About Birla Institute of Technology and Science(BITS)   

  • This prestigious Institute was established in 1964. During this period, the institute's transformation from a regional engineering college to a national university was backed by Ghanshyam Das Birla.
  • Later days, BITS established centers at Hyderabad, Pilani, Goa, and Dubai.
  • Birla Institute of Technology and Science(BITS) is an all India Institution.
  • BITS has been declared as a Deemed University under Section 3 of UGC ACT
  • It is widely known as the best private engineering institute and stands among the top most Engineering and B-Schools of India.
  • The university has 15 academic departments and focuses primarily on undergraduate education in engineering and the sciences and on its management program.
  • Admissions to all the Integrated First Degree programs of BITS, at Pilani campus, Goa campus, and Hyderabad Campus will be made on the basis of a Computer based Online Test conducted by BITS, Pilani.
  • This test is referred as "BITS Admission Test" i.e BITSAT 2018.
  • Every year, a lakhs of students compete for a total of 2000 seats. Meaning that competition level to get admitted in BITS is really high.
  • Admission is purely merit-based only, as assessed by the BITSAT 2018 examination.

About BITSAT 2018:

  • BITSAT 2018 is Computer Based Online Test.
  • BITSAT Exam is held every year for the purpose of students to avail admission to Integrated First Degree programs of BITS institutions.
  • BITSAT 2018 is conducted to get admissions for Bachelor’s level and Masters’ level engineering as well as pharmacy courses by the prestigious Birla Institute of Science and Technology.
  • Admissions to BITS will be made purely on merit.
  • The application form for BITSAT 2018 will be available from 8th January 2018 till 2nd March 2019.
  • Candidate can fill the application form from the official website
  • The candidate must satisfy the eligibility criteria to write the BITSAT 2018 exam.
  • The candidate must pass his/her 10+2 with minimum 75% from physics, chemistry, and mathematics to take admission in B.E/ M.Tech.
  • The candidate must pass his/her 10+2 with minimum 75% from physics, chemistry, and biology to take admission in B.Pharm.
  • With at least 60% marks in each of the Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/ Biology subjects.
  • Candidates can download the admit card from the official website of BITSAT 2018.
  • The admit card will be available for BITSAT 2018 from 16th April 2018.
  • The process of counselling starts from 23rd July 2018
  • BITS shall provide admissions to students on the basis of marks scored by the candidate.
  • The admission is solely based on the merit list only i.e BITSAT 2018 is a purely merit-based examination and has 0% reservation.

Important notes:  

  • There is no reservation of seats, admissions are done only through BITSAT 2018.
  • The courses are normally for the duration of 4 years but the students are given an option to complete them before/after time.  
  • Those students admitted to M.Sc. are eligible to apply for a dual degree.
  • They can choose B.E (Hons.) or B.Pharm (Hons.), the duration of the same will be five years.
  • An expert committee from BITS university will prepare the question paper.
  • Different candidates will get a different BITSAT of questions.
  • It is ensured by the expert committee that the question BITSATs are of comparable difficulty level, content, question type etc. In this matter, the decision of the expert committee will be final and binding on the candidate.
  • It is assumed that the candidate has a basic awareness of computers, keyboard and mouse operation. Else, it is the responsibility of the candidate to gain these skills before appearing for BITSAT 2018 and Institute does not take responsibility for the same.
  • BITS is planning to operate test centers in different cities other than Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad campuses of BITS.
  • The final list of centers and actual days of operation will be announced to candidates through the BITS admission website www.bitsadmission.com.
  • Institute cannot guarantee that test centers will be BITSAT up in all these cities. Further, the Institute reserves the right to cancel any test center if such a situation arises. In such cases, those candidates allotted to these centers will be accommodated in alternate test centers including Pilani/Goa/Hyderabad campuses of BITS.
  • During the test days, each day the exam will be conducted in two slots. Where in, the first slot is scheduled from 9:00 to 12:00 and the second slot is scheduled from 14:00 to 17:00.
  • Candidates who are allotted test centers in Pilani/Goa/Hyderabad campuses of BITS may be given accommodation on nominal charges in the hostels.
  • Candidate must obey the rules of the test centers; or else he/she will be automatically debarred from the test.
  • A candidate can apply online only once for BITSAT 2018. But, In case, if a candidate completes the application form along with fee but recognizes any mistake in the application form submitted by him/her, he/she can edit the required fields in the online application during the correction window dates are released.
  • All Candidates appearing for BITSAT 2018 are advised to view the official website regularly for all related information on BITSAT and on admissions to BITS.  

