NEET-UG 2018 Eligibility Criteria:

  • For Candidates who are willing to appear for NEET 2018 must satisfy certain eligibility criteria, laid the by the board committee of NEET.
  • All the applicants must go through the eligibility criteria so as to get know whether the candidate is eligible/not-eligible for NEET-UG 2018.
  • All the eligibility criteria's are mentioned below.

 The NEET-UG 2018 Eligibility criteria can be divided into following four categories.

  • The nationality of the candidate appearing for NEET 2018. 
  • Age of the candidate appearing for NEET 2018.
  • Educational Qualification of the candidate appearing for NEET 2018.
  • Candidate's Total number of attempts for NEET-UG 

Eligibility Criteria as per the Nationality of the candidate:

All of the below-mentioned categories are eligible for appearing NEET 2018. 

  • Indian Residents (Adhaar card is must identity proof for all Indian candidates)
  • Non-Resident Indians (NRIs)
  • overseas citizens(OCIs)
  • Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs)
  • Foreign Nationals

Eligibility criteria as per the Age of the candidate: 

  • Candidate must have completed the age of 17 years at the time of admission (or) should complete the age on or before 31st December of the year of the candidate's admission to the 1st year MBBS/BDS Course.
  • The upper age limit for NEET is 25 years as on the date of examination.

Relaxation:

Students who belong to SC/ST/OBC category have a relaxation of 5 years for the upper age limit, i.e, 25 years.


Eligibility criteria as per the Educational Qualification of the candidate:

  • Candidates applying for NEET 2018 must have qualified 12th or any exam equivalent to 10+2.
  • The candidate must have studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English as compulsory subjects. (Also including the Practical exams as per the respective subjects) 
  • Candidates appearing for 10+2 or any other exam equivalent to 10+2 are also eligible to appear for NEET 2018.
  • All candidates appearing for NEET 2018 must score a minimum percentage in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and for different categories, it goes as follows: -                                        

Minimum percentage required in the Qualifying exam as per Categories:

  • For General category, 50% is must in PCB overall.
  • For General PH, 45% is must in PCB overall.
  • For SC/ST/OBC, 40% is must in PCB overall. 

Eligibility criteria as per the Number of attempts:

  • The number of attempts which a candidate can avail at NEET-UG examination shall be limited to 3 (three) uniformly to all the candidates. Regardless of the year appearing for NEET-UG.

 

Eligibility for seats under the control of States/Universities/Institutions/AFMC/Central-pool Quota.

  • Any of the Indian Residents, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), overseas citizens(OCIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) & Foreign Nationals are eligible for admission in Medical/Dental Colleges subject to rules and regulations framed by the respective State Governments, Institution and the Government of India.
  • Foreign nationals are expected to confirm their eligibility from the concerned Medical/Dental college/state.

 Eligibility Criteria for 15% All India Quota Seats of NEET 2018:

Following are the eligible categories for NEET 2018 15% All India Quota Seats. 

  • Indian Nationals
  • Non-Resident Indians (NRIs)
  • Overseas Citizen of India (OCIs)
  • Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs)
  • Foreign Nationals are eligible for 15% NEET 2018 All India Quota Seats. 

Expect for Candidates belonging to states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Jammu and Kashmir

  • Candidates from the States of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Jammu & Kashmir are not eligible for 15% All India Quota Seats, as these States have opted out of NEET 2018 All India Scheme since its inception.
  • If a from a candidate from states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Jammu & Kashmir claim's eligibility for 15% All India Quota Seats, then they must submit online Self-Declaration which will be generated and printed automatically along with confirmation page for the record and should be presented during counseling.
  • The online Self Declaration of the candidates will be verified at the time of counseling and if found to be false at any time, the admission of such candidates shall be canceled immediately and criminal proceedings may be initiated against them.
  • Candidates from the States of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Jammu & Kashmir can appear in NEET for admission to Private Medical/Dental Colleges or any Private/Deemed University and Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune only if provided they fulfill all the eligibility conditions.

The inter-se-merit of candidates for tie-breaking

  • In the case of two or more candidates obtaining equal marks in the NEET (UG) - 2018, the inter-se-merit of such candidates shall be determined in order of preference as follows:
  • Candidates obtaining higher marks in Biology (Botany & Zoology) in the Test.
  • Candidates obtaining higher marks in Chemistry in the Test.
  • Candidates with less number of attempted wrong answers in all the subjects in the Test.
  • Candidates older in age to be preferred.

What will be the Eligibility Criteria of NEET 2017 for the Reserved and Unreserved category?

Anyone who studied Physics, Chemistry and Biology in 10+2 and secured 50%. Also at the time of admission at least completing 17 years (lower age limit) will be eligible to apply. Yes, now all foreign nationals, Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) candidates are eligible to apply for 15% all India quota seats. Earlier, 15% all India quota seats were reserved for Indian nationals only for NEET 2017.

I belong to the state of Andhra Pradesh. Am I eligible for MBBS/BDS admission under All India 15 % quota seats through NEET?

No, candidates from the States of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and J & K are not eligible for 15% all India quota seats through NEET as these States had opted out of All India Scheme since its inception. If a candidate appearing from any of these states seeks admission under 15 % all India Quota seats, he/she will have to submit the online Self Declaration form along with the application form. The declaration form in such case will make the candidate ineligible for admission in MBBS/BDS programmes in these states.

The following is the eligibility criteria for candidates from Andhra Pradesh which is as follows:

  • The candidates from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and J&K are not eligible for the 15% all India quota seats.
  • Candidates have to attach a self-declaration generated and printed along with the confirmation page if they claim eligibility for NEET according to the NEET 2017 eligibility criteria.
  • Candidates can appear for NEET 2017 Admission process for various Private Medical/Dental Colleges or any Private/Deemed University and AFMC, Pune if they fulfill the NEET 2017 Eligibility for the same.

There are many institutes/universities that are participating in the NEET 2017, some of them include Armed Forces medical College (AFMC), Jamia Hamdard University, University of Delhi.

  • The Overseas Citizen of India may also appear the exam subject to the rules of government of India to be eligible for NEET 2017 according to the eligibility criteria.
  • The upper age limit shall be considered as per the rules of states/ universities/ institutions for those candidates, seeking admission under the control of participating Institutions/ Universities/ States.

The eligibility criteria of NEET requires the following:

  • The NEET applicants must be an Indian national or OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) to be eligible for NEET according to the eligibility criteria.
  • The applicants must have aged between 17 to 25 years as on 31st December of the admission year (for reserved applicants maximum age limit is 30 years) to be eligible for NEET according to the eligibility criteria.
  • The applicants must have qualified 12th standard or equivalent examination from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology & Mathematics or any other elective subjects with English (appearing applicants can also apply) to be eligible for NEET according to the eligibility criteria.
  • The NEET applicants must have scored minimum 50% in PCB group (45% for general PH and 40% for SC/ST/OBC) to be eligible for NEET according to the eligibility criteria.
