Eligibility Criteria for IISER 2018:

  • All candidates who are Indian nationals and belong to Person of Indian Origin (PIO) or Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) category are eligible for IISER 2018 admissions. 
  • There are pre-announced eligibility criteria set by the University. These are obligatory norms which the aspirants must follow before filling the application form for IISER.
  • If candidates eligibility does not fall under the pre-set terms and conditions for eligibility for IISER examination, their application form for IISER examination will be rejected.
  • The candidates are requested to go through the Eligibility Criteria carefully before applying for IISER.

Eligibility Criteria for IISER Admission 2018

Only through three key channels students can apply for the examination. These three channels are discussed below:

  • Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) Channel

Candidates with a valid fellowship of the current academic session can apply for the examination. Cut-off criteria applicable.

  • Joint Entrance Examination of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT—JEE) Channel

Candidates in General category securing a rank within 10000 in the Common Rank List (CRL) of JEE Advanced 2017 are eligible to apply. For candidates belonging to reserved category (OBCNC, SC, ST, PD), their category rank should be within 10000

  • State and Central Boards (SCB) Channel

Candidates who score marks equal or more than the cut-off list mentioned below are eligible to apply for the Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER) 2018 test. There is a relaxation of 5 percent for students from OBC-NC and PWD category.

Students from SC, ST, and Kashmiri migrants the cut-off is 55 percent for all boards in 12th.

  • Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree to satisfy eligibility criteria for IISER.
  • Candidates who are going to clear their 12th examination in the current year are eligible to write IISER.
  • Candidates must have passed their 12th examination to satisfy eligibility criteria for IISER.
  • Indian nationals and students from PIO or OCI category both are eligible to appear in the IISER examination.
  • Candidates belonging to the General/OBC-NCL Category must score at least 55% aggregate marks in the qualifying degree without rounding off to satisfy eligibility criteria for IISER.
  • Candidates belonging to the SC/ST and PWD Category must score 50% aggregate marks in the qualifying degree without rounding off to satisfy eligibility criteria for IISER.
Age
No age limit.
Educational Qualification
Passed 12th in Science stream in 2017/ 2018. Marks score in 12th should be above the cut-off percentage as stipulated by IISER.
Domicile / Reservation
5% relaxation in the cut-off percentage are provided to OBC and PwD categories. Cut-off percentage for SC/ ST/ Kashmiri Migrants (KM) category:- 55% .
