About UGC NET Exam:

  • National Eligibility Test (N.E.T) is conducted by CBSE for the eligibility of Assistant Professor in Indian Universities & Colleges and Junior Research Fellowship.
  • CBSE conducts NET in 100 subjects. This Exam is conducted twice a year.
  • Clearing UGC NET Exam can give the candidates to be a part of teaching profession and research on several subjects of Humanities (including Indian and some foreign languages), Social Sciences, Computer Science and Applications, Electronic Science, Forensic Science and Environmental Sciences. 
  • Fellowship is offered to the Candidates qualifying JRF, this will be provided by UGC or other institutions under various schemes. A monthly stipend of Rs. 25,000/- is given during the period of Research. The validity period of the offer is 2 years with respect to the date of issue of JRF Letter. 
  • UGC NET exams are generally conducted in the month of January and July. The candidates must pay Rs.600 (for General Category), Rs. 300 (for OBC Category)/ Rs. 150 (for SC/ST/PWD Category) as the application form fee. UGC NET exams are conducted twice a year so that the candidates can make use of the opportunities in the right way.

UGC NET Exams are held in several cities. There is no particular Syllabus for UGC NET 2018. The candidates can choose the subjects from their field of excellence and a General Aptitude Test will be held. UGC NET 2018 consists of 3 papers. Paper-I is common for all candidates; Paper II and Paper III consists questions from the selected subjects.   

CBSE will conduct the next UGC-NET for Junior Research Fellowship & Eligibility for Assistant Professor on 5th November, 2018 . The candidates who desire to appear in the test may see the detailed notification available on the website, from 24th July, 2018. The candidates are required to apply online from 1st August, 2018. The last date for applying online is 30th August, 2018 and fee can be paid up to 31st August, 2018.   

 Details Regarding the Aadhar Card

  • Accordingly, CBSE has decided to use Aadhaar for the applicants of UGCNET(November) 2018 , and hereby notifies the following:  
  • Applicants who are in possession of Aadhaar, shall enter Aadhaar number, name, date of birth & gender in online application for UGC-NET(November) 2018 for the purpose of his/her identity and authentication thereof.  
  • Government making Aadhar Card compulsory and it is important for the candidates to get their Aadhar Cards. The exam authority has also made it compulsory for the students to carry Aadhar Card for an Identity Proof.
  • Passport number, Ration number, Bank account number or any other Government identity number should be provided by applicants from J&K, Assam & Meghalaya at the time of exam at the exam center.

Rectification of OMR Sheet

Board has released notice regarding release of Photocopy of OMR Sheet and rectification in that, there are some points that are important to to note down.

  • Rectification fee is Rs500.
  • The Application should be sent in the name to The Director, UGC NET.
  • Candidates must write the Names with Address & Roll number correctly. In case of payment through Demand Draft the Name & Roll Number should be mentioned on the backside.
  • The Photocopy will not be allowed for commercial purposes in any colleges or institutes.

UGC NET 2018 Important Dates

  • Online Application Form submission starts from 17th October 2017.
  • Late date to apply for UGC NET exam is on 16th November 2017.
  • The last date for submission of fee through online generated Bank Challan is 17th November.
  • UGC NET Admit Card will be available by 21st December 2017.
  • UGC NET Examination will be held on 22nd January 2018.
  • UGC NET Results will be announced on 5th June 2018.

UGC NET 2018 Eligibility

  • Qualification:

At least 55% marks should be secured by candidates belonging to the General category in their Master Degree or equivalent Examination from a university recognised by UGC.

The candidates belonging to the OBC/SC/ST/PWD categories should have completed their Master’s degree or equivalent program with at least 50% of marks to be eligible for UGC NET.

  • Age Limit:

 Junior Research Fellowship: Candidates must not be above 28 years of age as on January 1st 2018.

Assistant Professor: Candidates should be above 28 years of age as on January 2018.

 5 years age relaxation will be given to the candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD/OBC category and Women.

The age relaxation is also provisioned for the candidates with experience of research.

  • The categorical relaxation in age will be allowed on the ground of producing relevant certificates.
  • 10th standard marks sheet or passing certificate and DOB certificate needs to be submitted for proof of age.

UGC NET 2018 Application Process

  • The Applicants must read the conditions of eligibility carefully and must satisfy themselves regarding their eligibility for the Test before filling the online application and submitting the printout of Online Application Form.
  • Before applying Online, the Applicants should possess the Scanned passport size photograph in JPG format of minimum 4kb and less than 40 kb. The dimension of the photograph should be 3.5 cm (width) X 4.5 cm (height).
  • After filling all the details for applying online for NET the Applicants have to select the option of payment of examination fee either by credit/debit card or through e-challan generated during the online filling of the application form indicating your details therein and follow the process as mentioned.
  • Applicants seeking age relaxation must enclose the certificate of educational qualification/research experience entitling the Applicants for age relaxation.
  • The Application along with Bank Challan and other required documents must reach the Registrar/Principal of the Coordinating Institution.
  • The Applicants should retain the printout of online Admission card with them and will bring it on the day of examination after affixing the identical passport size photograph.
  • The Applicants must affix their recent identical passport size photographs, at the places indicated, on the printout of Online Application Form and Attendance Slip must sign across the photograph after it is affixed so that a part of the signature spreads over the Application Form and Attendance Slip beyond the photograph. Besides, it should be duly attested by the Head of the University Department/ Principal of the College/Class-I Gazetted Officer.

