About BITSAT 2018:

  • BITSAT 2018 is Computer Based Online Test.
  • BITSAT Exam is held every year for the purpose of students to avail admission to Integrated First Degree programs of BITS institutions.
  • BITSAT 2018 is conducted to get admissions for Bachelor’s level and Masters’ level engineering as well as pharmacy courses by the prestigious Birla Institute of Science and Technology.
  • Admissions to BITS will be made purely on merit.
  • The application form for BITSAT 2018 will be available from 8th January 2018 till 2nd March 2018.
  • Candidate can fill the application form from the official website
  • The candidate must satisfy the eligibility criteria to write the BITSAT 2018 exam.
  • The candidate must pass his/her 10+2 with minimum 75% from physics, chemistry, and mathematics to take admission in B.E/ M.Tech.
  • The candidate must pass his/her 10+2 with minimum 75% from physics, chemistry, and biology to take admission in B.Pharm.
  • With at least 60% marks in each of the Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/ Biology subjects.
  • Candidates can download the admit card from the official website of BITSAT 2018.
  • The admit card will be available for BITSAT 2018 from 18th April 2018.
  • The process of counselling starts from 23rd July 2018
  • BITS shall provide admissions to students on the basis of marks scored by the candidate.
  • The admission is solely based on the merit list only i.e BITSAT 2018 is a purely merit-based examination and has 0% reservation.

About Birla Institute of Technology and Science(BITS)   

  • This prestigious Institute was established in 1964. During this period, the institute's transformation from a regional engineering college to a national university was backed by Ghanshyam Das Birla.
  • Later days, BITS established centers at Hyderabad, Pilani, Goa, and Dubai.
  • Birla Institute of Technology and Science(BITS) is an all India Institution.
  • BITS has been declared as a Deemed University under Section 3 of UGC ACT

  • This test is referred as "BITS Admission Test" i.e BITSAT 2018.
  • Every year, a lakhs of students compete for a total of 2000 seats. Meaning that competition level to get admitted in BITS is really high.
  • Admission is purely merit-based only, as assessed by the BITSAT 2018 examination.

  • This entrance test will be conducted in various cities of the country on 20th May 2018.
  • The result of BITSAT 2018 declares few weeks after the exam.

Important notes:  

  • There is no reservation of seats, admissions are done only through BITSAT 2018.
  • The courses are normally for the duration of 4 years but the students are given an option to complete them before/after time.  
  • Those students admitted to M.Sc. are eligible to apply for a dual degree.
  • They can choose B.E (Hons.) or B.Pharm (Hons.), the duration of the same will be five years.
  • An expert committee from BITS university will prepare the question paper.
  • Different candidates will get a different BITSAT of questions.
  • It is ensured by the expert committee that the question BITSATs are of comparable difficulty level, content, question type etc. In this matter, the decision of the expert committee will be final and binding on the candidate.
  • It is assumed that the candidate has a basic awareness of computers, keyboard and mouse operation. Else, it is the responsibility of the candidate to gain these skills before appearing for BITSAT 2018 and Institute does not take responsibility for the same.
  • BITS is planning to operate test centers in different cities other than Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad campuses of BITS.
  • The final list of centers and actual days of operation will be announced to candidates through the BITS admission website www.bitsadmission.com.
  • Institute cannot guarantee that test centers will be BITSAT up in all these cities. Further, the Institute reserves the right to cancel any test center if such a situation arises. In such cases, those candidates allotted to these centers will be accommodated in alternate test centers including Pilani/Goa/Hyderabad campuses of BITS.
  • During the test days, each day the exam will be conducted in two slots. Where in, the first slot is scheduled from 9:00 to 12:00 and the second slot is scheduled from 14:00 to 17:00.
  • Candidates who are allotted test centers in Pilani/Goa/Hyderabad campuses of BITS may be given accommodation on nominal charges in the hostels.
  • Candidate must obey the rules of the test centers; or else he/she will be automatically debarred from the test.
  • A candidate can apply online only once for BITSAT 2018. But, In case, if a candidate completes the application form along with fee but recognizes any mistake in the application form submitted by him/her, he/she can edit the required fields in the online application during the correction window dates are released.
  • All Candidates appearing for BITSAT 2018 are advised to view the official website regularly for all related information on BITSAT and on admissions to BITS.  

