Overview of MGU CAT:

MGU CAT stands for Mahatma Gandhi University Common Admission Test. The university is situated in the Central Kerala District of Kottayam and is affiliated to the University of Kerala.

The MGU CAT test is conducted in order to accept admission into its various postgraduate programs. Every year applications are invited from all across the country for admission into the Postgraduate programs in the Statutory Teaching Departments and Inter School Centre of the University. The admission process of the candidate will be done through a Centralized Allotment Process.

The admissions based on CAT-MGU will be through a Centralized Allotment Process. There will be separate Entrance Tests for the various academic programs offered in the different Schools of the University. The candidates need to register only one application(online) for opting a maximum of 4 academic programs/ cluster of programs based on their eligibility. If a candidate submits more than one application in CAT MGU his/ her candidature is liable to be canceled. It is a simple and transparent process of allotment which gives the candidate opportunity to exercise the options of his/her choice conveniently in the order of preference. The allotments will be strictly based on the options exercised, the rank obtained and eligible reservations of the candidate.

All candidates except foreign students seeking admission shall attend the Entrance Test. The Common Entrance Test is of 90 minutes duration for all the programs. The test will comprise of objective type multiple choice questions for all the PG programs except for the PG Programmes in School of Letters, School of Indian Legal Thought and School of Tourism Studies for which both multiple choice questions and descriptive type question will be asked.
