XAT 2018:

Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) 2018 is National Level Entrance Test conducted by Xavier School of Management, Xavier Labour Relations Institute (XLRI) - Jamshedpur held for admissions to MBA, PGDM &  to colleges under Xavier Associate Management Institutes (XAMI). The XAT Exam is conducted Once, every year. The XAT Exam is usually conducted in the month of January. Over 100,000 students appear for XAT every year.  

  • Candidates who wish to take up the exam should satisfy the eligibilty criteria set by XLRI can apply by registering on the official website .
  • Then the candidates can login to apply for the exam online.
  • The application form for XAT 2018 is available on the Official Website.   
  • The Application Form for XAT 2018 begins on the 30th November 2017 till 30th November 2017.
  • The XAT 2018 exam is held on the 8th January 2018.
  • The Syllabus for XAT Exam includes English , General Awareness, Quantitative Ability and Decision Making.
  • The XAT Exam will be conducted in online mode.

XAT 2018 Important Dates

  • Commencement of Online Application: The XAT application procedure begins on the 17th August 2017.
  • Last Date of Online Application: The XAT application procedure will end on the 30th November 2017  without late fee and on 11th December 2018 with the late fee.
  • Availability of XAT Admit card: The XAT Admit card will be made available on 20th December 2017.
  • XAT exam date: The XAT exam will be held on 8th January 2018 and the score card will be mailed on 25th January 2018.

XAT 2018 Eligibility

  • Age Bar: There is no age bar for taking the XAT exam.
  • Educational Qualification: The candidate must score a minimum of 50% in their graduation. However, there is 5% relaxation for SC/ST/OBC and Physically Handicapped Classes.

XAT 2018 Application Process

  • Registration Procedure:  The applicants must go to the official website and fill up the required details in order to get a new ID and password. This ID and Password must be preserved to complete the registration procedure. A digital signature and photo must be uploaded. The XAT application fee must be paid and the form must be printed and sent to XLRI office address.
  • Mode of Payment of application fee: The XAT application fee can be paid in online and offline mode. In case the fee is paid in offline mode, the same must be mentioned in the XAT application form.

XAT 2018 Application Form Details

  • Application Fee: The application fee is Rs. 1,600. The cost of application per course is Rs. 300. The cost of application with late fee is Rs. 2,000. The cost of application per course with late fee is Rs. 500.
  • Mode of payment: The application fee can be paid using net banking, cash, demand draft, debit card or credit card. In case of payment via cash or demand draft, a printout of the pay-in-slip for XAT must be taken and the fee must be remitted in any IDBI bank branch.

XAT 2018 Admit Card

  • The XAT admit card will be available on the official website. Hence students must download the XAT admit card.
  • It will not be sent via email or post.
  • The admit card must be printed and carried to the exam hall along with a valid ID.

XAT 2018 Exam Pattern

  • Mode of exam: The exam will be held in online mode.
  • Number of Questions: There will be around 78 questions of which 26 questions will come for Verbal and Logical Ability, 23 questions will come for decision making, 29 questions will come for Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation, 25 questions will come for General Knowledge and 1 question for essay.
  • Time duration: The time duration for XAT will be 170 minutes.
  • Marking Scheme: Every correct answer will fetch the candidate 1 mark and there will be negative marking of 1/4 mark for every wrong answer. There will be no negative marking for essay and general knowledge questions.

XAT 2018 Syllabus

The XAT syllabus is given below in brief:

  • English Syllabus: Contextual usage, Comprehension, Verbal reasoning etc.
  • General Awareness Syllabus: Current Affairs, General Knowledge, Sports etc.
  • Decision Making/Analytical Reasoning Syllabus: Verbal analysis, Analogy, Thinking ability etc.
  • Quantitative Ability/Data Interpretation: Algebra, Ages, Decimals, Averages, Venn Diagram etc.

XAT 2018 Results

  • Result Date: The XAT 2018 results will be out on 25th January 2018.
  • Steps to access results: The results will be available on the official website. Candidates must click on the result tab and enter the login details in order to access the results. The score card must be downloaded and it should be preserved for the admission process.

XAT 2018 Counselling

  • The XAT counseling session will consist of Group Discussion, Personal Interview and Essay writing. After this, the merit list will be displayed on the website.
  • The documents like 10th and 12th marks card, XAT score card, XAT admit card etc must be carried to the counseling venue. After the documents are verified, the final seat allotment will take place.

The admission to XLRI has been categorised into two stages –

Stage 1Short-Listing of Candidates: The candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their performance in XAT Entrance Examination. XAT score will consist of three sections: Verbal Ability, Decision Making and Quantitative Aptitude. General knowledge and Essay Writing marks will be included in Stage 2 of the selection process.

Stage 2Final Selection: Most of the B-schools follow Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds for the final selection process. Once these rounds are completed, the total score is calculated on the basis of XAT 2017 score, GD, PI, Essay Writing, General Knowledge, past Academic records, work experience (if any), and overall profile. On the basis of these scores, merit list is prepared and the admissions are offered.

It is mandatory to pay an application fee. XLRI has increased the number of fees. The application form will not process further without the payment of fees. The amount of application is as follows:

  • Application Fee- Rs. 1600, INR 300 per XLRI course
  • Application Fee, if paid later(after November 30, 2016)- Rs. 2000, INR 500 per XLRI course

The payment can be done in both online and offline mode.

Candidates need to get the application form online to register themselves for XAT 2017. Applicants must check the XAT important dates 2017.  Aspirants can register for the test till November 30, 2016 (without late fee).

However, one can also apply till December 11, 2016 (with late fee). The form will be generated online only after XAT Login ID and Password will be allotted to the candidate. While registering for the test, candidates are required to pay an application fee.