BITSAT 2018 Important Dates

  • The BITSAT Application Form has to be submitted through online mode from the official website.
  • The last date for submission of BITSAT Application Form has to be noted by the candidates by frequently accessing the official exam website.
  • There is a provision to correct any discrepancies in the BITSAT application forms in the window provided in the month of March 2018.
  •  The allotment of exam center will be done by the examination authority in the month of March 2018.
  • Candidates have the option of reserving the test dates in March 2018.
  • The BITSAT admit cards are made available on the official website from where the candidates can download it from  18th April 2018.
  • The BITSAT test is conducted on 20th May 2018 .
  • Once the test is conducted, the results will be declared on 1st July 2018.

BITSAT 2018 Eligibility

 

  • Eligibility Criteria for B.E (Hons.) and M.Sc. (Tech.): Candidates should have passed their Class 12 examination from the Central or State Board. Candidates must have passed Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry in Class 12 and scored an aggregate of 75% in these subjects. Candidates should have secured a minimum of 60% marks in each subject mentioned above to be eligible for BITSAT. Also, candidates need to be proficient in English.
  • Eligibility Criteria for B.Pharm (Hons.): Candidates should have passed their Class 12 examination from the Central or State Board. Candidates must have passed Biology, Physics, and Chemistry in Class 12 and scored an aggregate of 75% in these subjects. Candidates should have secured minimum 60% marks in each subject mentioned above to be eligible for BITSAT. Students who have studied the combination of physics, chemistry, and mathematics are also eligible to apply for this course.
  • The candidates willing to take the BITSAT exam will have to be between the ages of 21to 25 years as on October 1st, 2018.
  • The selection of the candidates will be done only on the basis of merit.
  • There is a provision for direct admissions for the candidates who secure the 1st rank. 
  •  Students who appeared for the supplementary examination of class 12 are eligible to appear for BITSAT only if the attempt has been for all the prescribed subjects.
  • The BITSAT test cannot be answered by the students who are currently studying in any of the BITS colleges.

BITSAT 2018 Application Process

  • The process of applying for the BITSAT exam will begin on 8th January 2018. 
  • The application process includes the registration, filling the application form and payment of the fee.
  • The process requires the candidates to fill in their personal and education details, select the subject of their choice.
  • The candidates  have the option of choosing the subjects which they wish to answer and the preferred exam center 
  • The application form fee for the BITSAT exam for male candidates is Rs. 2200 and for female candidates it is Rs. 1700.
  • The fee for NRI students it is $50(varies according to the foreign currency exchange rate).
  •  The candidates can pay the fees through Debit Card/Credit Card /Net Banking or through an e-challan from any ICICI bank within India.

BITSAT 2018 Application Form Details

  • The candidates must apply for the exam only through the online application form at the official website.
  • Candidates have to make the payment of fee through the online modes.
  • The registered candidates can retain a printout of the filled in BITSAT Application Form for future reference.
  • The BITSAT Application Forms will be available on the official website from 8th January 2018.
  • The candidates need to fill in their personal and academic details in the online application form.
  • The last date of submission of BITSAT Application Forms is 2nd March 2018.
  • The BITSAT 2018 correction window will be opened in the month of March 2018.
  • BITSAT 2018 Exam centers will be allotted in the month of March 2018.
  • Candidates can reserve the BITSAT test dates from the 5th of April 2018.
  • BITSAT 2018 will be between 20th May 2018  to 27th May 2018.

BITSAT 2018 Admit Card

  • The Admit card can be downloaded from the official exam website from 18th April 2018 onwards.
  • If the candidates forget their BITSAT Application Number while filling in the details to download the admit card, they can access it using the link sent to their email ID.
  • Candidates are required to download the BITSAT Admit Card from the Official Website by entering their application number, gender, and date of birth.
  • Candidates, have to retain the BITSAT Admit Card till the admission procedure ends.
  • The BITSAT Admit Card contains details such as the candidate information, date, time of the exam and the exam center etc.
  • The BITSAT Admit Card is a mandatory document to answer the exam.
  • Candidates are required to carry a valid identity proof along with the admit card to the examination center.

BITSAT 2018 Exam Pattern

  •  The BITSAT exam is a computer-based exam.
  • The BITSAT exam is conducted only in English.
  • BITSAT contains 150 multiple choice objective type questions.
  • The syllabus for the BITSAT exam includes subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology, English and Logical Reasoning.
  •  BITSAT exam is for a duration of three hours.
  • BITSAT has four sections which include questions for the five subjects.
  • Marking Scheme: For every correct answer, 3 marks will be awarded and for every incorrect answer 1 mark is deducted. No marks are deducted for the unattempted questions.
  • Maximum marks: The maximum marks for BITSAT is 450 marks. 
  • Questions allocated in each section: Physics, Chemistry, English, Logical Reasoning and Mathematics/Biology have 40, 40, 15, 10 and 45 questions respectively.

