SSC CHSL 2018 Introduction:

  • SSC CHSL Full Form: Staff Selection Commission Combined Higher Secondary Level (10+2) Examination is commonly abbreviated as SSC CHSL.

  • About SSC CHSL: The Staff Selection Commission is a body under Government of India to recruit employees for various Ministries and Departments of Government of India. It was started in the year 1967-68 as subroutine service selection. SSC [Staff Selection Commission] conducts CHSL [Combined Higher Secondary Level] examination every year to fill clerical vacancies in Government departments.
  • Examination Level: SSC conducts CHSL (10+2) Examination on the national level for recruitment to the posts of Lower Divisional Clerk, Junior Secretariat Assistant, Postal/Sorting Assistant and Data Entry Operator. Due to the national level grandiosity of the examination, the examination is taken up by a large number of candidates who want to start a career in a government job after the 10+2 qualifying examination.

  • Headquarters: The headquarters of SSC is located in New Delhi and as of now, it has 6 regional offices at Allahabad, Mumbai, Kolkata, Guwahati, Chennai, and Bengaluru. 

  • Vacancies: As mentioned in the notification of SSC CHSL 2017-2018, SSC has announced 3259 following vacancies for the various posts of:

    • Lower Divisional Clerk: 898 

    • Postal/Sorting Assistant: 2359 

    • Data Entry Operator: 2 

  • Stages: The SSC CHSL 2018 examination will be conducted in 3 stages:

    • Tier I exam - Tier I exam will be an online test. Candidates qualifying Tier 1 exam will be shortlisted for the offline Tier 2 exam.

    • Tier II exam - Candidates who qualify Tier 2 exam will have to appear for a skill-based test (Tier 3 exam).

    • Tier III exam - It is the skill-based test which will be the final qualifying exam post which shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification to establish their eligibility.

SSC CHSL 2018 Recruitment:

  • Pay scale: A Lower Division Clerk (LDC)/ Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA) will be offered a Level 1 pay band of INR (5200-20200) and grade pay of INR 1900.

  • Promotions and career progression: For all the posts offered, an increment in grade pay following promotions will be as follows:

    • 1st: INR 2800> 2nd: INR 4200> 3rd: INR 4600> 4th: INR 5400

SSC CHSL 2018 Important Dates:

  • Application form: Staff Selection Commission released the Application Form for SSC CHSL 2018 examination on 18th November 2017 and the last date to complete the Application Process is 18th December 2017.  

  • Date of Examination: SSC CHSL 2018 examination will be held in different stages from 4th March 2018 to 8th July 2018.

SSC CHSL 2018 Vacancy:

  • Job Posts: SSC CHSL 2018 will be conducted for the recruitment of Lower Division Clerk, Court Clerk, Postal/Sorting Assistant and Data Entry Operator.

  • Vacancies: SSC has announced 3259 vacancies for the above-mentioned posts for the clerical departments of its different regions in the official notification of 2017 - 2018.

SSC CHSL 2018 Eligibility:

  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed the 10+2 board examination or equivalent from a recognised education board or university. 

  • Age Limit: Applicants should not be more than 27 years of age on the date of application. However, relaxation in upper age limit will be provided for reserved categories as per government norms.

SSC CHSL 2018 Syllabus:  

  • Tier 1: The online Tier I exam will assess the candidate's knowledge of General Awareness, English Comprehension, General Intelligence and Quantitative Aptitude.

  • Tier 2: The offline Tier II exam will be an essay/letter writing test.

SSC CHSL 2018 Exam Pattern:

  • Tier I: The Tier I SSC CHSL 2018 examination will be an online objective type test conducted for a total of 200 marks. The exam will be conducted in Hindi and English.

  • Tier II: The Tier II SSC CHSL 2018 examination will be a pen and paper-based test conducted for a total of 100 marks. The exam will be conducted in Hindi and English.

SSC CHSL 2018 Application Process:

  • Application Process: The entire application process for SSC CHSL 2018 can be divided into Registration, Uploading documents, Form filling and Fee payment. 

  • Application Fee: The application form fee for SSC CHSL 2018 is INR 100 for general category candidates. Females and all reserved category candidates will be exempted from paying any application fee. The fee can be paid via online payment gateways or through SBI Challan.
