can be downloaded from 10th January 2018 
  • IIT JAM exam date: The IIT JAM exam will be held on 12th February 2018 
  • IIT JAM result: The IIT JAM results will be declared on 24th March 2018 
  • IIT JAM application form submission for admission: The IIT JAM application form should be submitted for admission on the IIT JAM 2018 website from 13th October 2017 
  • IIT JAM Change of category or rectification of defective documents: The last date for receipt of request for change of category in proper format/ rectification of defective documents at IIT Delhi is May 10th, 2018.
  • IIT JAM First admission list: The first IIT JAM admission list will be published on June 2nd 2018.
  • IIT JAM Second admission list: The second IIT JAM admission list will be published on June 20th 2018.
  • IIT JAM Third and final admission list: The third and final admission list will be published on July 3rd, 2018.
  • IIT JAM Closure of admission: The IIT JAM admissions will be closed on July 7th, 2018.

IIT JAM 2018 Eligibility

  • Eligibility criteria regarding education: Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree from a recognised institution. Candidates who have a degree from distance learning courses are also eligible. Candidates who are appearing for their final year examination can apply as well.
  • Eligibility criteria regarding qualifying marks: The General and OBC category candidates must have atleast 55% marks in their graduation to be eligible. ( 50% for reserved category candidates).
  • Eligibility criteria regarding Nationality: Indian and foreign nationals are eligible for the exam.

 

 

IIT JAM 2018 Application Process

  • Application Process: The IIT JAM online application process will begin on 5th September 2017  and end on 13th October 2017  The application forms will be available on the official website.
  • Registration: Candidates have to register themselves on the website by providing their basic details and contact details.
  • Enrollment Number: Once the registration process is complete an email will be sent which contains the candidate's enrollment number.
  • Details: Now the candidate has to login and fill in information about his/her parents, exam center, test paper and educational qualifications.
  • Scanned documents: The candidate has to upload a scanned copy of their photograph, signature, and SC/ST/PwD certificate (if applicable). Once the above details have been filled, review and submit the form. 
  • Application fee: Pay the application fee and submit the form.

 

 

IIT JAM 2018 Application Form Details

  • Application form availability: The IIT JAM online application forms will be available from 5th September 2017 to 13th October 2017 .
  • Application procedure and details: The IIT JAM application form will be available on the official website. Click on the IIT JAM Apply Online Link, fill in the required details, pay the fee and take a print out of the form and the payment receipt.
  • Application fees: The IIT JAM application fee is Rs. 1500 for the General and OBC category candidates for one paper and Rs. 2100 for two papers. For the reserved category candidates the fee is Rs. 750 for one paper and Rs. 1050 for two papers.

IIT JAM 2018 Admit Card

  • Date: The IIT JAM admit card will be available from 10th January 2018 
  • Admit Card download: The candidate has to visit the official website and click on the admit card portal. Candidates have to enter the details and click on submit. They have to download and print the admit card. 
  • Details required: The admit card contains details such as name, roll number, date, time and venue of the exam.
  • Admit card will not be sent via post.
  • It is a mandatory document and it should not be tampered with or plagiarized.

IIT JAM 2018 Exam Pattern

  • Section A: Section A contains 30 multiple choice questions which contains 10 questions carrying one mark each and 20 questions carrying two marks each. There is only one correct option out of the four options. There will be negative marking. For each wrong answer for the 1 mark questions, 1/3 marks will be deducted and for the 2 mark questions, 2/3 marks will be deducted.
  • Section B: Section B contains 10 multiple select questions carrying two marks each. There may be more than one correct option out of the four options. There are no negative or partial marking provisions.
  • Section C: Section C contains 20 Numerical Answer Type questions which consist of 10 questions carrying one mark each and 10 questions carrying two marks each. The answer is a signed real number. Candidates have to enter the answer using a virtual numeric keypad.
  • Questions which have not been attempted will be awarded zero marks.
  • Candidates will be provided with an online virtual calculator.
  • Duration: The exam will be for a duration of 3 hours.

IIT JAM 2018 Syllabus

  • The main topics for the IIT JAM exam are as follows:
  • Geology: The main topics are as follows Applied Geology, Economic Geology, Petrology, Mineralogy, Stratigraphy, etc.
  • Biological Sciences (BL): The main topics are as follows Mathematical Sciences, General Biology, etc.
  • Mathematics (MA): The main topics are as follows Real Analysis, Linear Algebra, Group Theory, Vector Calculus, Differential Equations, etc.
  • Biotechnology (BT): This paper has questions from Physics (18% weightage), Mathematics (18% weightage), Chemistry (18% weightage) and Biology (44% weightage). The syllabus is 10+2+3 level.
  • Mathematical Statistics (MS): The paper has two parts. The mathematics syllabus is as follows Differential Equations, Matrices,etc. The statistics syllabus is as follows Testing of Hypotheses, Estimation, Sampling distribution, Joint distribution, etc. Statistics carries 60% weightage and mathematics carries 40% weightage.
  • Chemistry (CY): The main topics are as follows Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, etc.
  • Physics (PH): Simple Oscillators, Solid state physics-devices and electronics, Modern physics, Kinetic theory, Thermodynamics, etc.

