About UPSC CSAT Exam:

  • The Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) is conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) every year to select candidates for Civil Services Main Exam.
  • Those who pass the Mains Exam and Interview can join prestigious Indian government services such as IAS, IPS, etc.

UPSC CSAT 2018 Important Dates

  • Availability of Application Form: The UPSC CSAT Application Form will be available on the 22nd February 2018.
  • Last Date Applying: The UPSC CSAT Application Form availability will end on the 17th March 2018.
  • Availability of Admit Card: The UPSC CSAT Admit Card for the applied Candidates will be available on the 1st July 2018.
  • Offline Examination Date: The Offline CSAT exam will be held on the 3rd and 9th of December 2018.
  • The Announcement of Results: The UPSC CSAT Results will be Announced on 26th August 2018.
  • Cutoff List Availability: As soon as the Results for UPSC CSAT 2018 have been announced.

UPSC CSAT 2018 Eligibility

  • Age Limit: Candidate applying should not age less than 21 years and no more than 32.
  • Education Qualification: 
    • A candidate must be a graduate from a recognised university or a deemed university.
    • A candidate who has appeared for the final year of bachelor's degree and awaiting the result, along with candidates who intend to appear at such qualifying examinations can also apply, provided that they submit their proof of qualification along with the application for the Mains exam.
    • A candidate who possesses professional and technical qualification recognised by Government equivalent to the professional and technical degree can also apply.
    • A candidate who has passed the final professional M.B.B.S. or any other Medical Examination but has not completed internship by the time of submission of the application for the Civil Services (Main) Examination can also apply.
  • Nationality: Candidate should be a Citizen of India for The Indian Administrative Service and The Indian Police Service.
  • No of Attempts Allowed: Candidates can apply for a maximum of 6times, however, the SC/ST will not have a restriction for attempting over again,  the candidates belonging to OBC category can apply for a total of 9 times.

UPSC CSAT 2018 Application Process

  • Official Website of CSAT: (www.upsconline.nic.in).
  • Application Form to CSAT: Application to UPSC CSAT  can be made either online or offline depending on the candidates wish, Application Forms (both, online and offline) are available at the official website for the CSAT 2018 exam.
  • Payment of Application Fees to CSAT: The payment can be made either online or offline. After submission of personal details, print the SBI bank challan on an A4-size paper. The printed payslip needs to be used for payment of application fee to CSAT. For an offline mode of application, the application form is to be sent to the mentioned address before the last date.

UPSC CSAT 2018 Application Form Details

The Application for the UPSC CSAT 2018 Examination can be found at the official website for the CSAT 2018 examination. The form can be applied/filled online only by visiting the website Candidates will have to fill in the correct required details and make the payment to complete the Application Process.

  • Application Form Type: Online Submission only
  • Payment Mode: Online using either Credit/Debit Card or Net Banking and Offline by using a printed Challan payable at State Bank of India in Cash.
  • Required Documents: Documents supporting Education Qualification and Nationality.
  • Application Fee: Candidates who belong to the unreserved category are required to pay Rs. 100/- as application fee. SC/ ST/ PH/ Women candidates are not required to pay any fee.

UPSC CSAT 2018 Admit Card

  • Availing the Admit Card: Candidates can log onto the official website (www.upsconline.nic.in) to download their respective Admit Card. Candidates who have applied for the prestigious Civil Services or Indian Administrative Services IAS 2018 can download officially issued IAS Admit Card by entering Registration ID, or Name, or Roll Number, along with other details such as date of birth.
  • Details on CSAT 2017 Admit Card: The UPSC Admit Card contains details of the candidate such as Roll Number, Name, Examination Timing and Centre Assigned.
  • Admit Card to CSAT 2018: To appear in the exam, the candidate must carry the UPSC IAS Civil Services Admit Card 2018 on the day of prelims as well as the main exam. Go through all details printed in admit card. Check that they are correct and verifiable against official documents. Note that it is probable that name has been cut short for technical reasons, so if you see a short form of your name, do not panic. If you are not able to download admit card of UPSC Civil Services Examination 2018, get in touch with UPSC.
  • Documents to be Carried to the CSAT 2018 Examination: Valid ID proof is advisable, for verification during the CSAT 2018 examination day.

UPSC CSAT 2018 Exam Pattern

  • Mode of CSAT 2018 Exam: CSAT 2018 is a paper-pen based examination consisting of multiple-choice questions.
  • Duration of Exam: 02 hours provided
  • Language Medium: The question papers are set in both in Hindi and English. However, questions relating to English language comprehension skills are tested through passages without proving Hindi translation in the question paper.
  • Marking Scheme for CSAT 2018 Exam: There is negative marking for incorrect answers for all questions except some of the questions where the negative marking will be inbuilt in the form of different marks being awarded to the most appropriate and not-so-appropriate answer for such questions. If you give a wrong answer, one-third of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty.
  • Marks Alotted: Two papers for 200 marks each.
  • Exam Paper Sections: Basic numeracy numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude etc. (Class X level), Data interpretation, English language comprehension skills (Class X level). Questions relating to English Language Comprehension skills of Class X level will be tested through passages from English language only without providing Hindi translation thereof in the question paper.

    • History of India and Indian National Movement.
    • Indian and World Geography.
    • Indian Polity and Governance.

  • Paper-II:
    • Comprehension.
    • Interpersonal skills including communication skills.
    • Logical reasoning and analytical ability.

UPSC CSAT 2018 Results

Candidates will have to log in to the official website for the UPSC CSAT 2018 examination to check for the Availability of the Results on the website.

  • Availability of CSAT 2018 Prelims Result: Prelims is the first stage towards selection in the services. The results of the Prelims examination will be announced on 26th August 2018.
  • Availability of CSAT 2018 Mains Result: On the basis of the Result of the Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2018 held by the Union Public Service Commission, the candidates with the following Roll Numbers have qualified for the Personality Test for selection to the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Police Service and other Central Services (Group A and Group B). The results will be available in the month of January/February 2018.
  • Availability of CSAT 2018 Final Result: The result of mains and Personality Test/Interview, which will be announced in the month of January/February 2018 will determine the final list of candidates selected for Indian Administrative Services, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Police Service, and Other Central Services.

UPSC CSAT 2018 Counselling

  • Counselling Date: The Counselling Process for the eligible candidates will take place as soon as the results are announced. The eligible candidates will be notified to be prepared for the counselling process with the necessary documents.
  • Eligibility: Candidates who have cleared the UPSC CSAT 2018 examination with good scores are eligible. Candidates failing to clear the examination with the recommended scores will have to re-apply for the CSAT 2018 examination.

The Deaf candidates will be given exemptions regarding Age limit and the No. of attempts for UPSC CSAT.

The maximum Age Limit of Deaf Candidates can be up to 42 years for UPSC CSAT.

The number of attempts for UPSC CSAT is based on the category of the candidate:

Once you've cleared your UPSC CSAT Mains, you must undergo a Physical Fitness Test taken by Specially Trained Doctors/

Once the candidate meets all the physical fitness requirements and successfully completes the 6 months training in their allocated cadre and the 1-month academic training, he/she is confirmed as an IPS officer and will take the placement in the allocated cadre.
