About MH CET Law:

Maharashtra Common Entrance Test for Law (MH CET Law 2017) is a state level entrance examination for law students conducted by the Government of Maharashtra.

MH CET Law exam is organised for those students looking for admissions in LL.B (Three Year) and LL.B (Integrated-Five Year) programmes offered by the colleges across Maharashtra.

On the basis of the MH CET Law scores, many law colleges across Maharashtra offer admission to students into the law courses.

There are 12 law Universities/Colleges of Maharashtra which will participate in MH CET Law 2017.  

Candidates will be tested on various topics such as Legal Aptitude and Logical Reasoning, General Knowledge and Current Affairs, Logical and Analytical Reasoning and English.

MH CET Law Seats and Reservation 2017:

DHE Maharashtra will be offering reservation benefits to candidates belonging to the reserved categories including SC, ST and OBC.

However, they should belong to the Maharashtra state, which means a candidate from any of these reserved categories but belonging to other state or Union Territory of India will not be able to avail the benefits and will be treated as General/ Open Category candidates.

The following percentage of seats will be reserved for each of these categories:

  • OBC – 27% of total seats

  • SC   – 15% of total seats

  • ST   – 7.5% of total seats


Latest News on MH CET Law:

  • BCI to increase the age limit for 5-year LL.B. to 22, 3-year LL.B. to 45 as an interim measure.

    Responding to the Supreme Court’s push to “take a good decision”, the Bar Council of India (BCI) has decided, as an interim measure, to increase the upper age limit for 5-year LLB course from 20 to 22, and for 3-year LLB from 30 to 45.

MH CET LAW 2018 Important Dates

  • MH CET Law application form availability: The MH CET online application form will be available from May 2017 to June 2017.
  • MH CET Law admit card release: The MH CET admit card will be released in the month of June 2017.
  • MH CET Law Exam date: The MH CET Law exam will be conducted in the month of June 2017.
  • MH CET Law Results: The MH CET Law results will be published in June 2017.
  • MH CET Law counselling: The MH CET Law counselling process wil be held in June 2017.

MH CET LAW 2018 Eligibility

  • Eligibility criteria regarding Nationality: The candidate should be an Indian national.
  • Eligibility criteria regarding qualification for the five year law programme: The candidate must have passed 12th standard or any equivalent examination from any recognised board. The candidate should have scored minimum 45% marks in the qualifying examination. (minimum 40% marks for the SC/ST category candidates).
  • Eligibility criteria regarding qualification for the three year programme:  The candidate must have passed 12th standard or any equivalent examination from any recognised board. The candidate should have scored minimum 45% marks in the qualifying examination. (minimum 40% marks for the SC/ST category candidates).
  • Students who are appearing in the qualifying examination are also eligible.
  • Eligibility criteria regarding age limit: There is no age limit.
  • Candidates who possess a 10+2 qualifying certificate through Open University system without having any basic qualifications will not be eligible.

MH CET LAW 2018 Application Process

  • Application date: The application forms will be available in the month of May 2017.
  • Procedure: The candidates can download the application form from the official website. The candidates have to click on the "MH CET Law 2017 application form" link. The candidate has to enter his/her basic details and verify the details. They must upload a photograph and signature and then pay the fees. Once the process is completed they must download and print the application form for future reference.

MH CET LAW 2018 Application Form Details

  • Mode: The application form can be downloaded via online mode from the official website.
  • Application fee: The application fees for the General category candidates is Rs. 650 and the application fees for the OBC candidates of Maharashtra state is Rs. 350.
  • Payment mode: The application fees can be paid via Debit Cards, Credit Cards, Net Banking, Cash Cards / Mobile Wallets / SBI Bank Challan slip.

MH CET LAW 2018 Admit Card

  • Details: The admit card contains details such as exam centre, exam date & timing, candidate's name & roll number.
  • Procedure: The candidates can download the admit card from the official website. The candidates have to click on the "MH CET 2017 admit card" link. The candidate has to enter their login details including the registration number and Date of Birth. Finally the admit card should be downloaded and printed.
  • The admit card will be available online only.

MH CET LAW 2018 Exam Pattern

  • Mode: The MH CET Law exam is conducted through online mode only.
  • Duration: The MH CET Law exam will be conducted for a duration of 2 hours.
  • Maximum marks: The maximum marks is 150.
  • Medium: The MH CET exam is conducted in English and Marathi.
  • Sections: The sections are Legal Aptitude and Legal Reasoning, General Knowledge with Current Affairs, Logical and Analytical Reasoning, English and Basic Mathematics.
  • Marking scheme: For every correct answer one mark is awarded.
  • Negative marking: There is no negative marking. No marks are deducted if the answer is wrong.
  • Subject wise mark allocation: The Legal Aptitude and Logical Reasoning section and the Logical and Analytical Reasoning section have 40 questions each. The English section and the General Knowledge with current affairs section have 30 questions each and the Basic Mathematics section has 10 questions.

MH CET LAW 2018 Syllabus

  • The syllabus is as follows:
  • Legal Aptitude: The candidate will be tested on the basis of his/her interest in law, research aptitude, etc.
  • General Knowledge with Current Affairs: The topics are history, geography, general science, economics, etc.
  • Logical and Analytical Reasoning: Logical Reasoning tests the candidate's ability to identify patterns, logical link and rectify in logical arguments. Analytical Reasoning measures the candidate's ability to understand the structure of relationships and to draw logical conclusions about the structures.
  • English: The topics are Vocabulary (synonyms antonyms and analogies etc.) proficiency ( idioms and phrases, one word substitution, sentence improvement and rearrangement , fill in the blanks etc.) English usages error, etc.
  • Basic Mathematics: The mathematics questions will be set from the 10th and 12th syllabus. The topics are profit and loss, speed and distance, time and work, algebra, averages, permutation and combination and Venn diagrams. 

MH CET LAW 2018 Results

  • Result Date: The MH CET Law results will be declared in the month of June.
  • Procedure: The candidate has to visit the official website and click on the "MH CET Law" link then the candidate has to enter the user ID and password. The results will be displayed on the screen. Now download and print the results.

MH CET LAW 2018 Counselling

  • The candidates can use the Freeze and Float option.
  • Freeze – If a candidate selects the Freeze option to lock a seat then they cannot participate in the further rounds of counselling. They will be admitted to the option they have locked and will not be considered for subsequent rounds of counselling.
  • Float – If a candidate selects the Float option then they can participate in the next round of counselling to secure admission in a college of higher preference and if they do not get any such option they can accept the offer from the previous locked option.
  • Procedure: The candidate has to go to the official website and click on the 'New Registration' option to register for the counselling process. The candidate will be directed to the registration page where they have to enter the registration number then click on the "Save and Proceed" button. The candidate has to fill in all the details and then choose password, enter security pin and choose the preferred colleges. A final merit list is published and the candidates will have to select their colleges. They will be issued an Admission Letter and they will have to visit the facilitation centers for verification of documents. Candidates need to remit the admission fee for securing a seat within the stipulated time.

  • In 2013, The MH CET LAW (Maharashtra Common Entrance Test) was mandatory in Sinhgad Business School, Pune.
  • But there is another way as well. The group of Sinhgad college has some seats with them which you can get by directly approaching the college.
  • So, be careful if someone demands donation or any other kind of extra fees.

  • You can get admission at Saboo Siddik College through online mode and  if you are a  Muslim then you can get admission offline under minority quota.
  • Any of the 1 entrance exam from 2 I.e. JEE MAIN or MH CET LAW should be qualify for the admission. The cut offs are different for different branch.