IIT JAM 2018 Results

  • Date:  The IIT JAM results will be published on March 27th, 2018. The results will be declared online.
  • Merit list: Merit lists will be prepared for the General, SC/ST and PwD category candidates.
  • Result procedure: Candidates have to visit the official page and click on the results portal. Candidates have to enter the details and click on submit. The results will be displayed on the screen. The result should be printed.
  • Scorecard: The IIT JAM scorecards will be available from April 9th, 2018 to July 31st, 2018. The score card will show the marks obtained and the candidate's All India rank.

 

 

IIT JAM 2018 Counselling

  • Candidates can apply for the counselling process through the JAM official portal.
  • Candidates can submit their application form for admission on the IIT JAM 2018 website from April 12th, 2018 to April 15th, 2018.
  • Counselling fee: Candidates have to pay a counselling fee of Rs. 600 via E-Challan through State Bank of India. It is nonrefundable.

  • DBS PG College is affiliated by Garhwal University which is a central university and being this it is considered to be composed of an elite group of colleges with mu college being one of them.
  • I cleared the IIT JAM exam.
  • The typical cutoff for my course is about 70% at the graduation level if one is a general candidate and lower if one belongs to other categories.

  • Eligibility criteria was at least 55% aggregate marks, without rounding off, (taking into account all subjects, including Languages and Subsidiaries, all years combined) for General/OBC-NCL Category Candidates and at least 50% aggregate marks, without rounding off, (taking into account all subjects, including Languages and Subsidiaries, all years combined) for SC/ST and PWD Category Candidates in the qualifying degree.

Eligibility Criteria and Admission Process:
  • I had to give ISM EE 2015 and got All India Rank 3 in merit basis, now after conversion to IIT(ISM) Dhanbad, the entrance will be IIT JAM 2016. Eligibility criteria for appearing in the exam is you must have completed your graduation career in geology with having two subjects from physics, chemistry and mathematics.
  • Mostly for general students cut off goes in and around 60 marks out of 100 marks paper. For obc students, it is in and around 50 out of 100 and for sc, it is 40-45 whereas for st candidates it is in and around 35-40 out of 100.

Eligibility Criteria and Admission Process:
  • To do M.sc. from an IIT /IISc.,IISERs, one has to complete his graduation with 55%(Gen). JUST like JEE MAIN, there is an Entrance exam, IIT JAM (Joint Admission Test for M.Sc.). The students in their final year of graduation period can also give this test. It is conducted online, and the questions are mostly concept based. So, one with good conceptual knowledge has a great chance to crack this exam. unlike, JEE MAIN, There is no huge competition to fight with. My subject is maths and in Maths, about 10,000 students attended this exam this year, among them, if one secures a rank under 500, has a chance to get an IIT.t good IITs.
  • This year the typical cutoff in Indian Institute of Technology was around 40% or above, quite higher than the previous years. But still, there is a good chance to score above 45, if you have good conceptual knowledge.
  • Once, you clear the test with a good rank, counseling is done, in which we have to give our preferences to choose an institute. Then according to our rank, we get offer letters from the Institutes.

Eligibility Criteria and Admission Process:
  • The eligibility criteria of doing m.sc. from any IIT is atleast 55% in B.Sc. and few IIT  have criteria 60 % in B.sc. in science stream (PCMB) and one more thing should remember is that (in 10+2 maths is compulsory subject).
  • The exam name is IIT JAM. it is conducted by IIT in the first week of feb. every year. the form submission starts on the first week of sept. to the first week of oct. the exam is 100 marks computer based 3 hr. 
  • The cut-off is not fixed bcoz lots of competitors are increasing continuously but for example in 2016 Gen. cut-off around 34 marks out of 100.

When will the Counselling Session for admissions to IIT JAM 2017 begin? Do I have to apply for that separately?

The Counselling session to IIT JAM will begin from the 12th to the 25th of April.

Candidates should give in a separate Application Form to IIT JAM along with a non-refundable Counselling fee of Rs. 600, which has to be paid via E-Challan through State bank of India.
