Introduction to CLAT 2018:

  • About: Common Law Admission Test is one of the most important entrance examinations to gain admission in the top law colleges in India. It is also known as CLAT 2018 nationwide by law aspirants.CLAT 2018 is conducted as per a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the Benefit of the students searching admission to various National Law Universities in the country. 

  • Level: CLAT 2018 Exam is a National level exam which is conducted in 66 Major Cities all over India.
  • Authority: The responsibility of Conducting CLAT 2018 is given to a particular NLU Institution every year. CLAT 2018 is conducted by National Law Universities (NLUs) in India. There is a total of 19 NLUs in the country.

  • Courses: CLAT 2018 is conducted to grant admission to LLB and LLM courses offered at various institutes/universities across India.

  • Frequency: The CLAT 2018 will be conducted once a year.

  • Seats and Exam Pattern: There are around 1100 seats in NLUs all over the country. The CLAT 2018 examination is conducted every year by 19 Law Universities in India in which a candidate’s skills are tested based on multiple choice questions(MCQ) asked from different subjects such as General Knowledge, Mathematics, English, Legal, and logical reasoning.

  • Attempts: There is no restriction on the number of attempts for CLAT.

CLAT 2018 Eligibility Criteria:

  • Minimum marks: Those candidates who have passed Class XII with a minimum of 45% marks are allowed to appear for the CLAT 2018 examination.

  • Age Criteria: The maximum age limit for CLAT 2018 exam is 20 years for the general, NRI and NRI sponsored category students. But, the maximum age limit is 22 years for the candidates belonging to the SC/ST/ OBC/Specially Abled Persons (SAP) category.

CLAT 2018 Application Form:

  • Documents Required: In CLAT 2018 Application form Applicants need to upload the Scanned copy of Photograph and Signature.Size should of the Image not be more than 100 KB. It should be in JPEG or PDF format.

  • Application fee: The candidates have to pay the CLAT 2018 application form fees of (US$63) INR 4000 and for ST/SC INR 3500.

CLAT 2018 Exam Pattern:

  • Mode & Maximum Marks: The CLAT 2018 examination will be conducted in online mode and the examination will be for 200 marks.

Guidelines for CLAT 2018 Examination:

  • Reporting Time: The candidate is Advised to report to the exam venue as per the reporting time mentioned on the admit card.

  • Note: Candidates are not allowed to enter in the examination hall after the commencement of examination.

  • Rough Work: Scratch papers are provided to all candidate for rough work at the examination hall. Rough work cannot be done any other paper sheet, as nothing will be allowed inside the testing room. Upon completion of the test, candidates will have to hand back all the scratch paper to the administrator.

  • Personal Belongings: The candidate is not allowed to carry any personal belongings to the CLAT 2018 exam centre including but not limited to wrist-watch, cell phones, calculators, etc., In case of candidate carry the personal item, it will have to be kept outside the examination hall at your own risk. The examination centre will not responsible for any loss or damage of such items.

  • Punctual: If the candidate completes the exam before the scheduled end time, he/she will not be allowed to leave the exam hall. The candidate is allowed to leave the exam only after the scheduled three hours of the exam are over.

  • Photograph and Signature: Candidates should ensure that the signatures appended and photographs uploaded by them in their Application Form and Admit Card should be identical and there should be no variation of any kind.

  • Essentials: Candidates would be eligible to apply for CLAT 2018 if they have completed their 10+2 or equivalent examination.

Minimum marks:

  • Category: Minimum 45% marks in case of candidates belonging to General/ OBC/ Specially-abled person categories.

Documents required during the Application process:

  • Photograph of the candidate with clear lenses 30 mm x 45 mm and size should not more than 100 KB, JPG/JPEG format. Signature of the candidate should not be more than 80 KB in JPG/JPEG format. 
  • SC/ST Certificates (if applicable), Domicile Certificates (if required), Birth Certificate, Passport size photographs, Uploaded signature.

  • Completely filled application form with the acknowledged receipt can be downloaded in PDF format. The printout of the acknowledgement form can be kept for future reference.

  • Allocation: The slot will be allocated for counselling which depends on the CLAT 2018 results.

There is an entrance test which students have to write known as CLAT. The question paper contains 200 questions which are from Maths, Gk, logical thinking, legal thinking, and English as well. The criteria were based on the 12th HSC Scores and CLAT scores.The CLAT is the only entrance exam I took. The cutoff was based on my 12th HSC marks and CLAT scores. It was calculated by 75% of my 12th scores and 25% of my scores.

To be eligible to appear for the CLAT examination 2017, candidates from general category must not be older than 20 years as on July 1st, 2017. Candidates from SC and ST category should not be less than 22 years as, on July 1st, 2017 or they aren't eligible. There is no upper age limit specified and candidates above the specified age limit are eligible to apply for the CLAT exam.


Only Indian candidates are eligible to apply for the examination. Students with a compartment in 12th also are eligible to apply for CLAT 2017.

Even NRI's are eligible to appear for the exams.

Only candidates who have appeared and passed the in the qualifying exam are eligible to write the CLAT. The candidates who have written the supplementary are also eligible to appear for CLAT provided they produce proof of having cleared the supplementary.
