Eligibility Criteria for IBPS RRB 2017

  • There are major differences between IBPS RRB Officer eligibility criteria and IBPS RRB office assistant eligibility.
  • Candidates are required to produce the relevant documents in original and a photocopy in support of their identity and eligibility pertaining to category, nationality, age, educational qualifications, etc. as indicated in the online application form.

Nationality/Citizenship: 

Participants must be a citizen of either of the following countries:

  • Citizen of India
  • Citizen of Nepal
  • Citizen of Bhutan
  • A Tibetan refugee
  • Migrated Peoples from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, The United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India. 

Eligibility for IBPS RRB Office Assistant (Multipurpose) Post: 

Participant must have Degree in any discipline from a recognized University or its equivalent.

Other mandatory Eligibility criteria for IBPS RRB 2017 are as follows:-

  • Proficiency in the local language as prescribed by the participating RRBs.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of Computer skills.

Eligibility for IBPS RRB Officer Scale I Post: 

Degree in any discipline. Preferred degree criteria Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Engineering, Pisciculture, Agricultural Marketing and Cooperation, Information Technology, Management, Law, Economics, and Accountancy.

  • Proficiency in local language.
  • Computer Knowledge.

Eligibility for IBPS RRB Officer Scale-II (General Banking Officer) Post: 

Degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.

Preferred degree criteria – Banking, Finance, Marketing, Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Engineering, Pisciculture, Agricultural Marketing and Cooperation, Information Technology, Management, Law, Economics, and Accountancy.
Required Experience – Two years as an officer in a Bank or Financial Institution.


Eligibility for IBPS RRB Officer Scale-II (Specialist Officers) Post:

  • Information Technology Officer (IT Officer) – Must have Degree in Electronics / Communication / Computer Science / Information Technology or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.
    Desirable: Certificate in ASP, PHP, C++, Java, VB, VC, OCP, etc.
    Required Experience: One year.
  • Chartered Accountant – Certified Associate (CA) from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
    Required Experience: One year.
  • Law Officer – Degree in Law or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.
    Required Experience: Two years as an advocate or should have worked as Law Officer in Banks or Financial Institutions for a period, not less than two years.
  • Treasury Manager – Certified Associate (CA) from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India or MBA in Finance from a recognized university/ institution. 
    Required Experience: One year.
  • Marketing Officer – MBA in Marketing from a recognized university.
    Required Experience: One year.
  • Agricultural Officer – Degree in Agriculture/ Horticulture/ Dairy/ Animal Husbandry/ Forestry/ Veterinary Science/ Agricultural Engineering/ Pisciculture with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.
    Required Experience: Two years.

Eligibility for IBPS RRB Officer Scale III Post:

  • Degree with a minimum of 50% marks. Preference Criteria having Degree/ Diploma in Banking, Finance, Marketing, Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Engineering, Pisciculture, Agricultural Marketing and Co-operation, Information Technology, Management, Law, Economics, and Accountancy.
  • Required Experience: Minimum 5 years experience as an Officer in a Bank or Financial Institutions.

Age Criteria:

  • Officer Scale I =Candidates should be between 18 – 30 Years (DOB between 03 09 1987 to 30-08-1999)
  • Officer Scale II =Candidates should be between 21 – 32 Years (DOB between 03 09 1985 to 30-08-1996)
  • Officer Scale III =Candidates should be between  21 – 40 Years (DOB between 03-09-1977 to 30-08-1996)
  • Office Assistant (Multipurpose) =Candidates should be between  18 – 28 Years (DOB between 02-09-1989 to 01-09-1999)

All students should check for respective IBPS RRB Eligibility criteria for the respective post before applying IBPS RRB Office Assistant and Officer (Scale I, II & III). Education Qualification criteria are different for each IBPS RRB Post category.

The required education qualification should be from a University/ Institution/ Board recognized by Govt. Of India/ approved by Govt. Regulatory Bodies and the result should have been declared on or before the date of application.

The candidate needs to mention their authenticate Percentage in specified section taking marks of all subjects studied in a course while applying for IBPS RRB exam 2017.