BITSAT 2018 Syllabus

  • The syllabus for the BITSAT exam has mainly five subjects. Each of the subjects includes the following topics to be studied.
  • Physics: 
    Units and Measurement, Kinematics, Newton's Law of Motion, Impulse and Momentum, Work and Energy, Rotation Motion, Gravitation, Mechanics of Solids and Fluids, Oscillations, Waves, Heat and Thermodynamics, Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Magnetic Effect of Current, Electromagnetic Induction, Optics, Modern Physics and Electronic Devices.
  • Chemistry: 
    States of Matter, Atomic Structure, Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure, Thermodynamics, Physical and Chemical Equilibria, Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics, Hydrogen and s-block elements, p-d- and f- block elements, Principles of Organic Chemistry and Hydrocarbons, Stereochemistry, Organic Compounds with Functional Groups containing Oxygen and Nitrogen, Biological, Industrial and Environment Chemistry and Theoretical Principles of Experimental Chemistry.
  • English Proficiency and Logical Reasoning: The topics under the English Proficiency and Logical Reasoning syllabus is as below:
    English Proficiency, Grammar, Vocabulary, Reading Comprehension, Composition, Verbal Reasoning and Non-verbal Reasoning.
  • Mathematics:
    Algebra, Trigonometry, Two-dimensional Coordinate Geometry, Three-dimensional Coordinate Geometry, Differential Calculus, Integral Calculus, Ordinary Differential Equations, Probability, Vectors, Statistics, Linear Programming and Mathematical modelling.
  • Biology: 
    Diversity in Living World, Cell: The Unit of Life; Structure and Function, Genetics and Evolution, Structure and Function-Plants, Structure and Function-Animals, Reproduction, Growth and Movement in Plants, Reproduction and Development in Humans, Ecology and Environment, Biology and Human Welfare and Biotechnology and its Applications.

BITSAT 2018 Results

  • The Results for BITSAT are announced online on the Official Website.
  • The results are calculated on the basis of the scores of BITSAT and the class 12 marks r.
  • Scorecards can be downloaded from the official website.
  • The merit list is prepared by the examination conducting authority and is further divided into the Admit list and the waiting list.
  • There will be two separate merit list prepared i.e, one for all programmes except B.Pharm and the other list only for B.Pharm.
  • in case of announcing the scores, if there is an issue of a tie the Maths/Biology scores will be used to break a tie. If the tie still persists, the Physics and then Chemistry scores will be compared.
  • The BITSAT 2018 cut off (expected)  for the courses at Pilani Campus is as follows: 
    B.E.(Hons.) - 308 to 352.
    B.Pharm. (Hons.) - 266.
    M.Sc.(Hons.) - 284 to 308.
  • The BITSAT 2018 cut off (expected)  for the courses at Goa Campus is as follows: 
    B.E.(Hons.) -  279 to 323.
    M.Sc.(Hons.) - 268 to 282.

  • The BITSAT 2018 cut off (expected)  for the courses at Hyderabad Campus is as follows:

BITSAT 2018 Counselling

  • The counselling process for BITSAT will begin in 23rd July 2018  and will end in the 2nd week of August 2018.
  • There will be four rounds of counselling for the various courses at the campuses of BITSAT.
  • Last date for receiving the admission forms and announcement of the 1st round of admission assignment will be at the end of June 2018. The announcement of admission and waiting list after round 1 will be in the 1st week of July 2018.
  • Last date for admission of advance fees and announcement of the 2nd round of admission assignment will be in the 2nd week of July 2018. The announcement of admission assignment after round 2 will be in the 2nd week of July 2018.
  • Last date for payment of the balance fee by the candidates selected for admission from the waiting list in 2nd round and announcement of the 3rd round of admission assignment will be in the 4th week of July 2018.
  • The announcement of admission assignment after round 3 will be in the 4th week of July 2018.
  • Reporting at the campuses for admission and the announcement of the 4th round of admission assignment will be in the 4th week of July 2018.
  • The announcement of admission assignment after round 4 will be in the 4th week of July 2018.
  • Candidates selected in the round 4 and reporting at the campuses for admission will be in the 1st week of Aug 2018.

Is it necessary to solve previous year question paper for BITSAT?

Yes, It is necessary to solve previous year question papers if you want to score 360+ score in BITSAT. 

solving previous year question not only gives you the idea about the level of questions asked in the examination but it also increases your speed of solving the question. As you have to solve  150(+12 bonus) questions in 180 minutes, which is not an easy task.
