About: National Eligibility Test (N.E.T) is conducted by NTA (National Testing Agency) every year to evaluate a candidate's eligibility for the post of Assistant Professor in Indian Universities & Colleges and Junior Research Fellowship.
Opportunities: Candidates who have cleared UGC NET 2018 Exams can be a part of the teaching profession and research on several subjects of Humanities (including Indian and some foreign languages), Social Sciences, Computer Science and Applications, Electronic Science, Forensic Science and Environmental Sciences etc. Candidates are awarded Assistant Professor / JRF and Assistant Professor positions based on their performance in both the papers.
Syllabus: UGC NET 2018 Syllabus includes 84 subjects. The candidates can choose the subjects from their field of excellence. General Aptitude Test is common for all. Age Limit: According to UGC NET 2018 notification, the maximum age limit for Junior Research Fellowship has been raised from 28 years to 30 years.
Validity Period: The validity period of UGC NET 2018 Results will be 2 years with respect to the date of issue of JRF Letter. But the validity of UGC NET/CSIR Score for Lectureship is a lifetime.
Stipend: Monthly stipend for JRF, SRF and Assistant Professors through UGC NET 2018 are as follows:
Junior Research Fellowship: 25,000.
Senior Research Fellowship: 28,000.
The successful conduction of UGC NET 2017 was done by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on 5 November 2017. Approximately 9.30 lack candidates have registered for UGC NET 2017.
UGC NET 2017 was conducted in 91 cities. Overall 1700 exam centres across India were there to appear for an exam.

Application Form: The last date to submit UGC NET 2018 Application form was 12th April 2018.

Minimum Qualification: Candidates must have a minimum aggregate of 55% without rounding off (50% for reserved categories) in their Master's Degree or equivalent degree, in subjects like Humanities and Social Sciences, Electronic Science, Computer Science etc from a UGC recognized university/institution for UGC NET 2018.
Age Limit: Candidate must be below 30 years of age as on 1st July 2018. Five years of relaxation is granted to women candidates and OBC/SC/ST/PWD/Transgenders categories for UGC NET 2018. There is no age limit for the Assistant Professor role.

Subjects: The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the UGC NET 2018 examination in 84 subjects.

Marks: Each question in UGC NET 2018 carries 2 marks and the questions are of objective type. The UGC NET 2018 consists of two papers, Paper-I for 100 marks and Paper-II for 200 marks.
Paper Pattern: A total of 150 questions will be asked in UGC NET 2018 which will be divided into two papers. Paper-I will have 50 questions and Paper-II will have 100 questions, all of which are compulsory.

Application Date: Candidates can apply online for UGC NET 2018 before 12th April 2018.
AADHAR authentication: AADHAR authentication will be done for the applicants at the time of submission of application form for UGC NET 2018.
Application fee: Application fee for General category is Rs.1000, for OBC-NC it is Rs.500 and for SC/ST/PwD/Transgender it is Rs.250. Application fee once paid, is not refundable or transferable under any circumstances.

Criteria for Declaration of Results: A merit list is generated based on the aggregate marks of the candidates who secure the minimum marks required in both the papers. Only the top 6% candidates will be declared NET qualified for eligibility for Assistant Professor.

Counselling Schedule: UGC NET 2018 counselling will be based on the results. NTA will release the counselling schedule after the declaration of the results.
Documents Required: UGC NET 2018 Admit card is necessary for the candidate to participate in UGC NET 2018 Counselling process. Candidates are advised to bring the original documents along with the Admit card for the verification process.

Paper Analysis of UGC NET 2017:
Overall Difficulty level: The candidates who wrote UGC NET 2017 felt that the overall difficulty level of the examination was Moderate.
Paperwise difficulty: Candidates felt, while Paper I and Paper II were moderate, the Paper III was quite difficult to answer. But none of the questions asked in the exam was out of the syllabus. The Mass Communication students felt Paper III be the easiest one.
Time Limit: Candidates felt difficult to complete the Paper I in the given time compared to the other Papers.
Extra time: For Differently abled students, 25 minutes of additional time was provided for Paper I and 50 minutes of additional time was provided for Paper II and Paper III.

