Application Process for UPSC CDS:

The application process for UPSC CDS starts almost three months before the date of examination. 

Candidates are required to apply for UPSC CDS, online only using the link www.upsconline.nic.in

After clicking on the given circle the candidate will enter into the PART- I of Registration which looks similar to this:

After completing this section, the candidates will see something this window.There, they need to enter their Registration Id and Date of Birth:

After entering the details, click on the Submit button. From here the candidates will enter the PART-II details section where they have to fill all the requisite details along with the Examination Centre. The examination centre list is given in the form of drop down. The candidates can choose their centre as per the cities in the list. It's basically given on the first come first serve basis. Usually, the aspirants are given the centre of their preference.  

The candidates submitting multiple applications, then he/she must ensure that application with the higher RID (Registration ID) is complete in all respects like applicants’ details, examination centre, photograph, signature, fee, etc.

The candidates who are submitting multiple applications should note that only the applications with higher RID (Registration ID) shall be entertained by the Commission and fee paid against one RID shall not be adjusted against any other RID.

INSTRUCTIONS:

  • All the candidates have to submit their applications online directly to the Commission whether they are serving in the Government Sector (including candidates serving in the Defense Forces and PSUs) or in the Private Sector
  • Persons already in Government Service, whether in permanent or temporary capacity or as work charged employees other than casual or daily rated employees or those serving under the Public Enterprises are required to inform their Head of Office/Department in writing about their application that they have applied for the Examination
  • Candidates serving in the Armed Forces are required to inform their Commanding Officer in writing that they have applied for this examination. They will also have to submit NOC at the time of SSB interview

NOTE : APPLICANTS NOT SUBMITTING THE PRESCRIBED FEES (UNLESS EXEMPTED FROM FEE ) OR SUBMITTING INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL BE SUMMARILY REJECTED.

The candidates applying for the examination should fulfil the eligibility criteria for the examination.

Their admission at all the stages of examination for which they are admitted by the Commission viz. written examination and interview test will be purely provisional and is subject to satisfying the mentioned eligibility conditions. If on verification at any time before or after the written examination or Interview Test, it is found that they do not fulfil any of the eligibility conditions, the Commission holds all the right to cancel their candidature for the examination.

Candidates are advised to keep the following documents handy in original along with their self-attested copies soon after the declaration of the result of the written part of the examination for submission to the Army HQ/Naval HQ/Air HQ as the case may be :

  • Matric/Higher Secondary School Certificate or its equivalent showing date of birth of the candidate
  • Degree/Provisional Degree Certificate/Marks sheet showing clearly having passed degree examination and eligible for award of degree.

In the first instance, all qualified candidates eligible for SSB interview will carry their original Matric/Higher Secondary School Certificate as also their Degree/Provisional Degree Certificate/Marks sheet with them while going to the Services Selection Centres for SSB interview. Candidates who have not yet qualified the final year Degree examination must carry with them a certificate in original from the Principal of the College/Institution stating that the candidate has appeared/is appearing at the final year Degree examination. Candidates who do not carry the above certificates with them while going to the Services Selection Centres shall not be allowed to appear for the SSB interview. They will not be exempted from appearing in the interview and will be sent back at their own expense.

If any of their claims is found to be incorrect/false/fraud/fabricated they may render themselves liable to disciplinary action by the Commission in terms of the following provisions:

A candidate who has been declared guilty by the Commission for :

  • obtaining support for his/her candidature by any means, or
  • impersonating, or
  • procuring impersonation by any person, or
  • submitting fabricated documents or documents which have been tampered with, or
  • making wrong statements or hiding the material information
  • resorting to any other irregular or improper means in connection with his/her candidature for the examination, or
  • using unfair means during the examination, or 
  • writing irrelevant matter, including obscene languages or pornographic matter, in the script(s), or
  • misconducting in any other manner in the examination hall, or
  • harassing or doing bodily harm to the staff employed by the Commission for the conduct of their examination, or
  • having any electronic device which can be used as a communication device including mobile phones and pager
  • violating any of the instructions issued to candidates along with their Admission Certificates permitting them to take the examination, or

Candidates are not required to submit along with their applications any certificate in support of their claims regarding age, educational qualifications, SC/ST/OBC and fee remission etc.

The eligible candidates shall be issued an e-Admit Card three weeks before the date of the examination.

The E-Admission Certificate will be made available in the UPSC website for download for the candidates. No admission certificate will be sent by post.
