  • Tata Institute of Social Sciences National Eligibility Test (TISSNET) is a national level entrance exam conducted by Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai to grant admission to various Master’s degree programs offered by the Institute.
  • The Tata Institute of Social Sciences does not consider the scores obtained in CAT, MAT, XAT or any other entrance exam. It is only based on the TISSNET 2018.
  • TISSNET 2018 entrance exam is recognized by the UGC and is accredited by the NAAC.
  • It is expected that TISSNET will be conducted in January 2018. The candidates qualifying TISSNET 2018 will then be shortlisted for further admission rounds.
  • They need to wait for the TISSNET 2018 results and should apply for the counselling process of the TISSNET 2018.
  • The candidates can apply by filling the TISSNET 2018 Application Process online. TISSNET 2018 examination is expected to be conducted in the second week of January 2018.

TISSNET 2018 Important Dates

  • TISSNET application process: The TISSNET application process begins on 30th September 2017  and ends on 1st December 2017.
  • TISSNET admit card: The TISSNET admit card will be available on 27th December 2017.
  • TISSNET exam date: The TISSNET exam will be held on 7th January 2018.
  • TISSNET result date: The TISSNET result will be declared on 2nd April 2018.
  • TISSNET Pre-Interview and Personal Interview: The Pre-Interview Test and Personal Interview Test at TISS Mumbai at Mumbai, Tuljapur Campus, and BALM, Chennai will be held from March 10th, 2018 to March 21st, 2018. The date for the Pre-Interview Test and Personal Interview Test for all Hyderabad Campus Programs at Hyderabad and for all Guwahati Campus Programs at Guwahati has not been announced.
  • TISSNET Final Merit List: The TISSNET final merit list will be announced on April 21st, 2018. The candidates should send the scanned copies of their documents to confirm provisional admission from April 24th, 2018 to May 4th, 2018.
  • TISSNET First waiting list: The TISSNET first merit list will be announced on May 6th, 2018. The candidates should send the scanned copies of their documents to confirm provisional admission from May 9th, 2018 to May 19th, 2018.
  • TISSNET second waiting list: The TISSNET second waiting list will be announced on May 22nd, 2018. The candidates should send the scanned copies of their documents to confirm provisional admission from May 23rd, 2018 to May 31st, 2018.
  • TISSNET Admission session: The TISSNET admission session will begin on June 13th, 2018.

TISSNET 2018 Eligibility

  • Eligibility criteria for the B.A. programme: Candidates should have completed bachelor's degree with minimum 3 years duration or any equivalent examination. The degree should be completed from a recognised university which satisfies a minimum requirement for 15 years of formal education. Candidates should have passed all the exams in each semester. Candidates who are appearing for their final year exams are eligible. Candidates who are in their final year should have completed their graduation before July 11th, 2018. Candidates who have the educational qualification in the pattern of 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 or 10+2+2+1 are eligible. Candidates should be 21 years old to be eligible.
  • Eligibility criteria for the M.A. programme: The candidates should have passed their 10+2 examination from a recognised board. The candidates who are appearing for their class 12 examination are also eligible. Candidates who have studied International Baccalaureate Diploma and will be completing their class 12th examination by June 12th, 2018 are eligible. The candidate should not be more than 23 years old as on April 22nd, 2018.

TISSNET 2018 Application Process

  • The documents required are as follows:
  • The General category candidates have to bring their photographs, digital signature and TISS copy of challan (if paid by cash).
  • The SC/ST category candidates whose annual income is more than Rs. 2.5 lakhs have to bring their photographs, digital signature and TISS copy of challan (if paid by cash) and a caste/ tribe certificate.
  • The OBC(NC) category candidates whose annual income is more than Rs. 1 lakh have to bring their Photograph, Digital Signature, TISS copy of challan (if paid by cash) and Other Backward Class (Non-Creamy Layer) certificate issued after 01-04-2016 by the District Magistrate / Deputy Commissioner / Tahsildar.
  • The SC/ST category candidates whose annual income is less than Rs. 2.5 lakhs have to bring their Photograph, Digital Signature, Caste / Tribe Certificate, Income Certificate for the financial year 2015-16 and TISS copy of challan (if paid by cash).
  • The OBC (NC) category candidates whose annual income is less than Rs. 1 lakh have to bring their Photograph, Digital Signature, Income Certificate for the financial year 2015-16, Other Backward Class (Non-Creamy Layer) certificate issued after 01-04-2016 by the District Magistrate / Deputy Commissioner / Tahsildar and TISS copy of challan (if paid by cash).
  • The PWD category candidates have to bring their Photograph, Digital Signature, TISS copy of challan (if paid by cash) and PWD certificate.
  • The KM category candidates have to bring their Photograph, Digital Signature, TISS copy of challan (if paid by cash) and KM certificate.
  • The Armed Force category candidates have to bring their Photograph, Digital Signature, TISS copy of challan (if paid by cash) and Armed Force certificate.
  • Specification of the documents: The passport size photograph should be in JPG/PNG format. The height should be 132 pixels and the width should be 302 pixels. The Income certificate, Caste/tribe certificate, Armed force certificate, PWD certificate and the Kashmiri migrant certificate should be in PDF format and the size should be 500 kb only.
  • Online Application Procedure: The candidate has to visit the official website and start the registration process by logining in using their email ID and password. The candidates will be taken to the application form page where they should fill in their details. The candidates should upload images of their photograph and signature. The applicants should upload all the required documents. After filling in the details and uploading the documents the candidates should click on the "submit" option.
  • Offline Application Procedure: The candidate has to send the request for the form through speed post along with the application fees to the address as below:Assistant Registrar (Academic), Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Deonar Mumbai, 400088.
  • The application forms will be dispatched. The candidates have to fill in the required details and enclose the attested documents. The candidate should send the form through speed post on the same address.
 