NTA has decided to use Aadhaar for UGC NET 2018 applicants, and hereby notifies the following:
Authentication: Applicants have to enter Aadhaar number, name, date of birth & gender in the online application for UGC-NET 2018 (November) in order to identify the applicant and authentication.
Aadhaar enrollment: The UGC NET 2018 Applicants who do not have an Aadhaar card are hereby required to make application for Aadhaar enrolment in case he/she is entitled to obtain Aadhaar. Such applicant may visit any Aadhaar enrollment centre to get enrolled for Aadhaar. Aadhaar number is important for UGC NET 2018 Registration.
Candidates from J&K, Assam & Meghalaya: J&K, Assam & Meghalaya applicants need to enter Passport number, Ration card number, Bank account number or any other Government identity number provided and they should select the city of UGC NET 2018 in these states.
ID Proof: The candidates should carry a photo ID card along with the printout of online Admission Card on the day of UGC NET 2018 examination.
Timings: Candidates should report to the exam centre at least 2:30 hours before the commencement of exam. Candidates will not be allowed to leave the examination hall/room before 10:00 a.m. in the 1st session of UGC NET 2018 and 1:00 p.m. in the second session of UGC NET 2018.
No Writing on the Test Booklets: Candidates will not be allowed to write any question from the UGC NET 2018 Test Booklet on the Admission Card or on any other paper.
OMR sheet: The candidate should return the original OMR Sheet of UGC NET 2018 Paper I and II together to the Invigilator before leaving the examination hall/room. However, candidates are allowed to carry the UGC NET 2018 Test Booklets of Paper-I and II along with the duplicate copy of OMR Sheet on the conclusion of the examination.
Signature: Candidates should make sure that the signature and photograph posted in all the places in UGC NET 2018 Application Form and Admission Card should be identical and there should be no variation of any kind.
Restricted Items: The use of calculators or Log Tables in UGC NET 2018 are not permitted. Mobile phones, pagers, electronic devices etc. are not allowed in the UGC NET 2018 Examination Hall/Room.
Canvassing: Canvassing in any form will disqualify the candidate from UGC NET 2018.
Queries: Applicants should correspond only with their respective NET Coordinating Institution for Venue of test/seating arrangement or any other relevant information of UGC NET 2018.
Absentees: A candidate who does not appear in UGC NET 2018 paper-I, will not be permitted to appear in UGC NET 2018 paper-II and UGC NET 2018 paper-III.

Research candidates: An age relaxation is also provisioned for the candidates with experience of research.The categorical relaxation in age will be allowed on the ground of producing relevant certificates.
LLM Degree holders: 3 years of age relaxation is given to the candidates who hold a Master's in Law.
Scanned documents: Before applying Online, candidates should have all the necessary scanned images in the required format.
Process: There are four steps in the UGC NET 2018 Application process to be followed by the candidates- Application form is to be filled, Upload Images, Fee Payment and Confirmation page.
Submission of documents: The Application along with Bank Challan and other required documents must reach the Registrar/Principal of the Coordinating Institution.
Fee Payment: After filling all the details candidates should select the mode of payment of examination fee. Candidates can either pay through e-challan generated during the online filling of the application form.
Document for Age relaxation: Applicants seeking age relaxation must enclose the certificate of educational qualification/research experience entitling the Applicants for age relaxation.
Application Dates: Candidates can register for UGC NET 2018 from 6th March 2018.
Fee details: UGC NET 2018 Examination fee for General Category is Rs. 1000, for OBC the fee is Rs. 500, for SC/ST/PWD/Transgender candidates the fee is Rs.250.
Fee Payment: The exam fee can be paid by e-challan generated at the time of filling the application form or Debit/Credit card. The candidate has to pay the fee in Syndicate/Canara/ICICI Bank. Additional charges of 1.20% and 0.75% is charged in case of Payment through Credit card or Debit card respectively.
Fee status: If the UGC NET 2018 exam fee is paid through e-challan by depositing cash in the above-mentioned banks, the candidate should contact the concerned bank immediately to update his/her fee status on the website. Candidates are advised to ensure that the fee has been submitted successfully and also to check the status of fee payment.
Note: Application form submitted in any format other than the specified format, including the Old UGC format will be rejected.
Mandatory: UGC NET 2018 admit card serves as a hall ticket to attend the examination, therefore the candidate has to carry a copy of the admit card to the exam centre. The candidate has to carry a Photo ID along with the Admit card to the Exam hall.
Process: After successful registration for UGC NET 2018 exam, the admit card can be downloaded online from the official website.
Admit Card Contents: Information about the candidate will be printed on the UGC NET 2018 admit card, therefore the candidate has to fill his/her information carefully.
Verify: Candidates must make sure that all the details entered while registration is correct so that there are no mistakes on the admit card.
Discrepancies: Candidates should verify the information on the admit card and in case of any discrepancies, candidates should inform the concerned authority immediately.
Papers: UGC NET 2018 exam consists of two papers Paper 1 and Paper 2.
