About CLAT Exam:

  • One of the most important entrance examinations to pursue a career in law is the Common Law Admission Test. It is also known as CLAT nationwide by law aspirants.
  • It is conducted to grant admission to LLB and LLM courses offered at various institutes/ universities across India.CLAT is conducted by National Law Universities (NLUs) in India.
  • There is a total of 18 NLUs in the country. The responsibility of carrying out CLAT #examination is given to a particular NLU every year.
  • There are around 1100 seats in NLUs all over the country.The examination is conducted every year by 18 Law Universities in India in which a candidate’s skills are tested based on multiple choice questions asked from different subjects such as General Knowledge, Mathematics, English, Legal, and logical reasoning.

    Eligibility Criteria 

  • Those candidates who have cleared Class XII with a minimum of 45% marks are allowed to appear for the examination.
  • However, for the SC/ST candidates, there is five percent relaxation in the minimum marks required for the eligibility criteria of the exam. 
  • The maximum age limit is 20 years for the general, NRI and NRI sponsored category students. But, the maximum age limit is 22 years for the candidates of SC/ST/ OBC/Specially Abled Persons (SAP) category candidates.

    Exam pattern:

  • The exam pattern followed for CLAT has maximum marks of 200 marks.
  • There is a total of 18 NLUs in the country. The responsibility of carrying out CLAT #examination is given to a particular NLU every year.
  • There are around 1100 seats in NLUs all over the country.
  • CLAT 2018 will be conducted in 138 exam centers all over India through online process. Interested candidate who registered successfully will be eligible for CLAT Exam.
  • The application procedure of CLAT 2018 begins on 1st January 2018 till 31st March 2018 will be on the official website.
  • Candidates have to go through the eligibility criteria before registering for the examination. 
  • The exam date for CLAT 2018 is announced on 14th May 2018.

    Syllabus:

  • The Syllabus for CLAT includes English, Logical Reasoning, General Knowledge, Elementary Mathematics, Legal Aptitude.
  • CLAT Examination will be conducted through online mode only.The question paper will be of multiple-choice question, the duration for CLAT Exam is of 2 hours. For LLB, Paper is divided into Mathematics, English, General Knowledge, Logical Reasoning and Legal Aptitude.

    Counselling:

  • After the result, a first list of the students based on the merit is published and, then the candidates will have to pay the counselling fees and register themselves for the counseling process.
  • The candidates can refer the cut-off list college wise which is available on the official website in order to apply for the required college.
  • The second list of provisionally selected candidates are then published on the website and the candidates also have to pay the counselling fee and register themselves for admission.
  • Similarly, there is two more selected students list put up on the official website, after which the students have to complete the admission procedure at the respective NLU's where they are allocated seats.
  • Usually , 
  • The allotment list of the candidates will be uploaded on the official website after all the rounds of counseling.

CLAT 2018 Important Dates

  • Application Start Date: 1st January 2018 .
  • Last Day For Application Submission: 31st March 2018 .
  • Admission Start Date: Fourth week of May 2018 to First Week of July 2018.
  • Admit Card Date: 20th April 2018 
  • CLAT 2018 Examination: 20th April 2018 
  • Results: 29th May 2018 
  • Admission Closing: First week of July 2018.

CLAT 2018 Eligibility

  • Minimum Education Qualification: 10th+12th from a recognised board or university, Students from General Category must have completed their 12th level with minimum 45% marks to satisfy the eligibility criteria for CLAT also who are awaiting their 10th and 12th results are eligible. The CLAT aspirant for post graduate courses must have done LLB degree from a recognised institute with minimum 55%. However, the requirement of percentage is 50% for ST and SC candidates and specially-abled students.
  • Age Limit: General Category-22years, SC/ST- not less than 22years.
  • Nationality: Indian candidates and NRI's.

CLAT 2018 Application Process

  • How to apply?: Visit the official website for CLAT 2018 examination, fill out the Application form with the required details.
  • Documents Required During Application Process: SC/ST Certificates (if applicable), Domicile Certificates (if required), Birth Certificate, Passport size photographs, Uploaded signature. 
  • Payment Method: Online, via Credit/Debit or Net Banking.

CLAT 2018 Application Form Details

  • The only way to apply for CLAT 2018 examination is through an online registration process.
    There is no other mode available to apply for the examination.
    The form will be available from 1st January 2018 till 31st March 2018.
  • Following scanned version of documents should be available to the candidates before applying for the form online:
  • Passport size Photograph
  • Valid Signatures
  • SC/ST certificate (if applicable)
  • Domicile certificate (if applicable)

  • Fee for candidates from general category is Rs 4000/-
  • Fee for candidates from reserved category is Rs 3500/-
  • Payment can be done online through debit, credit, or net banking.

CLAT 2018 Admit Card

  • Where to obtain: Candidates should log into the official website, enter their application number and DOB to download the Admit Card.
  • Details on Admit Card: Date, time, location, roll number, the name of the candidate, name of the said candidate's parents, application number et cetera. It is essential for candidates to verify these details on the admit card before appearing for the exam.

CLAT 2018 Exam Pattern

  • Duration of Exam: 2 hours.
  • Marking Scheme: Each right answer carries 1 mark whereas every wrong answer carries a negative marking of 0.25 (both PG&UG).
  • The number of questions for PG courses and Marks allotted: 150 questions, 150 Marks.
  • The number of questions for UG courses and Marks allotted: 200question, 200 Marks.

CLAT 2018 Syllabus

CLAT 2018 Counselling:

  • Step 1: The university-wise first indicative list based on merit-cum-preference will be published on the CLAT 2018 official website.

  • Step 2: Payment of Counselling fee.

  • Step 3: The publication of the second list having the names of the finalized candidates will be done after the payment of counselling fee.

  • Step 4: Publication of third list allotting seats to candidates.

  • Step 5: Completion of admission formalities at the allotted NLUs.

  • Step 6: Publication of fourth and final allotment list.

  • STEP 7: Completion of admission formalities at the allotted NLUs against fourth allotment list.

The Mock Test will be available on the Official Website (www.clat.ac.in) shortly.

The candidate can use the same and practise as many times as he/she wants. This will give look and feel of the format of online examination (Computer Based Test) in a simulation environment.

It can also be downloaded and can be installed on a stand-alone computer with NO COST.

To be eligible to appear for the CLAT examination 2017, candidates from general category must not be older than 20 years as on July 1st, 2017. Candidates from SC and ST category should not be less than 22 years as, on July 1st, 2017 or they aren't eligible. There is no upper age limit specified and candidates above the specified age limit are eligible to apply for the CLAT exam.

Note: 

Only Indian candidates are eligible to apply for the examination. Students with a compartment in 12th also are eligible to apply for CLAT 2017.

Even NRI's are eligible to appear for the exams.

Only candidates who have appeared and passed the in the qualifying exam are eligible to write the CLAT. The candidates who have written the supplementary are also eligible to appear for CLAT provided they produce proof of having cleared the supplementary.
