Introduction to IMU CET 2018:

  • About: IMU CET 2018 is a National level entrance exam conducted for the candidates of India for admissions to the Maritime courses.

  • Application Form Last Date: The last date to fill the application form is May 11, 2018, which is just two days before the last date of filling the SBI PO 2018 Application Form which is on May 13, 2018.
  • Background: The Indian Maritime University has it's headquarters at Chennai and has its regional campuses at Mumbai, Cochin, Visakhapatnam, and Kolkata and the new headquarters building is being worked at 300 acres of land arrive apportioned to IMU at Semmancherry, Chennai which lies in the middle of East Coast Road and Old Mahabalipuram Road.

  • IMU CET Exam Level: IMU CET 2018 is a National level examination conducted by the Indian Maritime University, Chennai.
  • IMU CET 2018 Courses: Candidates can seek admissions for B.ScM.Sc, B.TechM.Tech, BBA and MBA courses in the Marine field. For admissions in various MBA programmes, the candidates can appear for exams like GMAT, MAT etc.

IMU CET 2018 Latest News:

  • Admit Card: IMU CET 2018 Admit Card has been released, Go to the IMU CET Official Website to download the IMU CET 2018 Hall Ticket.

  • Alert: Indian Maritime Univesity has released the application form for BBA and UG/PG courses on their official website. The last day to fill the application form is 11th May 2018 for UG/PG courses and 15th May 2018 for BBA course.

  • Admission to Diploma courses like Nautical Science is open for Sponsered candidates only.

  • About 15% of students are interested in pursuing Nautical courses.


IMU CET 2018 Important Dates:

  • IMU CET 2018 Application Form: Candidate can start applying for Examination from 6th April 2018 and the CET 2018 application process will end on 11th May 2018 for UG/PG course and 15th May 2018 for BBA course.

  • IMU CET 2018 Admit Card: The IMU CET 2018 admit card will be available from 16th May 2018.

IMU CET 2018 Eligibility Criteria:

  • IMU CET 2018 Educational Qualification: For B.Sc, 10+2/ equivalent (PCM-60% and the minimum of 50% marks in English subject in 10th / 12th Examination). In case of SC/ST candidates there will be a 5% relaxation in eligibility marks; however, it will not apply to English marks.

  • IMU CET 2018 Age Limit: The minimum age is 17 years and the maximum age should be 25 years on or before 1st August 2018 (5 years relaxation for reserved candidates), unmarried and physically fit.

 IMU CET 2018 Registration:

  • IMU CET Application Fee: The IMU CET 2018 application fee for applying online is INR 1000 for general candidates and INR 700 for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates.

  • IMU CET 2018 Application Form Mode: Candidates can fill the IMU CET 2018 online application form through official website and should upload their scanned signature, photograph, 10th Mark Sheet and Caste certificate(SC/ST).

IMU CET 2018 Exam Pattern:

  • IMU CET 2018 Exam Mode and Duration: IMU CET 2018 will be held in Online Mode (computer-based) and the duration of exam is 3hrs.

  • Total Questions and Marking Schema: There will be a total of 200 MCQ's and for each correct answer 1 mark will be awarded. There is no negative marking.

IMU CET 2018 Results:

 IMU CET 2018 Counselling:

  • Commencement: IMU CET 2018 counselling starts at 7th June 2018 and includes document verification, physical fitness clearance and so on.

  • Documents: Original documents and certificates should be submitted by candidates during the IMU CET 2018 counselling.

IMU CET 2018 Paper Analysis:

  • Physics Section: Physics section was direct with 50 questions altogether. Questions were not much tedious but rather were minimal dubious. It comprised of questions related to 4 questions on Nuclear Physics, 5 on Energy and Power, 7 on Electrostatics, 5 on Properties of Matter, 9 questions on Laws of Motion and Work, 7 questions on Semiconductor Devices, 8 questions on Current Electricity, 5 questions on Magnetic Effects.

  • Chemistry Section: Chemistry section had 25 questions altogether with direct trouble level. Questions were additional tedious here. Subjects incorporated into this area were: 5 questions on Electrochemistry, 3 on Thermodynamics, 6 on Carbonyl Compounds, 3 on Atomic structure, 4 on Carboxylic Acids, 4 on Chemical Equilibrium.

  • Mathematics Section: Questions in Mathematics section area took up more often than not of the understudies consequently considered as the most troublesome segment. Altogether, it had 50 questions. The topics were of 3 questions on Matrics, 9 on Trigonometry, 7 on Vector Algebra, 3 on Differential Calculus, 5 on Differential Equations,6 on Probability Distributions, 4 on Integral Calculus, 6 on Discrete Mathematics, 7 on Series Completion.

  • English Section: English Section was considered as the most effortless by the competitors. It was slightest tedious. The segment contained 25 questions altogether. Topics covered were: 2 questions on Passage Completion, 7 on Error Correction, 8 on Cloze Test, 8 questions on Comprehension Passage i.e. 2 passages with 4 questions each.

  • Aptitude Section: Aptitude Section was the trickiest segment of the exam included 25 questions altogether. Different subjects covered were: 5 questions on Series completion, 3 on Blood Relations, 4 on Directions, 5 on Puzzles, 4 on Data sufficiency, 4 on Arrangements.

  • General Knowledge Section: General knowledge area tested the General Awareness of the applicant and had 25 questions altogether contained different topics as 5 questions on Business News, 4 on International News and 8 on National News.

IMUCET 2018 Eligibility

IMU CET 2018 Eligibility Summary:

  • Age Limit: The Candidates will have to be of minimum 17 years of age and the maximum age limit is 25 years on or before August 2018 and the candidates who are currently married cannot apply for the IMU CET 2018 examination.

  • Documents Required: The candidates applying for the IMU CET 2018 examination must have a Passport as one of the Mandatory documents, if not the Candidates are advised to apply for their passport beforehand for the IMU CET 2018 examination. Also, Documents showing proof of identity should also be in hand of the Candidate Applying.

  • Education Qualification: Candidates who want to seek admission in any of the marine courses must provide medical fitness certificate from any of the doctors approved by the Director General of Shipping to satisfy the eligibility criteria for IMU CET 2018. Candidates should also have a Qualifying degree from any known University to fit the eligibility criteria, also candidates, who are presently appearing for the qualifying exam on or before 31st May 2018 are also eligible to take the IMU CET 2018 exam.

IMU CET 2018 Counselling Summary:

Counselling Date: 

  • Candidates who are shortlisted for the online counselling program of IMU CET 2018 must register themselves for the counselling process, at the official website of the University. 

  • The registration for counselling session will begin from the 2nd Week of June and will stay open until the last week of June 2018.

Nowadays IMUCET is the examination held to take admission in IMU courses. For admission in Kolkata campus which is best of India, you need rank within top 600 if you are in general.

A student who passes his/her 10+2 exams and takes up any stream for further studies spends at least another 4 years in college before becoming eligible for a job in the particular stream.
