About TNEA 2018:

Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) 2018 is conducted by Anna University. TNEA is conducted every year by the University for Admission to undergraduate level courses available at various engineering colleges of the State. The candidates for admission to engineering colleges will be selected on the basis of their performance in class 12 board or equivalent exam. The candidates will be required to complete their admission with the process of counselling and submission of their documents.

TNEA is the key through which more than 1.5 lakh Engineering students get enrolled into the engineering colleges of Tamil Nadu. Their admission happens through a single window counselling. The courses offered through TNEA are B.Tech and B.E. These courses occur for 4 academic years, which constitutes of 8 semesters. There is also a Sandwich course, B.E., which occurs for 5 academic years. It constitutes of 10 semesters.

The common application form of TNEA seeks admission to the University Departments and the Constituent Colleges of Anna University, Government and Government Aided Engineering Colleges and for the seats surrendered by Self–Financing Engineering Colleges in Tamil Nadu under Unified Single Window Admission System for Indian Nationals.

TNEA 2018 Important Dates

Registration for TNEA starts from the 3rd May 2018 and ends by 29th May 2018 

Results are announced by the 14th June 2018 

Counseling for sports person and differently abled candidates starts from last week of June. Academic General Candidates starts from the 31st July 2018 

TNEA 2018 Eligibility

Education Qualification:

  • Candidates should have passed 12th board or equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.
  • Those who have cleared their 12th grades from outside the state must attach a Nativity Certificate only in electronic form/digitally signed e-Certificate to cover-up all the eligibility criteria.
  • Candidates must have Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects in their 12th or equivalent exam.
  • The minimum marks that a candidate must have scored to write TNEA exam:
  1. For General Category: 50%
  2. For OBC Category: 45%
  3. For MBC, DNC, SC/SCA/ST Category: 40%
  • For B.E./B.Tech. applicants, the vocational subjects are General Machinist, Electrical Machines and Appliances, Electronic Equipment, Draughtsman Civil, Auto Mechanic and Textile Technology as the eligibility condition.
  • Candidates need to provide the original and a photocopy of the documents.

TNEA 2018 Application Process

Application form for TNEA can be filled online at the official website from 3rd May 2018. Candidates who have satisfied eligibility criteria have to fill the form and send it via post along with the necessary documents.

Steps to apply for TNEA exam:

  • On the official website enter your name, date of birth, gender, and email id and click on proceed.
  • Fill in the personal and education details and click submit.
  • Make a note of Application Number and pay the fees through an online portal.

Fee for TNEA exam:

  • For General Category: Rs. 500/-
  • For SC/ ST/ SCA category: Rs. 250/-

TNEA 2018 Application Form Details

Registration for TNEA can be done online but the candidate needs to send the application form via post to Secretary, TNEA, Anna University.

Candidates can fill the application from 3rd May 2018 . remember that registration close by 29th May 2018 .

  • Backward Class - 26.5%
  • Backward Class Muslim - 3.5%
  • Most Backward Class - 20%
  • Scheduled Caste - 15%
  • Scheduled Caste (Arunthathiyars) - 3%
  • Scheduled Tribes - 1%

TNEA 2018 Admit Card

Admit Card can be downloaded from the official website of TNEA exam.

Steps to download Admit Card for TNEA:

  • To download the Admit Card candidates need to log in to the official website for TNEA.
  • The candidate has to enter their reference number and date of birth to acquire their admit card for the TNEA exam.
  • The candidate has to download and print the Admit Card.

TNEA 2018 Exam Pattern

TNEA exam is an objective type (MCQs), It consists of 150 questions which are to be covered in 150 minutes (2.5 hours).

The TNEA exam will be held in English language only, No negative marks are given for wrong answers.

TNEA 2018 Syllabus

The following are the subjects for TNEA exam:

  • Physics
  • Chemistry
  • Mathematics

TNEA 2018 Results

TNEA exam results will be declared by the third week of June. Based on the results as well as the merit list of the university the candidates will be offered admission to the course.

To check TNEA results, Candidates must login to the official website of TNEA and click on "Check Result" option. Then enter your login information with the help of Admit Card.

TNEA 2018 Counselling

Seat allocation for counselling will be based on merit rank in TNEA exam. Counselling for Eminent Sports Person, Differently Abled Person, and Academic General will take place in different sessions.

Candidates willing to attend councelling have to pay Rs. 5000/- For General Category and Rs.1000/- for SC/ST/SCA candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu.

Candidates can pay either by cash or through DD.

Counselling for TNEA will be conducted in three genres:

  • Special Counselling ( Sports, Differently abled, Ex-Serviceman children)
  • Vocational Counselling
  • General Counselling

  • The Admission procedure to join in my college is by two ways, either through TNEA counselling or through management quota seat.
  • The eligibility criteria for getting admitted in our college is you should have completed your HSC/PUC from any of the recognised boards acceptable in India with an aggregate of minimum 65 ℅-70 ℅ in their board exam.
  • There is no specific entrance exams conducted by our college for their admission procedures. The cutoffs must be of the range 160-180 depending upon the deep they opt for.
  • The staffs in our college really give good coaching through continuous tests and assessments.
  • The only problem persisting in our college is their placement issues. Other than that there is no problem regarding our college.

A candidate looking to get a Lateral Entry through TNEA must pass with prescribed minimum eligibility marks in any recognised Bachelor’s Degree in Science of minimum 3 years duration and should've studied core Mathematics as one of the subjects at degree level

Note: Candidates with Degrees other than Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) are not eligible.

  • Select course based on your interest and get advice from the seniors on the course. Select college which gives space for extra-curricular activities.
  • Have choices of college and course before attending the counselling
  • Do not believe middlemen for getting seats in Colleges.
  • Don’t pay any bribe or Additional fee to get college seat. Don’t waste money for that.