UGC NET 2018 Application Form Details

  • UGC NET Examination fee for General Category is Rs. 600, for OBC is Rs. 300, for SC/ST/PWD candidates the fee is Rs.150.
  • The exam fee can be paid by online method or by e-challan generated at the time of filling the application form.
  • Is it advised that to ensure that the fee has been successfully submitted, the candidate is required to check the status of fee payment at CBSE UGC website.
  • If the UGC NET exam fee is paid through e-challan by depositing cash in the above-mentioned bank, the candidate should contact the concerned bank immediately to update his/her fee status on the website.
  • If the UGC NET fee is paid through credit/debit card and status appears as not ‘OK’, it means the transaction has been canceled and the amount will be refunded.

UGC NET 2018 Admit Card

  • After successful registration for UGC NET exam, the Admit Card will become available to download online from the official website.
  • Candidates must make sure that all the details entered while registration is correct so that there are no mistakes in the admit card for UGC NET exam.
  • Candidates should visit UGC NET official website and enter the username and password to download UGC NET Exam, Admit Card.
  • Download the admit card and take a printout of it.

The admit card is equivalent to a hall ticket and candidates without a UGC NET admit card are not eligible to write the UGC NET 2018 exam.

Candidates must not tamper with the admit card. If any admit card is found to be tampered with, the candidate might be restricted from entering the UGC NET exam hall. Plagiarising the UGC NET admit card is a punishable offence.

The details on the admit card should be checked by the candidates to ensure that correct details are mentioned on the admit card.

UGC NET 2018 Exam Pattern

The UGC NET exam consists of three papers, split into three different sessions:

  • All the candidates should attend paper 1 which consists of 60 questions. Only 50 questions need to be answered. Paper 1 duration is set to 75 minutes.
  • Paper 2 has 50 questions. All the questions are mandatory. The time duration for paper 2 is set to 75 minutes.
  • Paper 3 has 75 questions all of which are compulsory. the time duration for paper 3 is set to 150 minutes.
  • Marks Allotted: Paper 1: 100 marks, Paper 2: 100 marks, Paper 3: 150 marks.
  • Provision for persons with disabilities: 25 minutes of compensatory time shall be provided for Paper-1 and Paper-2 separately. 50 minutes of compensatory time shall be provided for Paper-3. CBSE will also provide the test booklet in Braille, for the visually challenged candidates. Candidates who are not in a position to attempt the exam on their own can request the services of a scribe by making a prior request.

UGC NET 2018 Results

Steps to check your UGC NET exam results:

  • Obtain minimum marks for each of the three papers. the minimum marks need to be obtained by candidates depends on the category they belong to(General, OBC etc).
  • Amongst candidates who will clear Step I, a merit list will then be prepared subject-wise and category-wise using the aggregate marks of all the three papers secured by such candidates.
  • The top 15 percent candidates according to the merit list are qualified to apply for the Assistant Professor position.
  • separate merit list for the award of Junior Research Fellow will be prepared from amongst the UGC NET qualified candidates.

Results are declared after assessing scores of all the papers of UGC NET exam.

UGC NET 2018 Counselling

  • The University Grants Commission releases the Counselling Schedule for National Eligibility Test. The CBSE will release the results of UGC NET exam.
  • Candidates who aspire to participate in UGC NET counselling must verify first.  Counselling of UGC-NET will be conducted on 11th June 2018 
  • The Important dates and the documents required for UGC NET counselling will be published on the website after the results are declared.
  • Candidates are required to bring thier Original Documnets and Certificate for Counselling.

CBSE will not be issuing the relevant certificates to individuals who appeared in UGC NET 2017.

Official Updates regarding this have been released by CBSE and UGC NET on their Official Websites.

The candidate attempting for NEET has to be aware of the following updates to NEET 2017:

  • The age limit for medical aspirants seeking admission under the 15% all India quota has been set for 25 years while the candidates belonging to reserved categories may appear in the test up to 30 years of age. Candidates can attempt for the NEET exam three times only.
  • As per the notifications and news CBSE might make the Aadhaar card compulsory to apply for NEET 2017. Earlier CBSE had made the Aadhaar card mandatory to register for JEE main 2017 examination. CBSE has released another notification making it clear that Aadhar will be one common identity proof for all examinations.
  • Candidates from various states and diverse backgrounds appear in the NEET examination.
