The Indian Maritime University (IMU) was established on 14th November 2008 as a teaching-cum-affiliating university under the AEGIS of the Ministry of Shipping, Government of India, with its headquarters at Chennai.
It was set up to promote maritime studies, research, training and extension with a focus on emerging areas like oceanography, maritime history, maritime security, maritime laws, search and rescue, transportation of dangerous cargo, environmental studies and other related fields, and to achieve excellence in these areas.
There are 7 institutes under IMU; 3 institutes in Mumbai, 2 institutes in Chennai and 2 institutes in Kolkata.
The University has 24 affiliated institutes under it.
IMU CET 2018 is a national level entrance exam for students who want admissions in B.Sc, B.Tech, MBA and M.Tech courses in the Marine field.
The eligible candidates are required to apply for the exam from the online application form available on their official website.
The candidates are required to upload the scanned copies of their signature, photograph and marks card (which is a proof of date of birth).
Aspiring candidates who belong to the reserved category are required to update the caste certificate.
The payment of the exam fee can be done after submitting the application form.
