Introduction to NIFT 2018:

  • About: The National Institute Of Fashion Technology (NIFT) was set up in the year 1986 under the aegis of Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. NIFT is the spearheading Institue of Fashion Education in the nation and has been in the vanguard of giving proficient human Resource to the Textile and Apparel industry

  • Grandiosity: NIFT has 16 Campuses which Provide Students with a foundation in Fashion Technology Education. It was made a statutory establishment in 2006 by an Act of the Indian Parliament with the President of India as 'Guest' and has undeniable Campuses all over the nation.

  • Level: NIFT is a National Level Entrance Examination Conducted for the Admissions of Both UG and PG Design Courses.

  • Admissions: The pen and paper-based test will be conducted for admissions to a total of 2,370 seats across for Bachelor of Design and Bachelor of Fashion Technology programmes.

  • Frequency: NIFT is usually Conducted Once a year usually in the month of February.

  • Authority: The National Institute Of Fashion Technology has the Complete Rights for Conducting the NIFT 2018 Examination and Allocating the Seats for Eligible Students.

NIFT 2018 Important Dates/Schedules:

  • Application Form: NIFT 2018 Application form commences on 27th October 2017  to 29th December 2017 and the Applied Candidates can Fill the Application Form on the Official Website.

  • Examination: NIFT 2018 Exam will be conducted on 21st January 2018 for the Applied Candidates.

NIFT 2018 Eligibility:

  • Qualification: For NIFT 2018 UG course, Candidate must be passed 10+2 Examination from any Recognized state board or central board such as CBSE, CISCE, etc. and For NIFT 2018 PG course, Candidate should have B.Des or B.F.Tech degree from any of the recognized institution.

  • Age Limit: Age limit for NIFT 2018 UG courses is that the Candidate should be less 23 years. For PG courses, there is no age limit.

NIFT 2018 Application Form:

  • Application Dates: The application form for NIFT 2018 has been started from 27th October 2017 in online mode only and ends on 21st January 2018.

  • Payment: The candidates have to pay the application form fees, the Application fee is INR 1000 (General/OBC category) and INR 750 (SC/ST/PWD categories).

NIFT 2018 Exam Pattern:

  • Pattern: There will be total 100 questions in GAT for B.Des, 120 questions will be asked for M.Des., and 150 questions will be asked in B.F.Tech, MFM & M.F.Tech. in NIFT 2018 exam. NIFT 2018 Examination is Pen-paper based exam. The exam will be conducted in offline mode. 
  • Time Duration: The duration of GAT written test will be 2 hours (for B.Des & M.Des) and 3 hours (for B.F.Tech, MFM & M.F.Tech).

NIFT 2018 Admit Card:

  • Download: The candidates who filled the NIFT 2018 application form Successfully, they can download the admit card from the official website. The NIFT 2018 admit card will be available from 9th January 2018.

  • Credentials: The candidates should have to enter Application Number, Date of Birth, and Email ID to download the admit card.

NIFT 2018 Exam Center:

  • No of test centers: There are a total of 32 centers across India conducting NIFT 2018 exam.
  • Preference: Candidates need to choose their exam center while applying for NIFT 2018 according to their preference.

NIFT 2018 Exam Syllabus:

  • General Ability: NIFT 2018 General Ability test(GAT) includes the topics such as Quantitative ability, Logical ability, General awareness, English comprehension, and vocabulary.

  • Creative Ability: NIFT 2018 Creative Ability test includes design ability, discernment ability, and others. The test comprises of 5 sections

NIFT 2018 Results:

  • Result-Date: The result of NIFT 2018 declares few weeks after the exam. The result of NIFT 2018 will be declared on 22nd March 2018.

  • Credentials: The candidates are required to enter their Roll No, Date of Birth, and Application Number to download the results for NIFT 2018.

NIFT 2018 Counselling:

  • Merit List: Candidates for B.F.Tech will be selected on the basis of ranks obtained by the candidates in NIFT 2018.

  • Date: The NIFT 2018 Counselling will commence from 4th June 2018. The shortlisted applicants can log into the official website and check their counselling dates.

NIFT 2018 Important Dates

NIFT 2018 Important Dates Summary:

  • Commencement of online registration: The NIFT online application process will generally commence in 27th October 2017 

  • Last date of online registration. The last date of online registration without late fee is 29th December 2017. However, the last date of online registration with the late fee of INR 5000 is 16th January.

