Eligibility Criteria for VTU ULRAT 2017 Exam:

Candidates must fulfill basic Eligibility Criteria for VTU ULRAT 2017 Exam to be able to apply for the desired program.

The eligibility criteria is as follows:

Candidates who are studying in the final semester of M.Tech., M.Arch., MCA, MBA and M.Sc. (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Geology) may apply for the research program.

Ph.D eligibility for Engineering disciplines:

  • Masters degree in Engineering or Technology from a recognized university with a CGPA of  6.75 out of 10. (Minimum 60 percent aggregate at the bachelor's level or masters level).

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology from a recognized university with a CGPA of 7.75 out of 10 (minimum 70 percent aggregate at bachelor's level) and should have published research papers in refereed journals or obtained patents.

  • Applicants with an M.Sc Engineering degree from a recognized university who have successfully completed coursework  in first two semesters of study with CGPA of 7.75 out of 10 (70 percent minimum aggregate) are eligible to apply. The candidate should have also published research papers in refereed journals or should have obtained patent files.

  • Candidates with an M.Tech degree from recognized university who have successfully completed prescribed course work at first three semesters of study with a CGPA of 7.75 out of 10 (70 percent aggregate) with  good research aptitude are eligible to apply.

Ph.D eligibility for Science disciplines:

  • Candidates with an M.Phil or M.Sc degree in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics or any other such allied discipline are eligible to apply.

  • Minimum CGPA of 6.75 out of 10 or aggregate of 60 percent marks at the bachelor degree or masters degree level.

Ph.D eligibility for Computer Science:

  • Master of Computer Application (MCA) from a recognized university.

  • Minimum  CGPA of 6.75 marks out of 10 (60 percent aggregate).

Ph.D eligibility for Architectural disciplines:

  • Master degree in architecture or allied specializations from recognized university with a CGPA of  6.75 marks (minimum 60 percent) at either bachelors or masters level.

  • Candidates with a bachelor's degree in Architecture or an equivalent qualification from a recognized university with a CGPA of 7.75 marks out of 10 (minimum 70 percent) with published research papers or filed/ obtained patents are eligible to apply.

  • Applicants with a bachelor's degree in Architecture with 10 years or more of relevant teaching, research and professional practice are eligible to apply.

  • Candidates who have completed M.Arch at the university successfully completing coursework in the first three semesters of  study with a CGPA of 7.75 marks out of 10(70 percent) with good research aptitude are eligible to apply.

Ph.D eligibility for Business Management:

  • MBA degree from a recognized university

  • CGPA of 6.75 out of 10 (60 percent aggregate).

Please note that students studying in their final year are also eligible to apply.
