About IISER Entrance Exam 2018:

Indian Institute of Science Education and Research conducts Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) or IISER Aptitude Test every year for admissions into 6 IISER institutes in India. The examination allows applicants to pursue a course in Integrated BS-MS dual degree program. Applications for the examination will be available from the 2nd week of May, 2018. IISER 2018 Results

  • Candidates can check IISER SCB channel result through online mode from the official website.
  • Candidates can check their result by entering their email id & password.
  • On the basis of the marks scored the aspiring candidate will be called upon for counselling process. 
  • After the result announcement, the allotment round will be started.

IISER 2018 Aptitude Test

  • Aptitude test for IISER 2018 for the admission for any of the five IISER campuses.
  • There are seven such institutions set by Government of India, at Berhampur, Bhopal, Kolkata, Mohali, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram and Tirupati.
  • The hall ticket for the IISER aptitude test is available for download on the official website.
  • Multiple-choice questions in four subjects – Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology
  • The duration of the IISER aptitude is for 180 minutes.

IISER 2018 Admit Card

  • Candidates need to carry the exam call letter with them while appearing in the examination.
  • The Exam call letter contains information that is necessary for an applicant to be aware of, before appearing in the test such as name, DOB of the candidate, photo, sign of candidate, the name of exam, Day, Date, Time, Duration of the exam, exam centre details, and Examination Instructions.
  • Once the candidate submits IISER Application form, the aspirant can download the Admit Card easily from the official website.
  • There is no type of offline mode to get the above document.
  • Candidates are advised to keep the admit card safe at all times.

Channels for Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER) 2018:

Only through three key channels students can apply for the examination. These three channels are discussed below:

  • Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) Channel

Candidates with a valid fellowship of the current academic session can apply for the examination. Cut-off criteria applicable.

  • Joint Entrance Examination of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT—JEE) Channel

Candidates in General category securing a rank within 10000 in the Common Rank List (CRL) of JEE Advanced 2017 are eligible to apply. For candidates belonging to reserved category (OBCNC, SC, ST, PD), their category rank should be within 10000

Relaxation in qualifying marks:

  • Candidates who score marks equal or more than the cut-off list mentioned below are eligible to apply for the Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER) 2018 test.
  • There is a relaxation of 5 percent for students from OBC-NC and PWD category.
  • Candidates from SC, ST, and Kashmiri migrants the cut-off is 55 percent for all boards in 12th.

News for IISR 2018:

  • The Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER) will refund the Seat Acceptance Fees (SAF) of candidates who have withdrawn their candidature from the Institute.
  • The process of the refund will start from 21 August 2017, onwards.
  • Candidates who have withdrawn their application form from the portal before 26 July 2017, will get their refund deducting 100 rupees as banking charges from SAF of INR 25,000 or 12, 500 from the fourth week of August.

  • IISER opening of application portal: The application portal will be open from the first week of June, 2018 to the last week of June, 2018.
  • IISER first round of allotment of seats: The first round of allotment of seats under the KVPY and JEE Channel will be in the last week of June, 2018.
  • IISER payment of fees for the first round of allotment: The fees should be paid by the second week of July, 2018.
  • IISER Float option: The candidate can exercise the float option in the second week of July, 2018.

Eligibility criteria regarding qualification:

  • The candidates must have passed their 12th standard examination and Bachelor's degree to be eligible.
  • The candidates who are going to appear for their 12th standard examination in the current year are also eligible.

Eligibility criteria regarding Nationality:

  • The candidate should be an Indian National.
  • Candidates who belong to the PIO or OCI category are also eligible.

Eligibility criteria regarding qualifying marks:

  • The General/OBC-NCL category candidates should have at least 55% aggregate marks in the qualifying exam.
  • The SC/ST and PWD category candidates should have at least 50% aggregate marks in the qualifying exam.
  • The marks should not be rounded off. 