BITSAT 2018 Important Dates

  • The BITSAT application Forms will be available from 8th January 2018 on the official website.
  • The last date for submission of BITSAT application Form is 2nd March 2019.
  • In case of any discrepancies, the BITSAT application forms can be corrected in the month of March 2018.
  • BITSAT 2018 exam center allotment will be done in the month of March 2018.
  • Candidate can reserve test dates in March 2018.
  • BITSAT admit cards can be downloaded on 16th April 2018.
  • The online test will be conducted on 20th May 2018 .
  • The BITSAT 2018 results will be declared on 1st July 2018 
 

BITSAT 2018 Eligibility

  • Candidates should have passed their class 12 examination with a minimum of 75% marks from any
    recognized board to be eligible for BITSAT 2018.
  • Eligibility Criteria for B.E (Hons.) and M.Sc. (Tech.): Candidates should have passed their 12th standard examination from the Central or State Board. Candidates must have passed Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry in Class 12 and scored an aggregate of 75% in these subjects. Candidates should have secured a minimum of 60% marks in each subject mentioned above to be eligible for BITSAT. Candidates need to be proficient in English.
  • Eligibility Criteria for B.Pharm (Hons.): Candidates should have passed their 12th standard examination from the Central or State Board. Candidates must have passed Biology, Physics, and Chemistry in Class 12 and scored an aggregate of 75% in these subjects. Candidates should have secured minimum 60% marks in each subject mentioned above to be eligible for BITSAT. Students with physics, chemistry, and mathematics are also eligible to apply for this course.
  • Age Limit: The candidates willing to take the BITSAT exam will have to be 21 to 25 years as on October 1st, 2018.
  • Merit: Candidates will be selected only on the basis of merit.
  • Direct admission: Candidates who have secured the 1st rank get directly admitted, however only on providing the valid proof.
    Eligibility regarding supplementary examination: Students who appeared for the supplementary examination of class 12 are eligible to appear for BITSAT only if the attempt has been for all the prescribed subjects.
  • Eligibility regarding students who are part of BITS: Students who are currently studying in any of the BITS colleges are not eligible to appear for the test.
 

BITSAT 2018 Application Process

  • The BITSAT Application Process will begin on 8th January 2018. 
  • Application process: The process includes the candidates logging onto the official website to register themselves for the application form, filling the form and paying the exam fee through the provided mode of payment.
  • The process requires the candidates to fill in their personal and education details, select the subject of their choice.
  • The candidates can choose three preferred exam centers on priority on the basis of which the exam centers are allocated.
  • Payment of the fees: The application form fees for the BITSAT exam for male candidates is Rs. 2200 and for female candidates it is Rs. 1700. For NRI students it is $50(varies according to the foreign currency exchange rate).
  • Mode of payment: The payment of fees can be made through Debit Card/Credit Card /Net Banking or through the e-challan from any ICICI bank within India.
 

BITSAT 2018 Application Form Details

  • The BITSAT Application Forms are available online and candidates must apply through the Official Website.
  • Candidates are required to pay the Application Form Fee online and take a printout of the filled in BITSAT Application Form for future reference.
  • The BITSAT Application Forms will be available from 8th January 2018 
  • The last date of submission of BITSAT Application Forms is 2nd March 2019.
  • The BITSAT 2018 correction window will be opened in the month of March 2018.
  • BITSAT 2018 Exam centres will be allotted in the month of March 2018.
  • Candidates can reserve the BITSAT test dates from the 5th of April 2018.
  • BITSAT 2018 will be between 20th May 2018  to 27th May 2018.

BITSAT 2018 Admit Card

  • Date: BITSAT Admit cards can be downloaded from the official exam website from 16th April 2018.
  • In case candidates forget their BITSAT Application Number while downloading the admit card, they can access it using the link provided on the email ID.
  • Admit card download: Candidates are required to download the BITSAT Admit Card from the Official Website by entering their application number, gender, and date of birth.
  • Candidates can save a few copies of the admit card. They also have to retain the BITSAT Admit Card till the admission procedure ends.
  • Details: The BITSAT Admit Card contains details such as the date, time, and the exam center etc.
  • The BITSAT Admit Card is a mandatory document to answer the exam and only an Admit Card downloaded from the official website is considered valid.
  • Identity Proof: Candidates are required to carry a valid identity proof along with the admit card to the examination center.

BITSAT 2018 Exam Pattern

  • Online Exam: The BITSAT exam is a computer-based exam.
  • Language Medium: The BITSAT exam is conducted in English.
  • Type of questions: BITSAT includes 150 objective type questions.
  • Syllabus: The syllabus for the exam includes subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology, English and Logical Reasoning.
  • Duration: BITSAT is for a duration of three hours without break.
  • Number of sections: BITSAT has four sections of questions for the five subjects.
  • Marking Scheme: For every correct answer, 3 marks will be awarded and for every incorrect answer 1 mark is deducted. No marks are deducted for the unattempted questions.
  • Maximum marks: The maximum marks for BITSAT is 450 marks. 
  • Questions allocated in each section: Physics, Chemistry, English, Logical Reasoning and Mathematics/Biology have 40, 40, 15, 10 and 45 questions respectively.

