  • Sam Higginbottom Institute Of Agriculture, Technology And Sciences had been set up as an educational institution of Christian Minority as described under Article 30(1) of the Indian Constitution.
  • The institution conducts an annual entrance examination—popularly abbreviated as SHIAT-EE, for admission to its courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Foreign candidates and NRI students are exempt from taking the entrance examination.
  • There are several post graduate diploma courses too for which candidates can take SHIAT 2018 exam.
  • SHIATS 2018 entrance exam will be conducted in English and Hindi for undergraduate courses.
  • The examination will be conducted in English alone for entrance to post-graduate courses.

The entrance test will be held on 31st May 2018 for UG courses. The timing is 9-11 am.

  • For B.Ed, M.Ed and PG courses, the date is the same. The timing is 2-4 pm.
  • B.Ed and M.Ed applicants will get an additional ½ an hour time for writing their papers.
  • B.PEd entrance exam will be conducted in July 2018.

SHIAT 2018 Important Dates

  • SHIAT submission of application form: The SHIAT-EE form has to be submitted by 3rd January 2018 
  • SHIAT Payment: The deadline for payment receipt is May 2018.
  • SHIAT admit card: The SHIAT admit card will be released on 8th May 2018 
  • SHIAT result: The SHIAT result will be declared on 20th June 2018 
  • SHIAT counseling date: The SHIAT counseling process will be conducted on 3rd July 2018

SHIAT 2018 Eligibility

  • Reservation of seats: 50% of the total seats are reserved for Christian candidates. The rest of the seats are for the General and reserved category candidates. In addition to this 15% of the UG seats and 25% of the PG seats are reserved for the candidates sitting for the ICAR conducted all-India entrance examination.
  • Eligibility criteria regarding education: The candidates should have passed their 10+2 examination from a recognised board with minimum 50% marks. 45% for the SC/ST/OBC and physically handicapped candidates. Candidates appearing for the 10+2 examination are also eligible.
  • Eligibility criteria regarding qualification required for the postgraduate course: The candidates should have a bachelor's degree from a recognised university. They should have minimum 50% marks in the particular stream. (45% for scheduled caste, scheduled tribe, other backward classes and physically handicapped candidates). Candidates who are in their final year of graduation are also eligible.
  • Eligibility criteria regarding the B.Ed course: The candidates should have minimum 50% marks in either the Bachelor's or master's degree with two school subjects as part of their graduate study. The candidate has to teach 20 lessons/2 years from any of the two Date from the list given Hindi, History, Commerce, English, Geography, Home Science, Science, Civics, Agriculture, Economics, Biology or Mathematics.
  • Eligibility criteria regarding the M.Ed course: The candidate must have a B.Ed degree with minimum 55% marks aggregate.
  • Eligibility criteria regarding the B.PEd course: The candidate must be a graduate in any stream with physical education as an elective. The candidate should have had minimum 45% marks and should have participated in the all-India inter-university competition.

SHIAT 2018 Application Process

  • Procedure: The candidate can fill the form online or offline. The candidate must fill in all the personal and academic details and then check the form once before submitting the form. The form is available offline between Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm.
  • Application fees: For the UG courses, the challan generated will be for Rs. 1200. For the PG courses, the challan generated will be for Rs. 1400. The challan should be deposited after taking a print out at any Punjab National Bank or Axis Bank branches across the country. Candidates can pay the application fees online via SBI Collect, online banking or debit/credit card. A challan copy with the candidate's photograph should be sent to the registrar's office. The application fees have to be paid via a crossed bank draft to the following address: -

SHIAT 2018 Application Form Details

  • The fee with prospectus is Rs. 450 for General and reserved category candidates for those requesting it via post.
  • The fee for those willing to buy it from the college campus is Rs. 400.
  • The form can be filled online through the official website. The candidates need to pay the fees using an online generated challan.
  • Demand draft: The draft must be in favor of SHIATS; payable at Allahabad.
  • Cash payment can also be made.

SHIAT 2018 Admit Card

  • Mandatory document: The SHIAT EE admit card is a mandatory document and should be brought to the exam.
  • Procedure: The candidates have to download the admit card from the official website. They have to enter their form number and then click on the "get admit card" option. The candidates have to download and print the admit card. The admit card must be preserved until the end of the admission process
  • Plagiarizing: The admit card must not be mutilated. Plagiarizing of the admit card is a punishable offense.
  • Non-availability of admit card: The candidates should check the details and in case of any inconsistency or non-availability of the admit card the candidate should contact the conducting body immediately.

SHIAT 2018 Exam Pattern

  • Number of questions to be attempted: The candidates should attempt a total of 150 questions from UG-1 or UG-2.
  • Undergraduate Booklet UG-1: UG-1 consists of the PCM/PCB/PCMB/HBC subject groups.
  • Total number of questions: There are a total of 150 questions.
  • Compulsory sections: The General Aptitude section is a compulsory section and has 60 questions.
  • Optional sections: The optional sections are Physics, Mathematics, Biology, Home Science and Chemistry. Each section has 30 questions. The candidates must attempt any three subjects as per their qualifying examination and subject group.
  • Undergraduate Booklet UG-2: UG-2 consists of the AGRI/ARTS/COM subject groups.
  • Total number of questions: There are a toal of 150 questions.
  • Compulsory section: The General Aptitude section is a compulsory section and has 60 questions.
  • Optional sections: The optional sections are Agriculture, Arts and Commerce. Each section has 90 questions. Candidates are required to attempt any one subject from the optional subjects.
  • Test booklets for Postgraduate Programmes: The candidates have to attempt a total of 160 questions. The candidates appearing for the B. Ed. and M.Ed. programmes are required to attempt a total of 200 questions. (150 questions from PG Section and 40 questions from additional section; B.Ed. Section, M.Ed. Section as per their qualifying examination and choice filled in the application form).
  • PG Booklet: The PG Booklet consists of the AGRI/HSC/BIO/ABF/SCI/OTH/ETE subject groups.
  • Compulsory section: The compulsory section is the General Aptitude section which consists of 60 questions.
  • Optional section: The optional sections are AGRI/HSC/BIO/ABF/SCI/OTH/ETE. Each section consists of 90 questions.
  • Additional sections: The B.Ed. section consists of the Teaching Aptitude exam which has 50 questions. The M.Ed. section consists of the Teaching Management exam which has 50 questions.
  • Medium: The exam will be conducted in English and Hindi for the Undergraduate programmes. The exam will be conducted in English only for the Postgraduate programmes.
  • Negative marking: 1 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.

SHIAT 2018 Results

  • Official site: The candidates can visit the official website and check their result. There will be separate lists for Christians and Non-Christians. The candidate has to select the correct program and enter the form number to access the result. The candidates should print and save the result.
  • The results will be declared on the campus notice boards There will be separate lists for Christians and Non-Christians. NRIs and foreign candidates will have a separate merit list.
  • Merit list: There will be separate merit lists under each category. The lists will be updated based on the results.
  • Provisional admission: Candidates will be given provisional admission into only one program, based on the results.

SHIAT 2018 Counselling

  • Procedure: The institute will release call letters on the website. The counseling will be based on the marks obtained by the candidates. The candidate has to download the call letter. All the original documents and identity documents should be carried to the counseling process. In case the documents are not ready then the candidate will be rejected. The final result will be decided as per the test results.

The Application Form to SHIATS Exam will be available from the month of January and the Candidates can give in their Application Entries to SHIATS until the month of May.