IISER 2018 Application Process

  • Official website: The candidates have to go to the official website to download the application form.
  • Registration process: The candidates have to go to the official website and click on the 'IISER application form' link. The candidate has to enter all the required details and submit the form. The candidate has to enter his/her personal, contact, and other details. Once the form has been submitted an SBI payment slip will be generated.
  • Payment: The candidate has to pay the fees and note down the journal number.
  • Verification and uploading documents: The candidate has to verify all the information and upload a scanned image of a passport size photograph. The photo should be in JPG format and the size should be less than 100 kb.
  • Submission: The candidate has to submit the form and then take a print out of the application form.

Examination Fee:

  • The examination fee for the General category candidates is INR 2000/.
  • The examination fee for the Reserved category candidates and the Kashmiri migrants is INR 1000/-

IISER 2018 Admit Card

  • Admit card release date: The admit card will be released in the last week of June 2018.
  • Mandatory document: The IISER admit card is a mandatory document.
  • The admit card can be downloaded from the official website.
  • Details: The admit card contains details such as name, roll number, time of the exam, IISER examination centre, etc.
  • Identity proof: The candidates have to bring their admit card and an identity proof to the exam.
  • OMR sheet: The candidates must enter their Name, Date of birth, etc. in the IISER OMR sheet. The candidate must also sign the answer sheet.
  • Unfair means: The candidate must not adopt any unfair means.
  • Candidates must report to the examination hall by 9:30 am. Candidates will not be allowed inside the hall if late by more than 30 minutes.
  • Candidates are not allowed to leave the examination hall during the Aptitude test.

IISER 2018 Exam Pattern

  • Subjects: The subjects are Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics.
  • Type of questions: There will be multiple choice questions.
  • Marking scheme: For every correct answer three marks will be awarded and for every wrong answer one mark will be deducted.
  • Duration: The exam will be for a duration of 3 hours.
  • Subject wise mark allocation: There will be 15 questions from each subject
  • The number of questions: There will be a total of 60 questions.

Note: 

  • IISER entrance exam 2018 pattern is such that the question paper will contain a total of 60 multiple choice questions that candidates need to complete in a duration of 180 minutes.
  • Candidates will be evaluated out of a total of 180 marks.
  • Candidates will be awarded three marks for each correct answer.
  • There will be negative marking of one mark for each incorrect answer.

  • The syllabus covers the 11th and 12th standard topics.
  • The syllabus for the IISER exam is as follows:
  • Mathematics: The topics are Sets, Relations, and functions, Trigonometric Functions, Inverse Trigonometric Functions, etc.
  • Physics: The topics are Physical World and Measurement, Kinematics, Laws of Motion, Work, Energy, and Power, etc.
  • Chemistry: The topics are Basic Concepts of Chemistry, Structure of Atom, Classification of Elements and Periodicity in Properties, Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure, etc.
  • Biology: The topics are Diversity in the living world, the Structural organization in animals and plants, Cell structure and function, Plant physiology, etc.

Note: The official website informs that IISER entrance exam syllabus "generally follows NCERT syllabus for classes XI and XII".

IISER 2018 Results

  • Result date: The IISER result will be declared in the month of July.
  • Procedure: The candidate has to go to the official website and enter his/her registration number, date of birth and password. The candidate should type the code and click on the submit option. The IISER result will be displayed.
  • Cutoff: The cut-off varies from 67.8% to 95.4%.

 

IISER 2018 Counselling

                                                     Counselling Summary for IISER 2018 

  • The candidates who have cleared the exam and have come under the merit list will be called for the IISER counselling process.
  • JEE Main and KVYP qualifier counselling process: The IISER counselling for JEE Main and KVPY qualifier will be held in the month of June 2018.
  • SCB qualifier counselling process: The IISER counselling for SCB qualifier will be held in the month of July 2018.
  • Counselling results: Once the counselling results are declared the seats will be finalised and the candidates shall be granted admission to the Institute.

There are three different rounds of counselling for IISER admission:

  • First Round: The candidates who have qualified any of KVPY Basic Science Stream or JEE Advanced or IISER Aptitude Test.
  • Second Round: The second round of seat allotment of IISER for SCB candidates.
  • Third Round: The final round of seat allotment for JEE Main candidates.
