Introduction to CAT 2018 Exam:

  • About: CAT 2018 exam is an online test held in India and it is one of the most widely recognized competitive examinations in India.

  • Conducted By: Common Admission Test [CAT] 2018 exam is conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management.

  • Admission: The CAT 2018 exam is known as the India's Biggest Entrance test for Admission in MBA and it helps to get eligibility for admission to Top Management Colleges in India.

  • Institute: The CAT 2018 exam scores are also used for admission in various management courses in 19 IIMs and 150 B-schools across India.

  • Date: CAT 2018 exam will be conducted on 4th December 2018 respectively.

  • Syllabus: CAT 2018 Exam has 3 sections: Quantitative Aptitude, Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning, Verbal & Reading Comprehension.

  • Course: CAT 2018 Exam will be conducted for giving admission to students in postgraduate management programs (MBA).

  • Post Graduate Management Programmes: PGP, PGP-FABM, PGPEM, PGDM, EPGP PGPSM, PGPWE, PGDHRM, PGPEX, and PGPBM also are offered by the IIMs.

  • Application: In 2017 more than 2.31 lakh students have registered for CAT 2017 exam which was held on November 26th, 2017.

  • Registration: Candidates are advised to register and submit their CAT 2018 exam applications form well before 27th September 2018. 

  • Admit card: After the CAT 2018 exam registration candidates can download the admit card from 24th October 2018.

CAT 2018 Exam Eligibility Criteria:

  • Qualification: Candidates who have completed their Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 50% aggregate can apply for CAT 2018 Exam.

  • Reservation: A specific number of seats will be reserved for candidates who possess SC/ST/NC-OBC/PWD certificate.

CAT 2018 Exam Registration:

  • Date: Online application form for CAT 2018 exam will commencement from 8th August 2018  to 27th September 2018.

  • Payment: Candidates can pay the CAT 2018 exam Application form fee through online mode (Credit Card/Debit Card/Net Banking).

CAT 2018 Exam Admit Card:

  • Login: To download CAT 2018 exam admit card candidates have to enter their login credentials like "CAT user Id and password".

  • Details: CAT 2018 admit card includes the candidate’s name, date of birth, CAT registration Id, exam centre, exam date and time.

  • Note: Admit card is the mandatory document that has to be carried to the CAT 2018 exam centre along with a photo identity card. 


CAT Exam 2018 Counselling:

  • Authority: The counselling dates for CAT exam 2018  is released by Indian Institute of Management.

  • Counselling Date: CAT Exam 2018 counselling will commence on 22nd January 2019.

  • Eligibility: To attend CAT Exam 2018 counselling a candidate has to qualify the written and interview round. 

CAT 2018 Exam Pattern:

  • Questions: CAT 2018 examination will have two types of Questions Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) and non-MCQ type questions.

  • Marks: For every correct answer, 3 marks will be awarded and 1 marks will be deducted if the answer is wrong.

Preparation Tips for CAT 2018 Exam:

CAT 2018 Exam Planning:

  • After analyzing the CAT 2018 Exam Pattern, Make a personalized syllabus for yourself and take that to study.

  • Personalized syllabus - it means you need to categorize each and every syllabus according to the difficulty level.

  • Eg. Categorize the syllabus according to the topics that you find ‘easy’, ‘Moderate’, ‘Difficult’ and ‘Very Difficult’ also understand the CAT 2018 exam topics that you’re good at and topics which you aren't good enough. Try to study the topics thoroughly in which you are good at.

Give Equal Attention to all 3 sections:

  • While preparing for CAT 2018 exam, you should not leave any topic of three sections, hence you need to pay equal attention to all 3 sections.

CAT Exam 2018 Dates Summary

  • The Official Date for the Common Admission Test (CAT 2018) Notification CAT 2018 is on  4th December 2018 to 4th December 2018.
  • The registration for the CAT2018 exam will begin on 8th August 2018 at 10.A.M  to 27th September 2018 at 5.00 P.M.
  • The Admit Card for CAT2018 2018 will be available from 24th October 2018 (1 PM onwards) to December 4th 2018.
  • The results will be published on 15th January 2019.

CAT 2018 Eligibility

CAT Exam 2018 Eligibility Summary

  • The applicant must have a Bachelor's Degree from a recognized institution with minimum 50% marks or an equivalent CGPA.

  • The SC/ST and PWD/DA category applicants have to have minimum 45% marks or an equivalent CGPA.

  • The CAT reservation for SC, ST, OBC and Physically challenged applicants is 15%, 7.5%, 27% and 3% respectively.

  • The percentage obtained in Bachelor's degree is calculated on the basis of conversion schemes. In the case of CGPA, the conversion would depend on the equivalent certificate awarded by the concerned University. The score calculated determines the applicant's eligibility.

  • Students who in their final year are also eligible for CAT 2018.

Personal Information to fill in the CAT 2018 Application Form

The name of the candidate will be filled automatically according to the information provided during the CAT Registration. Here the candidates are required to fill in their –

  • Father’s/Husband’s/Guardian’s Name and Gender.
  • Category (under which they will be applying)
  • Select the Person with disability/Differently Abled (If they fall in this category)
  • Enter communication address.
  • Upload documents (scanned images of passport size photograph, signature, category certificate and PWD/PA certificate).

Academic Details to be filled in the CAT 2018 Application Form:

In this part of the CAT Application form, the candidates are required to enter their education details. So fill in the sections applicable. The various sections are –

Work Experience:

CAT 2018 Admit Card

Admit Card Summary for CAT 2018:

  • CAT 2018 admit cards can be downloaded from the official CAT 2018 website from 24th October 2018. 
  • Carrying the CAT 2018 Admit card is mandatory to write the CAT 2018 examination and can be downloaded using your CAT Enrolment ID and Password. The admit card can be downloaded from release date until the day of the CAT exam.
  • The CAT 2018 admit card will have the following details:

Exam Pattern Summary for CAT 2018

  • The duration of the paper CAT 2018 exam will be of 3 hours.
  • Subjects covered in CAT 2018 exam will be logical reasoning & data interpretation, Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension, and Quantitative Ability.
  • 3 marks will be rewarded for every correct answer.
  • b will be deducted for every wrong answer.
