  • About: The Combined Graduate Level Examination (CGL) is conducted by Staff Selection Commision (SSC) of India. SSC has various posts in Ministries, Departments and Organisations. Every year thousands of vacancies are filled by the SSC in Government departments. Lakhs of students in India attempt the SSC exams for employment in the Government sector.

  • Authority: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts SSC CGL 2018 Exam.

  • Level: SSC CGL 2018 is a national level exam.
  • Frequency: SSC CGL 2018 is an annual exam, conducted once a year.

  • Exam Papers: SSC CGL 2018 Exam is in 4 stages based on the post. Stages are divided into Tier-I, Tier-II, Tier-III & Tier-IV.

  • Stages: For SSC CGL 2018, Tier-1 and Tier-2 exams will be conducted online and Tier-3 will be a descriptive offline exam. Tier-4 is a Computer Proficiency Test (for some required posts only) and document verification for the candidates selected in Tier-3.

  • Scope: SSC is conducting recruitment exams to fill vacancies in different government ministries and organisations like Indian Coast Guard, Intelligence Bureau, Ministry of Railways, Ministry of External Affairs, etc. The SSC CGL posts are classified into groups of A, B, C and D.

SSC CGL 2018 Syllabus:

  • Tiers: SSC CGL 2018 Exam is conducted in 4 tiers, namely, Tier I, Tier II, Tier III, and Tier IV.

SSC CGL 2018 Exam Pattern:

  • As there are 4 tiers in the exam, the pattern is different for different tiers. Tier I, Tier II and Tier IV are online tests, whereas Tier III is an offline test. Candidates will be provided with a job based on the tier that they clear.

  • Tier-1: Consists of 100 questions for 200 marks and the duration is one hour.

  • Tier-2:  Consists of 4 papers duration of each paper is 1 hour with 100 questions for 200 marks.

SSC CGL 2018 Application Process:

  • Website: Candidates who want to apply for SSC CGL 2018 can apply from the official website ssc.nic.in or ssconline.nic.in where candidates can fill the SSC CGL Online Application Form.

  • Mode of Payment: SSC CGL 2018 Application Fee can be paid either online or offline. After filling in the details, candidates will be provided with an application number and password which can be used as login credentials.

SSC CGL 2018 Exam Centers:

  • No of Choices: Candidates can provide three choices of exam centres while filling the application form.

  • Allocation: Seats are allocated on a first come first serve basis. If the total seats for the city which is the first preference are already allocated, then the next best option is provided.

SSC CGL 2018 Admit Card:

  • Availability: SSC CGL 2018 Admit Card will be available once it is released by the conducting authority.

  • Contents: Admit card will contain Roll no (user id for the exam), Login Password, Hall Ticket Number, Exam Date, Time, Venue, Duration name of the Candidate etc. If the photograph attached to the admit card is not clear, candidates are advised to carry a new photograph.

 SSC CGL 2018 Preparation Tips:

  • Selection of section: SSC CGL 2018 exam has no section wise cut-off, so the candidates must first attempt the section that they have prepared well. 

  • Mock Tests: Candidates must take online mock tests regularly so that they get familiarized with the exam pattern.

  • Online Tests: Candidates must appear for the online tests so that they can improve their speed and they will be able to identify the average time taken by them to complete a particular section.

  • Analyze: Candidates must try to identify the topics in which they are strong and weak. They must give more time to the topics in which they are weak.
