What is NEET?

  • NEET [National Eligibility cum entrance exam] is a single eligible entrance examination for students who wish to study any graduate medical course(MBBS/BDS) in government or private medical colleges in India.
  • NEET is conducted by CBSE[Central Board of Secondary Education] every year.
  • Candidates can take admission in various Medical/Dental Colleges run with the approval of Medical Council of India/Dental Council of India under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare except for the institutions established by an Act of Parliament i.e. AIIMS and JIPMER Puducherry.
  • All India Pre-Medical Test(AIPMT) and all individual MBBS exams conducted by states or colleges themselves were replaced by NEET-UG(undergraduate) in 2013.
  • All admissions to MBBS/BDS courses within the respective categories shall be based solely on marks obtained in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test. 
  • CBSE is only responsible for the conduct of the entrance test, declaration of result and providing All India Rank to the Directorate-General of Health Services, New Delhi for counselling of 15% All India Quota Seats and providing the result to the State Counselling Authorities and Admitting Institutions.
  • The Central Board of Secondary Education announces the results and the All India Merit List for NEET UG. The merit list and the wait-list are prepared as per the directives of the Supreme Court of India, DGHS, MCI, and DCI.
  • Admissions to all seats of MBBS/BDS courses will be done through NEET-UG only.                                                                               

All the medical seats availed by the board can be classified in the following categories: -

  • All India Quota Seats
  • State Government Quota Seats
  • State/Private/Management/NRI Quota seats in all Private Medical/ Deemed University
  • Central Pool Quota Seats.

Introduction to NEET 2018:

  • Candidates can apply for NEET-UG application form through online mode only.
  • Candidates are allowed a maximum of 3 attempts to appear for the NEET exam. 
  • No offline applications are entertained.
  • NEET(UG) 2018 will be held in single stage level exam.
  • NEET 2018 is an objective type test.
  • Last NEET (2017) entrance exam was held on 7th May and results were declared on 23rd May
  • Online application for NEET 2018 will be available only, on NEET official website.
  • The Application form for NEET 2018 will be available from 31st January 2018 till 1st March 2018
  • CBSE will issue admit card to the candidates who applied for the NEET 2018 on 2nd April 2018.
  • The result of NEET 2018 declares on 4th June 2018.
  • After the declaration of result the, the process of counseling starts from 2nd July 2018.
  • The NEET-UG for the year 2018 is scheduled on exam 6th May 2018.
  • The Syllabus for NEET 2018 exam consists of topics covered under Physics, Chemistry, and Biology(Reference Books is available on our website).

 NEET 2018 NEWS:

  • According to Veterinary Council of India from the merit list of NEET will be for allocation of seats to the recognized Veterinary Colleges for admission to BVSc and AH course under 15% All India Quota during 2017-18.
  • Madras High Court has stayed MCI's order of canceling admission in Puducherry's seven private medical colleges and deemed universities through NEET.
  • A trust has been formed by the alumni of IIT Madras and NIT Trichy to provide support for the rural students by providing a 6-month full-time residential program to train them for NEET 2018 examination.
  • The supreme court of India granted permission to conduct NEET Examination also in the medium of Urdu from the next academic session.

NEET 2018 Schedule:

  • The NEET 2018 Examination will be held on 6th May 2018.
  • The online Application form for NEET 2018 will be available from 31st January 2018. 
  • CBSE will issue Admit cards to the candidates who applied for the NEET 2018 on 2nd April 2018.
  • The Result of NEET 2018 will be declared on 4th June 2018
  • After the declaration of NEET 2018 result, the counseling process will start from 2nd July 2018

NEET 2018 Eligibility

  • The applicants must satisfy the eligibility criteria in order to register for NEET 2018. 
  • The number of attempts which a candidate can avail at NEET 2018 examination shall be limited to three.
  • Minimum educational qualification required to be eligible for NEET 2018 depends on reservation category.
  • Candidates completed the age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete the age on or before 31st December of the year admission to the 1styear MBBS/BDS Course.
  • The upper age limit for NEET is 25 years as on the date of examination with a relaxation of 5 years for candidates belonging to OBC/SC/ST category.

NEET 2018 Application Form

  • Candidates should fill-up the NEET 2018 online form and pay fee well in advance to avoid last hour rush on the server.
  • Candidates must ensure that mobile numbers, e-mail ID filled in the NEET 2018 online Application form are their own or their parents.
  • The last date to submit the NEET 2018 Application form is 1st March 2018. 
  • Aadhaar number is required for submission of Application Form of NEET 2018.
  • NEET 2018 Application fee payment can be made through Credit Card/Debit Card, Net Banking/UPI or E-wallet of Common Services Centre and other service providers.
  • Confirmation page confirms that NEET 2018 application has been submitted successfully.