BITSAT 2018 Syllabus

  • The syllabus for the BITSAT exam has mainly five subjects. Each of the subjects includes the following topics to be studied.
  • Physics: The topics under the Physics syllabus is as below:
    Units and Measurement, Kinematics, Newton's Law of Motion, Impulse and Momentum, Work and Energy, Rotation Motion, Gravitation, Mechanics of Solids and Fluids, Oscillations, Waves, Heat and Thermodynamics, Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Magnetic Effect of Current, Electromagnetic Induction, Optics, Modern Physics and Electronic Devices.
  • Chemistry: The topics under the Chemistry syllabus is as below:
    States of Matter, Atomic Structure, Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure, Thermodynamics, Physical and Chemical Equilibria, Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics, Hydrogen and s-block elements, p-d- and f- block elements, Principles of Organic Chemistry and Hydrocarbons, Stereochemistry, Organic Compounds with Functional Groups containing Oxygen and Nitrogen, Biological, Industrial and Environment Chemistry and Theoretical Principles of Experimental Chemistry.
  • English Proficiency and Logical Reasoning: The topics under the English Proficiency and Logical Reasoning syllabus is as below:
    English Proficiency, Grammar, Vocabulary, Reading Comprehension, Composition, Verbal Reasoning and Non-verbal Reasoning.
  • Mathematics: The topics under the Mathematics syllabus is as below:
    Algebra, Trigonometry, Two-dimensional Coordinate Geometry, Three-dimensional Coordinate Geometry, Differential Calculus, Integral Calculus, Ordinary Differential Equations, Probability, Vectors, Statistics, Linear Programming and Mathematical modelling.
  • Biology: The topics under the Biology syllabus is as below:
    Diversity in Living World, Cell: The Unit of Life; Structure and Function, Genetics and Evolution, Structure and Function-Plants, Structure and Function-Animals, Reproduction, Growth and Movement in Plants, Reproduction and Development in Humans, Ecology and Environment, Biology and Human Welfare and Biotechnology and its Applications.

BITSAT 2018 Results

  • The BITSAT Results are announced online on the Official Website.
  • The BITSAT Results are calculated on the basis of the BITSAT results and the 12th results.
  • Scorecards can be downloaded from the official website immediately after the exam or later on.
  • The merit list is prepared by the examination conducting authority and is further divided into the Admit list and the waiting list.
  • Merit list: There will be two separate merit list prepared i.e, one for all programmes except B.Pharm and the other list only for B.Pharm.
  • Tiebreak: Maths/Biology scores will be used to break a tie in case of announcing the scores. If the tie still persists, the Physics and then Chemistry scores will be compared.
  • The BITSAT 2018 cut off (expected) at Pilani Campus for the courses is as follows: 
    B.E.(Hons.) - It ranges from 308 to 352.
    B.Pharm. (Hons.) - 266.
    M.Sc.(Hons.) - It ranges from 284 to 308.
  • The BITSAT 2018 cut off (expected) at Goa Campus for the courses is as follows: 
    B.E.(Hons.) - It ranges from 279 to 323.
    M.Sc.(Hons.) - It ranges 268 to 282.

  • The BITSAT 2018 cut off (expected) at Hyderabad Campus for the courses is as follows: 
    B.E.(Hons.) - It ranges from 277 to 316.
    B.Pharm. (Hons.) - The cut-off is 272.
    M.Sc.(Hons.) - It ranges from 266 to 282.

BITSAT 2018 Counselling

  •  The counselling process for BITSAT will begin in 23rd July 2018  and will end in the 2nd week of August 2018.
  •  There will be four rounds of counselling for BITSAT.
  • Closing date for receiving the admission forms and announcement of 1st round of  admission assignment will be in the end of June 2018.
  • Announcement of admission and waiting list after round 1 will be in the 1st week of July 2018.
  • Closing date for admission of advance fees and announcement of 2nd round of  admission assignment will be in the 2nd week of July 2018.
  • Announcement of admission assignment after round 2 will be in the 2nd week of July 2018.
  • Closing date for payment of the balance fee by the candidates selected for admission from the waiting list in 2nd round and announcement of 3rd round of  admission assignment will be in the 4th week of July 2018.
  • Announcement of admission assignment after round 3 will be in the 4th week of July 2018.
  • Reporting at the campuses for admission and the announcement of 4th round of  admission assignment will be in the 4th week of July 2018.
  • Announcement of admission assignment after round 4 will be in the 4th week of July 2018.
  • Candidates selected in the round 4 and reporting at the campuses for admission will be in the 1st week of Aug 2018.

Chemistry:- Petroleum, dynes, and drugs.

Mathematics:- statistics, exponential, and logarithmic series.

The Board will also provide you with a Window of correction for the BITSAT Application Forms from the 7th to the 10th of March.

If you are repeating 12th exam, you should do it for the all the subjects as required by the board to pass 12th again. If you take improvement exams in PCM/PCB only, you are not eligible.
