Eligibility Criteria for SBI PO 2018

It is Compulsory for the applicants to gratify all the eligibility conditions before applying for SBI PO registration process. The Applicants should clear lower age limit and Educations to be eligible for SBI PO exam.

  • The candidate must be an Indian National to be eligible for SBI Probationary Officer Recruitment.
  • Candidates who have a complaint against them regarding character, moral accuse, a complaint regarding repayment of loans are not eligible to apply for the post.
  • At any stage, if a candidate is found ineligible for the exam, will be disqualified from further rounds of SBI PO recruitment process.

Educational Eligibility:

  • It is mandatory to possess a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized University or from the central government.
  • Candidates who are pursuing education and are in their final semester or final year may apply.
  • But candidates will have to produce a proof of having passed in graduation on or before August 31, 2018.  

 The Age Eligibility criteria the candidates have to satisfy are given as follows:


Relaxation in Age

Scheduled Caste (SC) / Scheduled Tribe (ST)

5 Years

Other Backward Class (Non-Creamy Layer)

3 Years

Persons with Disabilities (PWD)

PwD (Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe): 15 Years


(Other Backward Class): 13 Years


(General): 10 Years

Ex-Servicemen, Commissioned Officers including Emergency Commissioned Officers (ECOs), Short Service Commissioned Officers (SSCOs) who have worked for not less than 5 years in military and have left on conclusion of project

Pertaining to the VH/OH candidates who suffer from above 40 percent disability must have the relevant certificate issued by the Medical Board of Central Government of India.

Candidates having locomotor disability or cerebral palsy amounting to a minimum 40% disability are eligible to apply under:

  • BL: both legs affected but not the arms
  • OA: only one arm affected with impaired reach, weakness in grip and ataxia
  • OL: only one leg affected
  • MW: muscular weakness with limited physical endurance.

For visually handicapped candidates, those with these cases will be eligible to apply for SBI PO 2018:

  • Total absence of light
  • Visual acuity not exceeding 6/60 or 20/200 (Snellen) in the better eye corrected by lens
  • Limitation of the field of vision to 20 degrees or less

Candidates having Integrated Dual Degree (IDD) certificate should ensure that the date of passing the IDD is on or before 31st August 2018.

Candidates possessing the qualifications of a Chartered Accountant may also apply for SBI PO 2018.

Note: The date of passing eligibility exam will be the date appearing on the mark sheet or provisional certificate issued by the University/Institute.

Eligibility for use of Allowance of Copyist(Scribe)

Candidates belonging to PWD categories, the SBI authorities provide the assistance of a Copyist. Some additional time is also offered, keeping in mind the disadvantage that such candidates face compared to other test takers.

The Copyist will be provided to a candidate who has a physical disability of 40% or more if it is desired by the person. This assistance is available to only those candidates with the disability who have physical limitation to write including that of speed.

In all instances where a copyist is used, the following will be applicable:

  • Candidates who meet the eligibility requirements for a copyist and who wish to make use of such services in the examination must carefully indicate the same in the online application form.
  • A suitable undertaking, in the prescribed format at the time must be submitted at the time of online examination.
  • A compensatory time of 20 minutes for every hour of the examination will be available to such candidates, irrespective of him availing the scribe facility.
  • The candidate must arrange their own copyist at their own cost.

A reminder for the Applicants about the Eligibility of SBI PO 2018

  • The Final Date of the Eligibility of the Candidates is the date which is given on the marks sheet or provisional certificate of the Candidate issued by the authority
  • Where CGPA or OGPA is awarded, the score should be converted to Percentage and presented in the application form.
  • If the result of the particular exam is posted on the official website of the University, a certificate issued by the Authority showing the date on which the result was posted will be considered as the date of passing.
  • If the candidate is called for the Interview, candidate should produce a certificate issued by the authority stating the standards of University regarding the conversion of grades into Percentage and percentage of marks scored by the candidates in terms of Standard mentioned
  • The fraction of percentage so arrived is ignored i.e. 59.99% is treated as less than 60% and 54.99% is treated as less than 55%
  • While calculating the marks of a candidate, total scores are calculated irrespective of honors, optional or additional optional subjects, if any.

What is the age limit for SBI PO 2017 exam?

The minimum age eligibility is 21 years and the maximum is 30 years as on 01/04/2017. This basically means that the candidates must have been born not earlier than 02/04/1987 and not later than 01/04/1996(both days inclusive).

In the official notification,there is no such mention of any percentage requirement.

You just need to fill out the percentage obtained in graduation nearest two decimals in the online application.

In case your college/university awards CGPA/OGPA, the same should be converted into percentage and indicated in online application.

No, you are not.

The age limit for applicants is 21 – 30 yrs as on the 1st of April of the year.