NEET 2018 Exam Center

  • NEET 2018 examination center will cover all the major cities in India.
  • All the candidates should select three convenient city codes for the NEET 2018 entrance test.
  • Allotment of NEET 2018 exam center is made by Computer and there is no human intervention.
  • Candidates must ensure that they should select the NEET 2018 exam center in their state of residence or in the neighboring city only and not in far away cities.
  • Under no circumstances, the choice of exam center cities filled in the application form by the candidates and the allotted center shall be changed by the NEET 2018 Board.

NEET 2018 Exam Pattern

  • NEET 2018 examination consists of 180 questions and a total of 720 marks.
  • A total of 45 question will be asked from each subject in NEET 2018 exam. 
  • In NEET 2018 for every Right answer, the Candidate would be awarded 4 marks.
  • For every wrong answer, 1 mark would be deducted in NEET 2018 exam. 
  • Candidates are advised to have a detailed knowledge about NEET 2018 exam pattern.

NEET 2018 Syllabus

  • NEET 2018 examination Board will test the knowledge of students in subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
  • NEET 2018 Syllabus PDF helps to have a quick reference copy of complete examination syllabus.
  • The Biology Syllabus of NEET 2018 has been divided into two subjects those are Zoology and Botany.
  • NEET 2018 Exam syllabus consists of questions from class 11th and 12th CBSE Syllabus.

NEET 2018 Result

  • Candidates should visit the NEET 2018 official website to see the result.
  • NEET 2018 results will declare on 4th June 2018.
  • To check NEET 2018 results candidates just have to enter the enrollment number given on the admit card.
  • After entering NEET 2018 register number then click on submit to see the result.

  • The candidate can choose the language in which they desire to write the NEET-UG exam.

Important note: 

  • Once the language option has opted, later no changes can be made.                                                         
  • In the case of any ambiguity in translation of any of the questions, its English version shall be treated as final.
  • Candidates can opt the question paper language is following languages:

  • Candidates opting for vernacular languages would be provided Bilingual Test Booklet i.e. in the selected language and in English.

Instructions to be followed by a candidate during NEET 2018 examination.

  • Examination Centres will be opened 2 hours and 30 minutes before the commencement of the NEET 2018  test.
  • No candidate shall be allowed to enter the examination centre After 09:30 AM.
  • Candidates are therefore requested to leave home well in advance considering all facts like traffic, the location of the centre and weather conditions, etc.
  • A seat with a roll number will be allotted to each candidate. Candidates must find out and occupy their allotted seats.
  • Candidates are not allowed to carry any material except the admit card and photographs inside the examination hall.
  • Candidates are not allowed to bring any barred item or any item which could be used for any unfair means. Possession of any such article with the candidates inside the center premises will attract the penalties of unfair practices.
    No candidate will leave his/her seat or the examination room/hall until the test concludes as per schedule. Candidates should not leave the room/hall without handing over their answer sheets to the invigilator on duty.
  • If a candidate is found appearing in the Test from a seat or room other than the allotted one to him/her, his/her candidature shall be cancelled.
  • Candidates are advised to take their seats immediately after the opening of the Examination Hall.
  • The candidate must show, on demand, the Admit Card for admission in the Examination Hall.
  • Any candidate who does not possess a valid Admit Card, that particular candidate shall not be admitted to the Examination Hall under any circumstances by the Centre Superintendent.
  • The Candidate must report with online downloaded admit card and with proforma which is an attachment of admit card with a post Card Size Photograph duly affixed on it, at the allotted Examination Centre.
  • During the examination time, the invigilator will check Admit Card of the candidates to satisfy himself/herself about the identity of each candidate.
  • The invigilator will also put his/her signatures in the place provided in the Answer Sheet on SIDE-1.
  • The candidate must sign twice on the Attendance Sheet at the appropriate place, first: immediately after the commencement of examination and second: while handing over the Answer Sheet to the invigilator
  • The candidates are also required to put their finger impressions in the space provided on the attendance sheet.
  • The candidate will check and ensure that the Test-Booklet contain as many numbers of pages as are written on the top of the cover page.
  •  A candidate who appears after 9.30 AM, he/she shall not be permitted to enter the examination center.
  • Water Bottles, Tea, coffee, cold drinks or snacks etc. are not allowed to be taken by the candidates to the examination hall.