  • Availability of admit card: The admit card will be made available from 9th January 2018 onwards.

  • NIFT exam date: The NIFT exam will be held on 21st January 2018.

  • Situation test/GD/ Interview for NIFT: The NIFT situation test/group discussion/interview will usually take place in the month of April and May.

  • NIFT result date: The NIFT results are usually declared on 22nd March 2018.

  • Counseling session: The counselling sessions are usually in 4th June 2018.

NIFT 2018 Eligibility

NIFT 2018 Eligibility Summary:

Eligibility Criteria for UG programs:

  • Eligibility Criteria for Bachelor of Design: The applicant should not cross 23 years of age as on 1st October 2016. However, there is a relaxation of 5 years on the maximum age limit for SC/ST/ Physically handicapped persons. The candidate should have passed 12th grade from a recognized board in order to be eligible for NIFT exam.

Eligibility Criteria for PG programs:

  • Eligibility Criteria for M.Des and M.F.M: The candidate must hold a minimum of 3 years diploma in Undergraduate design from NIFT/NID or they must possess an Undergraduate degree from a recognized institute.

  • Eligibility Criteria for M.F.Tech: The candidate must hold a B.Tech/B.E from a recognized institute or a B.F.Tech from NIFT.

NIFT 2018 for Foreign candidates:

  • Categorie: They have the flexibility to opt for as many SAT/ GMAT/ GRE tests before April 30, 2018. Such candidates who are seeking admission under the Foreign Nationals and NRI category in NIFT are mandated to apply through the official website. The last date to apply in NIFT would be April 30, 2018.

  • Degree certificate: They also need to obtain equivalent certificates of their foreign degrees from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi, prior to admission in NIFT

NIFT 2018 Application Process

NIFT 2018 Application Process Summary:

  • Candidates can fill application form of NIFT from the first week of November 2018 to the second week of January 2018.

  • The application fee of NIFT 2018  has to be paid through online payment gateway or through bank demand draft issued in favour of “NIFT HO” payable at New Delhi.

  • Fee for General/OBC (Non-Creamy) Category- INR 1500 through payment gateway or demand draft.

  • Fee for SC/ST/PHP Category- INR 750 through payment gateway or Demand Draft.

Candidates applying for NIFT 2018 through demand draft are required to send the printout of the NIFT 2018 application form, duly completed in all respect, along with the demand draft to the following address:

  • Mode of Application: The mode of application for NIFT is online. Applicants must go on the NIFT official website in order to register for the exam.

  • Application fee: The NIFT application fee is INR 1,500 for General/OBC candidates. For SC/ST/PHP candidates, the application fee is INR 750. In case of online registration with the late fee, it would amount to INR 5,000.

  • Mode of Payment of application fee: The application fee can be paid either online or through Demand Draft.

Guidelines regarding admit card:

  • Candidates must ensure that their details on the admit card are correct. In case of any discrepancies, the candidate must contact the concerned authority.
  • Candidates must carry the NIFT 2018 admit card along with a valid photo ID to the exam centre failing which the candidate will not be allowed to enter the exam hall.

NIFT 2018 Exam Pattern

NIFT 2018 Exam Pattern Summary:

  • Main Purpose: This is the process where you get to know the scenario and the Blue Print of the exam pattern.

  • Exam Pattern:  It consists of different section and details about the mode of examination and questions pattern for NIFT 2018.

  • The NIFT exam is in offline mode.

  • The exam has 2 parts i.e GAT and CAT.

  • The exam will be held for 2 hours and it will contain 150 questions.

  • Shortlisted candidates for NIFT B.Des from the written entrance examination are required to take a situation test.

  • The question paper will be in English and there will be no negative marking.

NIFT 2018 Counselling

NIFT 2018 Counseling Summary:

  • Counselling session will be held for those candidates who qualify for the exam.

  • Candidates must carry the required documents and certificates for the counselling process failing which the admission will get cancel.

  • The counselling session will consist of 2 rounds. One is the GD round and the other is the Personal interview round.

The Union Bank of India provides pre-sanctioned loans for all candidates who qualify for NIFT admission.
