Eligibility Criteria for WBJEE 2018

Eligibility Criteria with Respect to Age Limit:

  • Candidates looking for admission in Engineering / Technology (other than Marine Engineering), Pharmacy and Architecture Courses must be at least 17 years of age as on 31st December 2018 to be eligible.
  • Candidates looking for Admission in Marine Engineering courses must be at least 17 years of age as on 31st December 2018 and must not be above 25 (twenty-five) years of age as on 31st July 2018 to be eligible.

Eligibility Criteria for Engineering & Technology Program:

  • Candidates must have completed their Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination in General Stream in the regular class mode of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or equivalent examination from a recognised Institute/ Board.
  • The candidates must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects in their 12th standard to be eligible for WBJEE 2018.
  • The candidate must have secured a minimum of 60% marks in the aggregate of the above subjects (45% for SC/ ST/ PwD candidates).
  • The candidate must have secured a minimum of 60% marks in Mathematics (45% for SC/ ST/ PwD candidates), and should also have passed in English with a minimum of 30% (for all categories of candidates) in the, said qualifying examination.

Calcutta University:

  • The candidates must have completed their Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or equivalent examination from a recognised Council/ Board in regular class mode.
  • The candidate must have studied and passed in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects to satisfy the eligibility criteria.
  • The candidate must have secured a minimum of 60% marks in the aggregate of the above subjects (55% for SC/ST/ PwD/OBC-A/OBC-B candidates), as well as pass in English with a minimum of 30% marks (for all categories of candidates) in the, said qualifying examination.

Eligibility for Department of Jute & Fibre Technology, Calcutta University:

  • Candidates must have completed their Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or equivalent examination from a recognised Council/ Board in the regular class mode to be eligible. 
  • The candidates must have passed in Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology as compulsory subjects to satisfy eligibility criteria.
  • Minimum of 45% marks in the above subjects taken together (40% for SC/ST/PwD/OBC-A/OBC-B candidates) as well as pass in English, with a minimum of 30% marks (for all categories of candidates) in the said qualifying examination would be required to be eligible.

Other Institutes Offering Engineering and Technology Courses:

  • Candidates must have completed their Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or equivalent examination from a recognised Council/ Board in the regular class mode to satisfy eligibility. 
  • The candidates must have passed in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. They must have these subjects as compulsory subjects.
  • The candidates must have secured a minimum of 45% marks in the aggregate of the above subjects (40% for SC/ST/ PwD/OBC-A/OBC-B candidates).
  • The candidate must have passed in English with a minimum of 30% marks (for all categories of candidates) in the, said qualifying examination.

Eligibility Criteria for Marine Engineering:

As per the eligibility norms and standards of the Director General of Shipping, Gov. of India:

  • Candidates must have passed their Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or equivalent examination from a recognised Council/Board.
  • The candidates must have secured a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in subjects such as Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, with individual pass marks in the said subjects in regular class mode, to be eligible.
  • The candidate must score a minimum of 50% marks in English as a subject in either in 10th or in 10+2 standard.

Architecture Course:

  • The candidate must have passed in compulsory subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics to be eligible. 
  • The candidate must have scored a minimum of 60% marks in the aggregate of the above subjects (45% for SC/ ST/ PwD candidates).
  • The candidate must have secured a minimum of 60% marks in Mathematics (45% for SC/ ST/ PwD candidates), as well as pass in English with a minimum of 30% (for all categories of candidates) in the, said qualifying examination. 
  • Candidate must qualify either in the NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) conducted by the Council of Architecture, New Delhi or in Paper 2 of JEE Mains conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education are eligible.

Important Norms and Eligibility Standards of the Council of Architecture (COA):

  • No candidate with less than 50% marks in aggregate shall be eligible to the architecture course unless he/she has passed an examination at the end of new (10+2) scheme of Senior School Certificate Examination or equivalent with Mathematics as a subject of Examination at the 10+2 level.
  • Candidate must also qualify either in the NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) conducted by the Council of Architecture, New Delhi or in Paper 2 of JEE Mains conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education to satisfy the standard eligibility criteria.

Eligibility Criteria for Pharmacy Course:

  • The Candidates must have completed their Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination in General Stream in the regular class mode of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or equivalent examination from a recognised Council/ Board.
  • The candidate must have finished their 12th with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects to be eligible.
  • Minimum eligibility is of 60% marks in above subjects taken together (45% for SC/ ST/ PwD candidates) having 60% marks in Mathematics (45% for SC/ ST/ PwD candidates) as well as pass in English with a minimum of 30% (for all categories of candidates) in the said qualifying examination to satisfy the eligibility criteria.

Other Institutes: 

  • Candidates must have passed their Higher Secondary Examination state board or any qualified board of examination which is recognised by the government of India.
  • The Candidates should have studied subjects such as physics, chemistry, and biology as their compulsory subjects.
  • The candidate must have secured a minimum of 45% marks in the above subjects taken together (40% for SC/ST/ PwD/OBC candidates), as well as pass in English with a minimum of 30% marks (for all categories of candidates) in the, said qualifying examination as per the eligibility criteria.
