About HPCET:

Himachal Pradesh Combined Entrance Test is conducted every year by the Himachal Pradesh Technical University and is largely referred to as HPCET.

HPCET is a state-level entrance test organized to shortlist deserving candidates for admissions in various engineering courses and other courses like Pharmacy, MBA, MCA to various institutes in the state of Himachal Pradesh.

The B.Tech seats in various colleges of Himachal Pradesh state are offered to the aspiring students on the basis of the JEE Main 2018 or the HPCET merit. In a single year, around 50,000 candidates are applying for 7,292 total available seats in various Institutes of Himachal Pradesh.

The students are advised to visit the official website of Himachal Pradesh Technical University to fill up the HPCET application form available from the month of March 2018.

HPCET 2018 Important Dates

  • Application Availability: The applications for HPCET will be available from the month of March 2018.
  • Last Date to Submit Application: The last date for candidates to submit the application form is by April 2018.
  • Availability of HPCET Admit Card: Admit card to the Candidates will be available on the official website from the last week of April 2018.
  • Date of HPCET Exam: The HPCET 2018 examination will commence in the month of May 2018.
  • Declaration of Results: The results of the HPCET examination will be available in the last week of May 2018.
  • Counselling Process Date: The counseling process for the HPCET 2018 will commence in the month of June 2018

HPCET 2018 Eligibility

  • Age Limit: Candidates must be between 16 to 20 years of age.
  • Education Qualification: 
    1. The Applicants must have passed his/her 12th examination from any recognized school or University of Himachal Pradesh state to satisfy the HPCET eligibility criteria.
    2. The Applicants must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, English, and Mathematics as their subjects.
    3. The Applicants must have secured at least 45% marks in 12th class
    4. The Applicants falling in the reserved category (SC/ST) must hold a minimum score of 40% marks in 10+2 to satisfy the HPCET eligibility criteria.
  • Nationality: The candidates should be a citizen of India and domicile of Himachal Pradesh to satisfy the eligibility criteria.

HPCET 2018 Application Process

  • Obtaining the HPCET 2018 application: The Candidates applying can purchase the application form for HPCET 2018 from the universities office or can apply online using the HPCET 2018 website (http://www.himtu.ac.in/).
  • Application Form to HPCET: The Candidates will have to fill up the important details required in the application form, paste the passport size photographs and do a valid signature on the form. The Candidates will have to mail the form to the provided address. Candidates who are applying online will have to obtain the form from the official website for HPCEt 2018, fill in the required details and in the end upload the scanned copies of the photographs and signature.
  • Payment Mode: The candidates can make the payment for the Application Form either in cash or Demand Draft. If the candidate is applying online then he/she can make the payment using Credit/Debit card or net banking.

HPCET 2018 Application Form Details

The Application Form for HPCET 2018 examination can be found on the official website (http://www.himtu.ac.in/), Candidates willing to apply can visit the website. However, the following shows the fee details and payment modes for HPCET 2018:

  • Examination Fee: 
    • The HPCET application fee for General candidates is Rs. 1250/-
    • The HPCET application fee for SC/ST/OBC candidates is Rs. 1100/-
  • Modes of Payment: 
    • Online: The candidates paying the HPCET application fee through online mode can pay through Credit/debit or net banking.
    • Offline: The candidates paying the HPCET application fees offline can draw a challan in the favor of the University from the bank. The Applicants can also pay the HPCET application fee in cash at the admission office of the campus of the University or by drawing Demand Draft in favor of Finance Officer, Himachal Pradesh Technical University.

HPCET 2018 Admit Card

  • Availing the Admit Card: Candidates will have to visit the official website (http://www.himtu.ac.in/) and download the Admit Card. It is advisable that candidates have copies of the same in case a candidate loses his/her admit card.
  • Details on the Admit Card: The Admit Card contains details such as the Candidates name, registration number and the date and time of the examination. The Admit Card for HPCET 2018 also contains instructions that the candidate must follow in the examination hall.
  • Admit Card to HPCET 2018: The Admit Card is an important document and candidates are advised to carry the admit card to the HPCET 2018 examination. Candidates failing to provide their Admit Card during the examination, will not be allowed to give the exam. Plagiarizing the HPCET admit card is a punishable offense, action will be taken against any candidate found to be tampering with the HPCET admit card. If an HPCET admit card is found to be tampered with, the candidate might be barred from writing the  HPCET 2018 exam.

HPCET 2018 Exam Pattern

  • Mode of HPCET Exam: The HPCET exam will be conducted in offline mode, OMR sheets will be provided to make answers the candidates must use either blue or black pen for marking answers.
  • Duration of Exam: 03 hours allotted.
  • Marking Scheme for HPCET Exam: Each correct answer will carry 2 marks. Note that ¼ marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
  • Marks Allotted: There will 150 questions to solve in the HPCET question paper carrying 2marks each, making the paper of a total 300 marks.
  • Exam Paper Sections: The HPCET examination will consist of questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

HPCET 2018 Syllabus

The HPCET 2018 will follow the 10+2 syllabus of CBSE or State board. The candidates are suggested to follow the mentioned syllabus for better preparation for the upcoming entrance test. The question paper will mainly cover the subjects Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

  • Physics: 50 questions, 100 marks.
  • Chemistry: 50 questions, 100 marks.
  • Mathematics: 50 questions, 100 marks.

HPCET 2018 Results

  • Availability of HPCET 2018 Results: The result of HPCET 2018 will be declared by the end of May 2018 on the official website (http://www.himtu.ac.in/) for HPCET 2018. The candidates can check their HPCET results online to know whether they are eligible for further admission process or not.
  • How to Obtain HPCET Score Card: Candidates will have to visit the official website for the HPCET 2018 examination and provide essential information like roll number, father’s name, and candidates name to access their results.

HPCET 2018 Counselling

  • Counselling Date: The first two rounds of counselling will be conducted for the students applying via the JEE Main 2018 scores and the next round of counselling will be conducted on the basis of HPCET 2018 merit list. The merit list will be published on the official website.
  • Eligibility: Candidates who have successfully cleared their HPCET 2018 examination with the best scores will be called for the Counselling Process.
  • Required Documents for Counselling Process: Candidates selected for the counselling process are advised to carry the following documents with them:
    • Photocopy of Mark sheet.
    • Age proofDomicile (Himachal Pradesh Candidates).
    • Aadhar Card or any other identity proof.

Yes, you will be able to write the exam, provided you clear the Eligibility Criteria for HP CET.

As a new Exam Centre has also been introduced in the Jammu & Kashmir region itself for HP CET, you will be able to opt Jammu itself as your Exam Centre.