NEET 2018 Important Dates

Important dates summary for NEET 2018:

  • The application form for NEET 2018 would be available from #application_from_date on the official website.
  • The candidates would have to submit the application form for NEET 2018 before 1st March 2018.
  • The examination conducting authority will not accept any applications sent to post the last date for submitting the application form.
  • The candidates are required to pay the application fees before the end of February.
  • The candidates who fail to pay the fees before the stipulated time would have their registration cancelled.
  • The admit card would be available for download starting from 2nd April 2018. It is mandatory for the registered candidates to carry the Admit card with them to the exam centre. 
  • The NEET 2018 exam will be tentatively conducted around 6th May 2018.
  • The Exam would be conducted in two batches, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon
  • The NEET 2018 results would be declared tentatively around 4th June 2018.
  • The candidates would have to check the CBSE or NEET website to check their results.
  • After the NEET 2018 results are declared, the students who have cleared the exam are eligible for attending the counselling session before they are eligible for admissions.
  • The Counselling would be done tentatively around 2nd July 2018.

NEET 2018 Eligibility

Eligibility summary for NEET 2018:

  • Age Limit for NEET 2018: The candidates applying for NEET 2018 should be above 17 years of age, but below 25 years of age at the time of admission or as on the 31st of December of the year in which they are answering the exam. 
  • Nationality: The Indian National, Non-Resident Indian, Overseas Citizen of India or a Foreign National candidates are eligible for NEET 2018.
  • Education Qualification: The candidate must have completed their class 12 examination or equivalent from a recognized Board/University.
  • Compulsory Subjects for Eligibility: The candidate must have studied in their 10+2 level the subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, English, and Mathematics or any other optional subject compulsorily.
  • 85% State Quota: The candidate must submit the proof of Residency and the Domicile Status certificate of the respective state to avail this quota.

Cut Offs for NEET 2018: 

  • The General category candidate must have secured a minimum of 50% in the subjects mentioned above.
  • If the Candidate is Physically Challenged and belongs to the general category, they would have to secure a minimum of 45% in the subjects mentioned above.
  • If the candidate is Physically Challenged and belongs to the OBC/SC/ST category, they are required to secure a minimum of 40% in the subjects mentioned above.
  • If the candidate belongs to SC/ST/OBC category, they should secure a minimum of 40% in the subjects mentioned above.

NEET 2018 Application Process

NEET 2018 Application Form Details

NEET 2018 Admit Card Content:

  • Candidate’s personal and academic details uploaded scanned images of photograph, signature, and the exam related information. 
  • The card also includes the Question Paper Language opted by the candidate, exam centre address and General Rules/Instructions to be followed during NEET 2018. Examination.

Download NEET 2018 Admit Card:

  • Visit the official CBSE/NEET website.
  • The candidates have to go to the "Admit Card" option on the portal. The candidate would then be redirected to their login.
  • After the details for login such as Registration Number and Date of Birth are entered, the candidates will be redirected to their Admit Card.
  • The candidate must then download the Admit Card and carry the same to the Examination Centre.

Important Notes:

  • The candidate would not be allowed to appear for the NEET 2018 if they don't carry their NEET 2018, Admit Card.
  • The candidate must not Tamper with their NEET 2018 Admit Card. This would make their Admit Card invalid and they won't be allowed to take the exam.
  •  Plagiarising the NEET 2018 Admit Card is a punishable offense and the candidates found doing this illegal activity would be disqualified and will be punished accordingly.

  • The NEET 2018 would be a Multiple Choice Question type of examination.

Qualifying Marks:

  • General Category: The candidates belonging to General Category would have to score a minimum of 50% or 360 marks to qualify.
  • General Category Physically Handicapped:  The candidates belonging to General Category and are physically handicapped would have to secure a minimum of 45% or 324 marks to qualify.
  • Reserved Category:  SC/ST/OBC category would have to secure a minimum of 40% or 288 marks to qualify.
  • Reserved Category Physically Handicapped: The candidates belonging to the Reserved Category and are physically Handicapped would have to secure a minimum of 40% or 288 marks to qualify.

NEET 2018 Syllabus

  • The Syllabus for the NEET 2018 Exam would consist of questions from the topics of Physics, Chemistry and Biology studied across class 11 and 12 of CBSE Syllabus.

NEET 2018 Counselling

Counselling summary for NEET 2018:

The candidates would be eligible for admission on the basis of the marks or rank they secure in their NEET 2018.

The Counselling process would have 2 rounds.The following events take place in the two rounds of counselling:

First Round:

  • The candidates who clear the cut-off will have to register with the counselling body.
  • The candidates have to fill in their preferred  Medical/Dental college for admissions and lock it by saving their choices.

Second Round:

  • The second round of Counselling is an up-gradation of colleges the candidates have selected in round 1.
  • In round 2, the candidates need not register or submit their choices again. 
  • Based on the choice of colleges the candidate has made in the first round, the seats would be allotted by processing the choices.