TISSNET 2018 Application Form Details

  • Application date: The application form will be available from the last week of September 2016.
  • Registration fees for online applications: The application fees for 1 program for General category candidates is Rs. 1030 and for SC/ST/OBC (NC) candidates it is Rs. 260. The application fees for 2 programs for General category candidates is Rs. 2060 and for SC/ST/OBC (NC) candidates it is Rs. 520. The application fees for 3 programs for General category candidates is Rs. 3090 and for SC/ST/OBC (NC) candidates it is Rs. 780.
  • Registration fees for offline applications: The application fees for 1 program for General category candidates is Rs. 1000+bank charges and for SC/ST/OBC (NC) candidates it is Rs. 250+bank charges. The application fees for 2 programs for General category candidates is Rs. 2000+bank charges and for SC/ST/OBC (NC) candidates it is Rs. 500+bank charges. The application fees for 3 programs for General category candidates is Rs. 3000+bank charges and for SC/ST/OBC (NC) candidates it is Rs. 750+bank charges.
  • Payment by cash: Candidates can pay the fees by cash by clicking on the 'cash' button. Three copies of the challan will be generated. The bank will keep one copy and the remaining two will be returned to the candidate with the journal number, bank seal and signature. The candidate should scan the TISS copy and then upload it on the official website.

TISSNET 2018 Admit Card

  • Admit card availability date: The TISSNET admit card will be available on 27th December 2017.
  • Details: The admit card will contain details such as name, date, time, exam center, etc.
  • Procedure: The admit card can be downloaded from the official website. The candidate has to go to the official website and click on the 'admit card download' link. The candidate has to enter the required details and then download the admit card and take a print out of it.
  • Identity proof: The candidates have to take an ID proof with them along with the admit card. Candidates are required to take their photographs as well.
  • Mandatory document: The admit card is a mandatory document and should be kept safely.

TISSNET 2018 Exam Pattern

  • Exam mode: The TISSNET 2018 exam is conducted through online mode.
  • Number of questions: There will be 100 questions.
  • Type of questions: There will be Multiple choice questions.
  • Number of sections: There are three sections. The sections are General Knowledge, Analytical Ability, Logical Reasoning, and English Proficiency.
  • Duration: The exam is for a duration od 1 hour 40 minutes.
  • Negative marking: There is no negative marking.
  • Subject wise mark allocation: Analytical and Numerical Ability will have 35 questions, English Proficiency will have 30 questions and Awareness of General and Social Issues will have 35 questions.

TISSNET 2018 Syllabus

  • The syllabus is divided into four parts which are as follows:
  • Social sensitivity: The topics are Current affairs, Films, Economics, Fine arts and music, etc.
  • Numerical and Analytical Ability: The topics are Areas, Average, Basic algebra, Basic geometry, etc.
  • Verbal Ability or Language Ability: The topics are Acronyms, Analogy, Comprehension, Fill in the blanks, etc.
  • General Knowledge: The candidates have to go through all the current affairs.

TISSNET 2018 Results

  • Result date: The TISSNET 2018 result will be declared on 2nd April 2018.
  • Procedure: The candidates can check their result on the official website under the 'Admissions' tab. The candidates have to go to the results section and enter their login details. The result will be displayed on the screen.
  • Selection process: The selection process will be based on the merit ranks. The candidates have to obtain the minimum cut-off score to be eligible for the selection process.
  • Components of the selection process: The components of the selection process are National Entrance Test, Pre Interview test/group discussion and Personal Interview.
  • Pre interview/GD: The candidates who have scored the required marks will be called for the pre interview and group discussion round. The pre interview test will be a written test or a group discussion session.
  • Personal interview: The candidate should have passed the first two rounds to be eligible for this round. In this round the candidates will be asked questions based on the programme chosen. This round carries 75 marks.
  • Merit list: A merit list will be prepared on the basis of the scores of the above mentioned procedures. The admission process will be based on the marks scored in all the rounds.

TISSNET 2018 Counselling

  • Documents: Candidates have to bring their original documents and certificates during counselling. Candidates are not allowed to bring their downloaded marks sheets and certificates for the counselling process.
  • Registration: The candidate must register on the official website for the counselling process.
  • Tie breaker: The Personal interview marks are compared. In case the PI marks of two candidates are equal then the Pre-Interview Test marks will be compared. If the PIT marks are also equal then the Entrance score of both the candidates will be compared. If the entrance scores are equal then the candidate who is older will be given preference over the younger candidate.
  • Admission: Once the counselling process has been completed the candidate will be admitted to the college.

Eligibility Criteria and Admission Process:
  • Eligibility criteria to join Tata Institute of Social Sciences is one need to be a graduate from any course from the recognized university of UGC.
  • The only graduation is required to get admission in masters of Globalization and Labour.
  • TISSNET is the online examination for getting admission in TISS. It is a hundred mark exam with three sections comprising of English, Quant, and GK.
  • Cut off for GL course is 69 out of 100 for General students.
